  1. I didn't really notice any difference in transfers and combining tracks. Perhaps its slightly faster, maybe.
  2. I can't believe you asked the same question again...
  3. Some people made AA powered USB chargers/power units. Would using one of those solve the problem? Theres a few threads on those DIY USB chargers. Heres one I posted before. I know theres others though. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17681&hl=
  4. I didn't know about the mains hum. But then I almost always use batteries.
  5. Whats a non repeat shuffle mode. A non random shuffle. Or as Apple calls it more random.
  6. Thanks. I bought a D70s 18-70 locally in the end. Learning to use it now.
  7. http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/mintybo...rger-177527.php Interesting?
  8. I'm not a fan of iTunes but I don't have the problems you are having with it. I point it at a specific directory D:\My iTunes and don't have an iPod but it remembers everything fine. It doesn't try to import my CD's but then I turn off the iPod and iTunes services to minimize the resource hit. I prefer the way iTunes handles the whole genre browsing. I find SS clunky. But I don't have a problem using either. My preferred music manager is Media Monkey. But I use it alongside iTunes, and SonicStage.
  9. Using a OS beta you have to expect problems with applications not supporting it. Which is why some people and most companies won't switch for some after the OS is finally released. Some will wait for the first Service pack.
  10. You've used it a month and you're an expert? Perhaps this is meant to be flame bait? I've never had problems with SonicStage, (or iTunes for that matter) but I don't think its a well designed application and its quite limited. Mind you Real player and media player are just as bad. At the moment I prefer MediaMonkey. Still not perfect either. The words 64kps and sound quality so not belong in the same sentence. If your happy with that fine. But a lot of people prefer higher bitrates and better sound quality. Each to their own.
  11. The same files wouldn't play in iTunes either I seem to remember. Maybe its a codec problem?
  12. I had this problem too. In earlier version of SS combine didn't work to well either so I used to convert to wav and combine in another app. Recent version of SS seem to do it ok though.
  13. I had a similar problem with some MP3's that I hadn't encoded myself. I transcoded them in another app using LAME and that fixed them for me. Dunno what caused it. I suspect there were an old MP3 format but my memory is hazy on it now.
  14. Dunno about the repairing side of it. But I would say having a 2nd unit is handy as you can use one machine while the other is used to transfer to and from disks and record etc. Or even just to charge the batteries etc.
  15. Thats how I use it too. Unless you want to play with it out of curiosity I wouldn't worry (yet) about Vista. Sony will probably do an update for SSS to work with it, for their MP3 players and HiMD will get it by default.
  16. Do you have a guide price. What about shipping international etc.
  17. Personally I think ABX tests are useful in finding out your own preferences. For me that might mean I prefer cassettes over CD's or MP3's.
  18. Answer the question Where do you get the idea "In short: Atrac3+ devices has no ATRAC1 write capabilities" ???
  19. Modern unit with PCM adds "bits"
  20. You mean SP via SonicStage is LP2. Thats old news. Real time recording though on all models should be the same SP 292kps. But most people can't hear the different between that and HiSP 256kps. In truth the difference is very little. Where do you get the idea "In short: Atrac3+ devices has no ATRAC1 write capabilities" ???
