  1. Nostalgia is all well and good. IMO for a new user, or someone who doesn't want to upload NetMD (or do those repair thingies) a RH1 is a better device. I assume I can still post my opinion too?
  2. I wonder will the original poster find it a useful device based on his query.I've used MD and HiMD for only 3 yrs (a lot shorter then most around here I'll admit) and I've never had to do any of those things it does. What kind of recordings, tracks on a NetMD would be so important you need to do all those things? Broadcast radio of something?
  3. That because it is unsatisfactory. The MDH-10 would seem IMO to be only useful for irreplaceable NetMD tracks, where you've deleted the original PC copy, and can't source the original again. Thats a pretty specific use case, that I imagine isn't very common.
  4. Interesting. But as I only use my HiMD for recording, uploading, I don't use SS as a player it would be of limited use to me. Pity. SS uses memory very badly. I assume At3 can't upload?
  5. Any advantages over SS? Why do you use it?
  6. I think the idea is on holidays, or travelling a lot, were you've no access to a PC, or don't want the hassle of finding one. You just bring a bunch of disks and a few AA's. Mind you unless you are going somewhere very remote, you'd probably survive with a AC>USB charger and a travel plug. The other advantage is if you simply forget to charge the HiMD or IP-A481 with the AA charger you can just run into a shop and have instant power.
  7. Whats the Name of that ATRAC Player and where did you get it?
  8. The advantage of the other device is you don't need a USB port. But maybe that Macally IP-A481 would keep you going for a couple of weeks.
  9. What is that picture off? Its not sonic stage 1.0 is it?
  10. I remembered. The name of those shops is MUJI http://www.mujionline.co.uk/
  11. Is normalising the gain and volume leveling not achieve the same thing. The same relative loudness, in a track and from track to track?
  12. SS is strange no question Regardless of the battery life on a HD dap using lossless is useful, because via a dock and a remote control you can use it as a source, and with something like a 60-80GB you could actually hold a decent library on there. On a flash player though, I'm not so sure how useful it is. Mind you I'm happy with the compromise of sticking to a lossy library for the time being, so I'm the wrong person to comment.
  13. Just a general perception I have. Its not just the ATRAC Life threads. Maybe its just me....
  14. Personally I think threads are closed too fast. You're very trigger happy. I don't frequent ATRAC life. Why not just move them to a General ATRAC sub forum. Just my 2 cents.
  15. For recording a HiMD makes sense. its no longer the best device for playback. IMO.
  16. Would Volume leveling on the player not achieve the same thing?
  17. Slow, inconvenient and counter-intuitive maybe. That said I haven't found the versions 4x unstable. I use Audiograbber & Lame for ripping to MP3. CDWave for recording on the line in. Media Monkey as my Player software SS for uploading my HiMD recordings, which I convert to WAV & MP3. I don't have a ATRAC library. My MP3 player is UMS/drag-and-drop so it doesn't need special software. I wish they'd add ATRAC and HiMD support to MediaMonkey.
  18. I thought you couldn't upload NetMD files either. Never heard of doing it this way. Thankfully I've no NetMD Files.
