I just bought a RH 910 about 2 weeks ago so I won't have the money for a good remote for awhile. So if anybody who has the remote that came with the RH 10 laying around because they replaced with a LCD, I would be interested in the stick remote. I would even be interested in the stick that came with the NH700, I also beleive this is the same remote that came with 510 portables. Thanks,POE.

Last I week I bought a RH 910 and 5 1gig disc from my local home theater shop in Charlestown,WV. Surprise to me was that I didn't even knew that they carried the disc, I digress.POE

Try asking this at avsforum.com they have both a SACD/DVDA and DVD recorder forums there. You will get a informed answer there as to whether one exist or not. For other people out there interested in SACD/DVDA there is a Samsung hybrid single or 5 disc models out there that you can get for under $150. I own about a dozen SACD and a Sony SACD/DVD player, I bought for a $150 at CC, it's worth the effort and expense.POE

This thread brings up a rant and a suggestion from me. I live in Charlestown,WV, there is a high end home theater shop down town. I was in there a little while back and saw that they carried minidisc portables, spefically they had the RH910. So a week ago I received a bonus check from work so after much arguing with the wife about how she thought that I was crazy for paying $200 for something like this, off I went to the store. So I get there and the sales person hands me out the 910, it was in a glass display case, who trys to exlains the merits of the NH600D they also have, get this they want a $179 for it, luckly the truth worked best I replied that I already own it also. So anyways I notice a 8pk of regular MDs and some loose ones in the display case, so I figured the only stupid question is the one that remains unasked. I ask " Do you happen to have any of the 1gig MDs somewhere that I'm not looking", now here's where it gets good he replys "Yeah, we have some in the back". Ok now I'm thinking that sure sells alot of the product setting in the back. So he comes out with a entire box of 5 1gig disc. So he explains that they wan't $8 apiece, so after the intial ticket shock I thought for the convience of it was worth the couple extra bucks a disc. So he pulls one disc out, the new Blue ones at that, I'm like " Just give me the whole box". The whole time I'm thinking they really don't want to sell nothing here. It gets better, so I go to cash out, it comes $256 dollars, I was very happy, RH910 + 5 1gig discs. So I ask him how long of a notice they would need if I want to order more of the disc, his reply "none we have at least a few more boxes in the back". You got to love people who don't even want to sell their own product, did I mention they're a offical Sony Representive store! So if you have any audio shops in your area that are a Sony Representive store you may want to try to ask them.POE P.S. ewrann what unit did you buy?

Does anybody know if these are still avaible for sell and where to buy them.POE -
After last Christmas I bought a NH600D HIMD for $49.99USD at Circuit City. I also had a gift certificate for $25 so I walked out with it for around $30. A year or so ago I bought a 510 Sony portable for $34USD clearenced at the Walmart I worked at. About 5 years ago I bought a deck a Sony 310 w/portable player for a clearanced price of $99USD from Sears. A year before that I bought a portable recorder for $55 from the same Sears. I can't remember which model but it used two AAs and had a magnesium body. That one was really nice it was my first minidisc also. If it wasn't for these deals I never would have been into minidisc period, I just could not have afforded the regular retails back then. I grew up so now I can afford to get stuff sooner and at regular prices. So I forked in my support and bought a RH910 for a $199 at a shop in Charlestown.POE

I once had 2 Monster brand Y's and both of them out of the blue had only 1 leg of the Y would pass a signal. Never did figure out what caused it. Was you using the same Y both times, could it may be faulty? Dex Otaku could it (refering to only the left signal being split) simply be causing a short(at the monitor or the recording source) of some type?POE

Defying Expectations, Third Generation Hi-MD Unit Surfaces?
poe replied to Christopher's topic in News
Hey rayzray is the Y coming from a 1/4 stereo headphone jack off the Sima Mixer?POE -
It has to be a issue with the 64bit OS. I run Sonic Stage on a AMD 64 with the 32bit OS and have never had a problem yet,POE

Even though Atrac 3 is lower than Atrac 3 Plus still doesn't change the fact that Atrac 3 132 is really not that bad for listening to on headphones. Suggestion, instead of worring about bit rates or encoding schemes, try lisling to it. Just to clear something up you do realize that you can transfer Atrac 3 132 to HIMD machines? Not trying to insult your intelligence, it was kind of fuzzy wether you knew or not.POE

Defying Expectations, Third Generation Hi-MD Unit Surfaces?

