  1. But it cannot upload an optical recording. Plus I have a lot of older units which are very dear to me lol.
  2. Nope, it was created to use with Network Walkmans. MDLP uses only, SP/LP2(132)/LP4(66).
  3. I hope you are not using 105 Atrac3 on NetMD units, since it offers no space saving over 132 Atrac3.
  4. Kenwood units have a sought after sound, yet they sport an inferior amp to Sony's. Mw per channel is not the only thing affecting sound quality you know. Regarding the first question, I am still largely a MDLP user (not even NetMD, that is only for titling), and am happy with it. HiMD does not have optical uploading, if it did, then I would use it more.
  5. Interesting topic. IMO the encoder (hardware) gets better and better with each revision. You have the *10 model which is only one generation behind the HiMD units. So it is pretty upto date. At the same time SS's encoder is revised (supposedly) with each rev as well, and you have the latest one there as well. Interesting results (SS being better than hardware).
  6. Apparently that one will the unit to have. Very expensive though. I hope cheapelectrics has info on them.
  7. It is not just about the exchange rate. Random guess it will be between £249.99 and £279.99 lol.
  8. Can't wait to see DH10P PS. Has anyone noticed the demise of the R*9** series, the last two look a bit weird.
  9. IMO the best way to work with SS is to have a completely empty library in it, and then drag and drop the files you want to transfer to minidisc. I make the playlist in iTunes and then drag it to SS and delete (om* files) after transferring.
  10. My only gripe with iTunes it is it's bad mp3 encoder. If it had lame, I would have never used EAC as iTunes' error correcting seems good enough.
  11. No probs I fully expect the 105atrac3 to work (ie save space) on HiMD and Atrac3Cd's.
  12. I recommend a cheap recorder and the most expensive player you can find.

    Gutted

Like £140 for one I saw recently
  14. Cannot transfer from NetMD units via Sonicstage unfortunately. The only way is to copy via line-in of the computer.
  15. While that is not the answer you are looking for, I have done the same with mp3's and it worked. It even asked, whether to copy the files to the hard drive first and I said no.
  16. For OE encodings (shows 384 Max),it is reencoded from VBR 384 Mp3 file. Hence for best quality you should use mp3 lame at the highest possible setting. For OEEX (sp?) it is reencoded from uncomressed, you can use whatever format suits your needs. Personally I would go for CBR 320 Lame Mp3, just for compatability purposes. After using allofmp3 for some time, I prefer to buy CD's as the prices soon start to mount up and the quality could be questionable.
  17. NH1 is not limited by volume like the others.
  18. The answer is: 105 Atrac3 is useless since it takes the same space as LP2 and sounds worse.
  19. How about restarting SS, disconnecting and connecting again the player?
  20. No, I was talking about NV series Vaio's which came with NetMD drives.
  21. Are you using your NH900 on a formatted 300mb MD? What we are talking about is NetMD/MDLP...
  22. I believe we already know the model numbers on the next generation. (Those that have appeared in the shop posted somewhere). Just by looking at the letters it is easy to speculate what the features will bring. Offcourse the numbers could be total lie. I hope the D does not stand for Dual, but rather for Display or Digital Upload
  23. It is cheaper for companies to outsource rather than make the products at home. All they think about is the profit. Rules of market. What the goverments should do, is subsidise if they want to keep the home population having those jobs. In England all the telemarketing has moved to India, and the employees there watch "Eastenders" to get the understanding of local accents
