  1. A little correction to avoid further confusion, you can not record to 48kbps on your HIMD only PCM(WAV), 256 or 64 kbps, the later of which is what you refer to as HILP mode. Sonic Stage only uploads in 3 formats PCM(WAV), 256 of 64kbps. You could upload to WAV, then write to a cdrw, and finally reimport the cdrw into Sonic Stage as 48kbps. This maybe a little easier on your laptop. Or, after you upload the files in 64kbps use the conversion tool in Sonic Stage to convert to it to 48kbps files, then delete the 64 kbps version. The only thing I'm not sure about on this way is if I beleive uploaded tracks are automatically DRMed, so I'm not 100% positive if it will let you convert it. Someone else here will probably know the answer or just use a sample file and try it. Anyways either way leaves you with a 48kbps file that you won't have to convert anymore. The best thing to do is leave it in 64kbps, it takes so little more room than 48kbps. Later,POE.
  2. I guess I should elaborate a little further, I would hope that they would then add the option to rip in Atrac Lossless only option, as opposed to Lossless and Lossy Codec of your choice. This would save space and allow high qualilty playback. If only. Later, POE.
  3. No 1 I asked "Anybody?". Now after my comeback remark, I should never post after being up all night. Dah!! I was thinking lossless playback. Yeah, right minidisc has had gapless playback since its begining. That's one of the main reasons I've keep with minidisc in the first place. Ok here's my vote for lossless playback on the portable units. Later, POE.
  4. I know everybody is more worried about Bond yelling (typing in big letters). I thought gapless recording and playback were only availble through your computer. Did this change with SS 4.0 and up? What Bond was yelling for was for gapless playback on portable units. Anybody? POE

    SP sounds better?!

Uhmm... there was something missed in this discussion. Kestrel did you use the same headphones, unpluged and plug into the other unit, when you done this comparison? POE
  6. Sorry, I'm not interested at that price. Thanks, POE.
  7. I would be interested in this mike, I'm hunting for one that I can use to put together a podcast with. This mike would be perfect. It would be appreciated if you could translate that price to US dollars and check to see a round figure of how much it would cost to send it to Charleston, WV , USA. Thanks, POE.

    Parts for mz-rh910

If he bought in the USA he didn't get a stick remote, it comes with no remote at all in the US.POE
  11. Sparky191 that was a joke in relation to recent news about Apples work force in China. Word got out that workers are working 15-16 hour days and paid only something like $50 dollars a month. All Apple said was that they were looking into it. I mean come on Apple doesn't reallize somethings wrong when they get Ipods produced at a really cheap price there, they knew something about it if it is true. POE
  12. I own the 910 and I get on the average 8-10 hrs of playback with a say a mix of 75% 352 files and 25% 256 files. The size of the files matter in the amount of playback time. Unless you have a job that you work more than 8hrs a day and listen to music the entire time, this should be fine for you. I griped at first about the short play time , you'll get use to it. Also, the first 4 or 5 charges the play time is alot shorter. Just remember to discharge the battery until the unit shuts off these first handful of times to get a good charge. Finally you can always can buy more gumsticks batteries their not that rare, you may even be able to pick them up locally.POE
  13. A440 those were my thoughts to the T. They're trying to make up money for what they don't get paid to make Apple's IPods.POE
  14. Does the Milli Vanilli record really need to be broken for it to repeat?POE
  15. hokutonoken if you try any other installs of SS not only do you need to shut off your antiv and fire wall you also need to shut off any antispyware and antiadware programs. In my case SpyBot Search And Destroy stops regristry edits and I encountered similar problems as yours.POE
  16. Did you at any point try to get in the service menu and try to perform a hack? There is a setting in there that can mess up the mapping of the buttons on your remote.POE
  17. My 2 cents, go for the RH910, I own it, also it's the lesser of two evils. The 910's shinny surface scratchs very easy, it's only half the face of the unit, the 10's shinny surface goes all the way across, twice the scratches.POE
  18. I've read both of your other threads. The only thing that hasn't been tried is uninstall Sonic Stage and reinstall. I personally think that this is the problem. You could have bum unit, I doubt it though. Did you buy the unit new or used? If you bought new have you droped it at all, I own the NH600D also and I have doubts about its durability? Also, are you making sure that the USB is seated correctlly in the computer and in the unit? You are correct that there is no option for formating discs from this unit. My money is with reinstalling Sonic Stage. The unit you own may have questionable build quality, but it's really not that bad.POE
  19. I got the two remotes I needed for the RH900 and the NH600 I own. Thanks to all of the people who offered.POE

    Almost ready!

I just purchased the RH910, don't let me fool you I like it and can live with it, but there is 2 issues that are really annoying. First off the RH910 doesn't even come with a remote and I just obtained the RH10 remote, through the generousity of one of the forum members, well lets just say it's functional and nowhere the build quality of the other Sony minidisc remotes( great untill I save a $100, without my wife knowing it, for the 40ELK). So if you want a good remote you're going to be set back another at least $65 plus shipping. That puts the price well above the RH1 which comes with a really good, I beleive 2 line, remote. If you do go with the RH10 you will really need a good remote for the second issue with these units. Second issue: you're paying $250 for some nice shinny pretty RH10, that scratchs and gets finger prints if you look at it cross eyed! This has been mention before in this forum, but I believe this has been well understated. I've had my RH910 maybe a month and I already got two nice scratchs on it. So you will have to keep it in a bag at all times so you will need a decent remote. If you don't need direct mp3 playback, doesn't matter if you have to transcode to Atrac, and if you have no legacy SP recordings to upload, I say go for the NH900. The real advantage that I can think of that is left with the RH1 is that it downloads twice as fast. Now if you have legacy SP recordings, want good direct mp3 play back and are slightlly impacient and want to do lots of recording. I think you should wait for the RH1. Now if you want bling, bling I say go for RH10. Just remember the looks come with a nasty nuisance. Since I bought my RH910 I like it but I think I should of taken a extra $30 and got the NH900 from minidisco.com. My experience,POE.
  21. Zerogun, you have a PM at Audio T Station. Thanks, POE
  22. If there is no other problems with the unit, you can always buy the 40ELK remote. You'll get all the functionallity back with it.POE.
  23. We did a trade of a extra remote he had for some minidiscs, and the transaction went down without a hitch. He kept in contact with me and it was just great to deal with him. POE
  24. There is also another usefull feature, if your sound card has a digital audio out ( mine has a coax digital out) and you got a stereo with digital inputs. You can hook your computer up to your stereo, because SS uses the lossless for playback on your computer, you now have a "all of your disc liabary" jukebox!POE
  25. Minidisc Access doesn't sell the colored flip cases anymore, I would really love to get ahold of them. I'm kinda of partial to the flip cases now, ironically I hate them for CDs, I just need to get around to ordering some. Of the ones I have now I favor the old clear front with the minimal grab cutouts and I really hate these new frosted semisoft sleeves, looks wise that is I like that they are less fragile. I think that the first (grey, purple) HIMDs were in fashion with the minidisc units that came out with it. Exception being maybe the NH1 didn't quite fit in there, but they really go well with my NH600D though. I have to say that I still prefer the new clear blue HIMDs better though. I seen where someone here or at the Audio TBoard switched out a HIMD into a regular MD, I really want to try this. I just want to get a fancy MD to try it with say like the ones with the airbrush graphics avaible from Minidisco. I just want to really make it worth the effort.POE
