  1. EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Anyone interested in the new Tokina 80-400mm AF-D for Canon? I have one with less than 300 images on it for sale. My hands are too unsteady to use it sans tripod, I need IS.
  2. That's a really clean build. Nice pictures.
  3. Have you performed the bass mod yet?
  4. I didn't remove the caps. Unscrewed the ear cup and cut a hole in the paper over the dome to get access to it. Then took a hot soldering iron and popped the hole in the clear plastic dome.
  5. That looks an awful lot like the SA5k cord...
  6. I just got a replacement headband part from Sony and repaired my eggos. Did the bass-mod at the same time. Nice improvement. Subtle, which is good since it doesn't ruin the overall sound of the phones.
  7. My desktop at work runs FreeBSD 6: pleiades[16:12]# uptime 4:12PM up 153 days, 1:50, 10 users, load averages: 0.11, 0.07, 0.02 My laptop at home has been up for 35 days and only because I took it into work a month ago. Prior to that it was up for over 4 months. I have servers in work that prior to our colo-provider having a power outtage were up for over 800 days, and they see heavy usage. Unless there's a kernel level bug/patch that is NOT in a loadable module it's very very easy to keep a system going indefinitely. That's another benefit of using kernel modules, let's say a driver has a critical bug in it, you can simply unload the driver, patch it, reload the driver and never take down the system itself. Unix systems are very resilient. Oh, and for those two games, try wine. They might work just fine. www.winehq.com
  8. Most command line functions on the 'desktop' linux distros have graphical equivalents. There are tools like Synaptic for apt-get on Ubuntu and Yum Extender for Fedora that let you install packages. I look at it this way, 95% of the desktop linux distros will run out of the box and be perfectly fine for most. The command line magic that comes into play the other 5% of the time is no different than tweaking the registry when something goes awry on Windows. As for additional driver support, they're called kernel modules, if your driver doesn't function as one then it's broken. You should never have to recompile a kernel to gain additional driver support AND most distros come with such a generic kernel that again, 95% of the existing hardware out there is supported out of the box. This doesn't mean however there is no benefit to kernel recompiles as you can generally strip out unused drivers to gain performance and free up some memory. Quite frankly if you need absolutely usability, get a Mac But if you want a system that is stable, fast, has good public support, is FREE, has no Microsoft WGA/Activation BS, and can essentially be run for months on end without a reboot, use linux or one of the BSD's.
  9. Saitek Eclipse II backlit keyboard. For gaming at night
  10. Are you referring to the jagged edges of objects? If so it looks like a poor antialiasing filter in whatever image processing the Olympus does. Oh and you'll be happy with the Canon, DIGIC image processing is some of the best you can get, even in the point and shoot arena.
  11. Tape 13 was released today. Get your download on!
  12. Nice on the Memory Sticks. Someone needs more room on their PSP I'm about to get a 4GB CF card from Lexar. The 30D shoots so damn fast I can fill a gigabyte card in no time, plus it's time to start shooting in RAW mode.
  13. It's too bad that last photo is blurred. It looks like an awesome shot.
  14. Nice. Use a macro lens I'd imagine? What camera?
  15. I think I've been bitten by this Minidisc Canada/Canada Post issue as well. My delivery date was supposed to be July 5th. I still haven't received the unit and CP's tracking still says the item was received at the post office on the 23rd of June... Weird.
  16. Go get em! I'm selling my Canon 300D to a friend and got a little upgrade: Used one for a bit and was immediately sold. It's such a large improvement over the 300D/Digital Rebel, I couldn't resist anymore. *giddy*
  17. http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=469 Requires inf tricks. And here's the install procedure for SS 3.x http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=3876
  18. Unfortunately last I checked Sonic Stage under WINE wouldn't transfer a track to a MD device. It runs though.
  19. Mine was preordered in May and shipped the 22nd of June, I received tracking info from Canada Post, the subject line was something to the effect of "Event Notification / Avis d'activité". Postal service tracking information always seems bad. The US Postal Service tracking info is nearly worthless with Canadian Post seemingly the same.
  20. No, meant x264 the video codec, you'd mentioned something about ripping DVD's.
  21. POP protection too. You can also send it back to be upgraded with new features as they come out. It's an awesome toy. In states where detectors are legal it also serves as a great BS detector. If a cop does pull you over and tells you you were speeding you can call bulls**t on it cuz there's no way they're evading the V1. And they know it Pastagaman: In alot of states in the US detectors are perfectly legal. Some states they're illegal, like Virginia. They will pull you over and check to see if the unit is warm thereby telling them you were using it, and subsequently ticket you. At the very least it serves as a reminder that you should check your speed more often. But it's just as good for those times at night when the roads are empty and you want to open it up a bit, hehe. Speed safely.
  22. x264 supports multithreading You could encode your videos in AVC and use both cores. Better quality than divx/xvid to boot. Also, why not just overclock the 3500?
