  1. Judging by your 1st post, if you want bass you should stay away from the iPod and that will be enough lol. Seriously, bass does not depend on the codec.
  2. A mate gave me 50 Cent - Groupie Love album, haven't listened to it yet, don't know what to expect lol.
  3. LP4 is pretty bad sounding, unless you get a Type-S unit, but even then, IMO it is poor. LP2 is worse than LAME mp3. Anything above that (Hi-SP, Type-R SP, PCM) is very difficult to distinguish from the original. iPod's neutral sound is nothing to do with different codecs, just with the iPod itself. And yes, MD players pump out much more bass than that.
  4. Can't have UMD in Minidiscs because you will waste your batteries after one minute of recording. Can't have HiMD in PSP because it will take a long time to load games. BTW, what do you need a 1GB memory stick for? Are you going to use the PSP for music?
  5. www.connect.com Don't know about offline package but you can catch the files in the temp folder (that is what I did). Anyway, I used to have the same problem after I went from XP to XP SP2. I completely uninstalled SS, removed all SS entries in the registry, deleted all folders to do with the program (carefull here if you have a Sony laptop) and then installed it again. Sorry if I can't be more specific than that.
  6. Yeah, but is russian police. Don't expect them to shut it down anytime soon.
  7. How about 4x Type R SP recording. That is even better!
  8. I remember reading somewhere that 1.5 SS worked in VPC (2k). Will try to find that post/article. Regards
  9. All of euro models come in a cardboard box.
  10. Oh okay. In that case we have never seen an Atrac3 go higher than 132kbps it seems.
  11. Or VPC with SS? My iBook is too slow for VPC period, I wonder if anyone tried it.
  12. I just installed (updraded all the way from 1.5) SS2.3 and it recognized the Aiwa NX9 without any drivers from it's cds. I then just plugged it in and that was that.
  13. Nice! I see you use the same font as in your sig as well.
  14. Is the disc really empty? Is it write-protected?
  15. 1. Yes 2. USB1 3. Mp3 Manager, a program which you launch from the disk itself. Wraps mp3's in drm, pretty slow (faster than NetMD/HiMD though). 4. Yes. And wait for the E505/507 series, which have an OLED screen and some other advantages (USB2?).
  16. The only thing NetMD is really good for is titling and creating groups lol. Having said that, I still create LP2's from my CD's collection just because I am too lazy to do it realtime through optical-in.
  17. Someone in the forum spoke to Sony about a firmware update to his S1 (?) and they said it was possible. Also the Vaio music player is updates by running a small program of it, so I hope that is the same for Hi-MD units.
  18. Recently all of Sony's dap gotten an mp3 update. The MS90D did not, but that is an 2003 model. Do you think it will happen for 1st gen HiMD units?