Hey, rayzray I ripped Cher's Beleive tour DVD with Besweet and it turned out fine. A friend of mine rented the one that you did and he said it sounded awfull. Try the Believe Tour DVD, I'm really no fan of Cher, it really was a awsome concert DVD though.POE -
Defying Expectations, Third Generation Hi-MD Unit Surfaces?
poe replied to Christopher's topic in News
Someone earlier linked to a another forum talking about the RH1, one of the posts brought a good point. I think if Sony keeps to one unit a year and I mean no foreign versions just one unit a year for everyone, I think it may still be profitable for a little while to come. Let's face it there is a lot of us who will never give up on our MDs, I for one, we will replace these eventually. Don't think from a American prespective though, think world wide, there will be still be a lot of people using MDs for a long time. I know I would rather replace them with a new high quality unit, than some questionable used unit off of Ebay.POE -

Update, I uninstalled all of Sonic Stage 3.2 and then installed 3.4. No problems so far as I can tell. I can transfer more than 4 ablums at a time with no problems like some people have problems with. I also notice that when I import a CD into 3.4 it seems about 20-25% faster go figure. Thanks,POE.
-
Thanks, for the help I will have to uninstall anyways. Yesterday later in the day I tried to load a cd into Sonic Stage and it shuts down now when I try to import anything. I guess it also damaged stuff. I finally figured how to shut of Spy Bot S&D,also. I'll get aroung to it in a couple days, I'll let you guys know how it goes. Later, POE.

Update, I realized a few minutes ago that something did take. I can now import, convert in my liabrary, and convert files while transfer to minidisc in the 192 format. There is no option for lossless avaible. The 352 format is only avaible in one place, that is transferring tracks to minidisc, the conversion tool there. I had some WAV files and I tried converting to a disc, in 352, but no good I got a error message. Has anybody else tried overlaying it on top of 3.2, yet?POE
-
I wasn't for sure if I should post this here or in the software help forum. So feel free to move it if you think it's better there. Ok, I downloaded the Sonic Stage 3.4 full installer, so I preceeded to run the thing. While it was running the wizards, Spy Bot Search And Destroy decided to block the regisry edits the Setup was trying to do. It placed a shortcut on my desktop, but it's just targeted at my Sonic Stage 3.2. I'm pretty sure it was established that with this version that you don't need to remove the old version that the new one overlays on the old one? So how do I fix this? For the life me I can't figure out how to temporarily disable Spy Bot S&D. Does anybody know how to? As far as I can tell it never installed on my computer!POE
-
I'm still using SS 3.2, as a result I never have this problem. Here's a suggestion though, since it's multi artist discs try changing all the artists names blank in the Liabrary screen. Just a wild guess it seems to have issues with groups with differnt artist listings so make them all the same. I know some of you will say this info is to important to get rid of but it seems like a nice compromise to keep it from freezing up.POE

This maybe worth a try, A freind of mine has a NetMD that he has trouble with Sonic Stage recognizing it, he told me the otherday that when this happens he presses the play/enter button on the unit and it gets recognized.POE
-
The 600D is the only HIMD unit I own right now, it's alright, the build quality is not what I've been use to out of my other MDs I've owned before. The trick with it is not to pay too much for it, it's reallly not worth more than $100s or so. I got mine day after Christmas at Circuit City for (drum roll please) $29.00+tax after a $25.00 gift card. Now that's a good price for it. None the less, I still look forward to getting the RH910 avaible at this home theater shop in Charlestown.POE
-
You maybe able to record your sacds if they have a cd layer. I believe that Sony produced sacds were never produced with a cd layer, most other companies do have a cd layer. Pata2001 is correct about PCM recording on HIMD being the best, although for some space you may want to use the new 352 Atrac Plus, beaware that its only avaible trough Sonic Stage.POE

I think these MDs look very nice, good selection of colors also. I'll probably try to pick some up if I can get ahold of some.POE
