Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES
ROMBUSTERS replied to Christopher's topic in News
not to mention using that idea you couldnt even remove the disc until it had finished writing to it - it would take the same amount of time -
i think this is a great idea but unfortunately i have little to no experience in wikis

also try upgrading to SonicStage 2.3 for best results

for one it protects your computer from thousands of possible vulnerbilities secondly it installs a pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer thirdly it makes WinXP much more stable. A service pack is basically a package of small patches that are applied all at once. If you have WinXP you almost *need* to have SP2 you can get it by going to the Windows Update link in your Start Menu or by opening Internet Explorer and clicking Tools > Windows Update once on the site click either express or custom, it'll scan your computer for the updates it nees and then all you have to do is click download

AVLS cuts out the volume at 14, so using their way of doing things anything over level 14 could in fact damange your hearing. Although I'm sure you could go as high as 18 before anything actually started to happen. In any event I'm sure your in the clear

yes anything less than 2.2 (and even within 2.2) is utter crap, 2.3 is somewhat stable at the moment* disclaimer: thats only because its somewhat better then 2.2 and in fact might not be any better

it already exists, its called transfering all your media to your PC, then reformatting the disc, then transfering it back - this gets rid of the laser seek time you sometimes can hear during the middle of the song (although the song should still be playing from memory at that point). This is because when you add and erase and edit things on the disc the data becomes fragmented all over. While the music is playing from the buffer the laser is seeking back and forth finding bits and pieces of the data to fill the buffer back up. If you reformat a disc (also called initializing in SonicStage) and then transfer the music back, it is placed efficiently all together on the disc (thus no seek time in the middle of the song) however this is a real non-issue.

the USB cable is a standard Normal USB to miniUSB cable - the same used in MP3 players and Digital Cameras. They cost about $10 max to my knowledge there is absolutely no battery pack for the NH1 although if you really wanted to travel heavy you could get a battery-powered power supply which you could plug the cradel into to charge (if these devices even exist)

does anyone remember if OpenMG (that POS program that shipped with old NetMD units) supported SP transfer? I remember there being a 'Stereo' option along with LP2 and 4 but is this the real SP or just another fake like SonicStage uses? I it is real, why doesnt SonicStage use it?

The Past + Tawagoto Discussion relevant to news topics from many moons ago, and anything else that's needed to be archived. The trashcan of MDCF, as well. These posts represent the kind of messages we wouldn't like to see more. These include: trolls, offensive, zealotry, spam and other useless and redundant messages. i think you meant anymore*

ok, ill bite... but if your opening the folder in windows explorer, under what you said, it should have contracted to allow for maximum space remaining. Therefore it doesnt make sense that way because it would then have all the extra space available to it

ya im reading a lot of bad reviews about quality for some of these transmitters

Overlooked In '04: Tascam’s Md-cd1, Cd Playback And Md Recording
ROMBUSTERS replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
interesting find although in the new world of HiMD itd be nice to start seeing devices at least encorperate HiMD along with MD -
ya its free anyways, if you have dialup just be prepared to let it run overnight
-
no no i realise that 32x is basically the holy grail for the original MD media (formatted old-MD mode). however if you open up SS and put in an Old-MD formatted disc and transfer a song, the song transfers at a reasonable pace but then the unit displays Saving Data with a bunch of dashes which slowly go away. Why is it that this part takes so long? What is it doing if the song is already written? If it writes the TOC when the disc is ejected it cant be doing that right?
-
so you can use the iTrip with MD then?

this is very good news indeed! cant wait for more! -
hey i was wondering if any of you know (as this could in fact lower the need for HiMD car decks) if anyone else offers audio FM transmitters (similar to that thing for the iPod). A device which plugs into the unit and broadcasts the music on a certain FM station nearby, that way you could listen to your HiMD on the radio! EDIT: something like this: http://www.h45.com/site/cdfm.html

be careful though that if you record to normal MD (in old-MD mode) you will not be able to transfer to computer via USB (correct me if im wrong but ive been unable to do it thus far)
-
right, i was trying to make sure he knew that
