Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES
ROMBUSTERS replied to Christopher's topic in News
not a whole lot actually let us examine. if sony starts releasing audio on UMD so what? no one owns players, and Sony has no intention of making them recordable (a deliberate point to stop PSP piracy). Small music library, no support, no user recording = no big deal -
Atrac (otherwise known as SP) is the oldest codec but probably the best in terms of sound quality Atrac3 introduced LP2 and LP4 respectively Atrac3+ introduced HiSP, HiLP, and 48kbps Standard mode will attempt to transfer the audio in the form you encoded it in (if it is of Atrac or Atrac3 veriety) otherwise it will convert it to LP2 as needed (in your current set-up)
-
for the user music portion it relies on Memory Stick to hold the media. Basically you transfer the songs you want from your PC to MemStick and then plug that into the unit, but as I've mentioned before other than SS there is currently no encoding software for Atrac3+ and SS doesn't recognize MemoryStick transfer. MP3 playback will be fine though

you just contradicted yourself with your own post, but in the future if it brightends your day i will not

im well aware of how wikis work however im sure on a board like this there are more qualified people. people that have actually owned (or seen for that matter) an original MD unit (which i have not).

How low (on the MD indicator) do you allow the battery to get to before you charge it. I know they have a memory and i know its good to give it some 'exercise cycles/ where you completely drain it but will recharging at 1 bar or blinking degrade it by much? when do you normally let it get to before recharging?

this thread alone is testiment to the close-knit group of individuals with individual point of views that this forum stands for. To MDCF in 2005 -
sounds like your laser is dirty or somethins wrong with your disc try using another disc and use some compressed air to blow inside your MD unit (not too hard)
-
netMD's dont play Atrac3+ only Atrac3 so its probably LP4 (66kbps) artifacts your hearing

Reading New Minidiscs Record Netmd Sp Lp2 On A Mdlps
ROMBUSTERS replied to mimichris's topic in Minidisc
ahaha no kidding, just wait till we get Atrac4 minus/standard/plus -
have you tried other power intensive devices through your USB port? have you tried different USB ports? have you tried a different cable? Is your powersupply good enough?
-
it also fixes the problem some users experience with a security patch downloaded pre-sp2
-
as have i seen this bad end result!
-
if i had any idea what i was looking i would have made a more intelligent comment
-
there is currently no alternative software for placing audio files (that you plan on listening to through the player) on it but SonicStage. I suggest upgrading to SonicStage 2.3
-
ah yes the microsoft update problem this was fixed, i think, for SP2
-
they should let us update and run their Minidisc portion, Hi-MD is barely even touched on in there
-
ya burning them straight up wouldnt even work they way you intended on using it
-
free stuff's always good, too bad i dont live anywhere close to that though
