Still, is there any confirmation that Sony OEMs out their products. Because it doesn't make sense. Their low end is OEM'd out to Malaysia, but their NH1 is also OEM to Japanese Company?? Why not to Malaysia? Recording through Linux is not a good option, although I am intrigued by it. I have a friend who works for support section of a shop, and he says that iPods have a very high failure rate, always people bring them in. The perfect combination would be a cheapo NH600 to record and a nice iPod to listen to [dream].

The conversion tool is so you can do it overnight say, for quicker transfer later. IMO the reason they did not have 128kbps Atrac3+ is that Sony did not want to cause confusion between it and LP2.

Can I please have some info that state that high-end Sony products are manufactured by OEM's and not by Sony? And can the iPod be seen as an external usb drive when connected to any pc? Like if I take to the internet cafe and download some mp3's to it (since my home connection is bad)?

Yep, allofmp3 offers lossless. But they are raising their price 100% soon. Still good for us, non dollar users though.

I meant record music! (over 8kbps) I can record speech with my pda ffs. And I have never even talked about codecs. I (personally) prefer made in Japan Sony, than the Compal (or similar company) made iPod. No recording, no buying.

Yes, but iPod cannot record, act as a USB drive. Ipods are made by some random company in Taiwan/China. Top end Sony is made in Japan by Sony themselves. There is nothing wrong with saving money. Good for your "buds". Yeah, but I would not take an iPod to the beach, since expensive things and heat don't mix well. I did however take my cheaper md player several times. Nothing wrong with the iPod, it is excellent but a minidisc is a bit different and at least you stand out from the crowd of white earphones

Wow, I thought the rrp of gamecube was the same as that of Xbox. Anyway, I think in the UK the Xbox Live service is the main seller at the moment, although I am not really a gamer to comment.

I use it, but only for transfering files to netmd and clie. I changed the background to a nice vaio original that came with my laptop, now it is more bearable to look at. I actually think it looks better than iTunes (but iTunes spanks SS in everything else).

The reason I chose NH600 over an iPod is because: -I have digital tv with channels and channels of music (no interruption/stupid announcements) which have all the info displayed on the screen (song name etc). Hence I connect my NH600 to the reciever and record away. -iPod is too boring. It can play mp3's (very well admittedly) and nothing else. With MD I can "play" a bit more. -Sony is better quality and design (although I would not showcase the NH600 as the best of those lol). -Price: NH600 is twice as cheap as the 20gb iPod (with massive student discount). The iPod Mini does not appeal to me since it is 8h battery life and not 12h. -MD is a bit different, nobody has them, while everybody has an iPod. -Cool disks designs -MD just looks tougher, if I can an iPod I would never take to the beach for example, while the NH600 is perfect for that. I realise that an iPod is better for "just" playing mp3's but HiMD is more exciting for us technophiles.
