  1. I always thought a lower bit rate will have more artefacts not less.
  2. I would have thought the fastest way was via RH1 into SonicStage then convert them all to MP3. How many discs and how were they recorded?
  3. Easily. The scenario when want to record something but realise you haven't charged your recorder recently. Another one is when you won't be near a AC outlet long enough, or regular enough to keep your unit charged. You might be in the field, or travelling, any number of reasons. I often use my HiMD for recording business meetings and lecturers. Quite often I simply wouldn't get the chance to charge it, its just easier to grab a AA than have the hassle of keeping it charged.
  4. Thats the killer blow right there. What happens if you run out of juice mid session? HiMD still is better than that.
  5. There are 3rd party AC USB chargers, and even battery packs that will charge USB so thats not really a major problem. Any powered hub would work aswell. My TFT has one built in and it will charge USB devices even when the PC is off. A bigger issue, and perhaps this is what you meant. If you are recording and your battery runs low, you can't swap the battery, or run off AC?
  6. http://www.apple.com/support/products/proplan.html How long is the warranty on a HiMD?

  8. I've been thinking about this. What have the ferrite cores got to do with the hum? You don't need the USB cable when recording, or when listenting to music, so its got nothing to do with the USB cable. This has been bothering me. Is there a hum in the recordings? when you use AC? That sounds like a serious flaw to me! Can't believe I didn't notice this before!
  9. Hadn't heard of these. Look interesting alright. I wonder how the battery life is when recording.
  10. You can extend warranty up to two years for the iPod. I extended my Sony Laptop to a 3yr Sony warranty.
  11. Thats simply the length of time they cover it under a warranty. Not that they only last 2 yrs. Unless you a statement you can link to that says otherwise. Look at cars, laptops, or any other product, the warranty is almost always limited.
  12. I suppose if you have distinct separate tracks on the MD that would be useful. Most of the stuff I upload or record through the line in is recordings. So the gaps are not always in the right place. So I put my own gaps in it using CD Wav. Which it can output as MP3 or WAV's or whatever.
  13. Does Hi-MD Renderer control the 900 via the USB in someway?
  14. BZ100 doesn't record to NetMD but SP which is the original MD format. If you buy a RH1 unit you'll be able to upload SP. But thats expensive. Alternatively record directly into the PC using software like CDWAVE or similar.
  15. Seems an odd question for someone with two advanced HiMD units.
  16. Buy a digital camera with a movie mode? Unless you want to record hours of audio. But why would you want to do that?
  17. Are gnomes a standard size or something? How much for the gnome BTW?
  18. To be honest I agree with you, spiff. In another forum for old computers someone posted ""the techtoys I couldn't get/afford" years ago. To be honest theres an element of that as well for me.
  19. If you want to get rid of that HiMD disk I'll trade you for a bunch of used standard disks that will work.
  20. I had a feeling you meant lossless. Would be nice, but I reckon I'm happy with HiSP myself. At least till I can afford bigger HD's.
