  1. Unfortunately the quality of new modern portable CD players is overall inferior to older players. As they are built cheaper, and sound quality is less important than a long list of extra gimicky features and long battery life. So in many cases a well encoded track from a good source usually sounds better on a well regarded MP3 player than a CD portable. Theres lots of threads on Head-Fi about this. I haven't heard a HiMD with a HD amp, but some of the MP3 players I have or had, sound (in my subjective opinion) better than my CD portables and also than my MD/HiMD's (no HD amp).
  2. Where will you deliver too and what sort of price are you thinking of?
  3. I think you get used to the sound of a device and everything else sounds different. You might prefer the sound of one unit over another but if its actually "better" is debatable, or at least subjective.
  4. Recording is the same on them all as far as I know. I like my nh700 myself.
  5. It didn't occur to me you'd be multitasking on a low end machine. But I guess for light tasks why not.
  6. Dual booting would be quicker I'd assume, especially on a lower spec machine.
  7. Build wise I preferred the Sony G750 I had before, solid and weighty controls. Menu wise my original Sharp SR75. The controls buttons and menus were just logical. The sharp was also built very well.
  8. My MH700 is poorly made too. Flimsy and the controls menus etc make no sense. Battery cover a joke. If it was cheap you could overlook it. But HIMD are expensive units. At least where I am.
  9. Anyone here using MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab. Genereally I don't like using automatic filters to clean up audio as I find it deadens\compress the output more than I like. I've been told that MAGIX Audio Cleaning Lab is ok. Has anyone tried it?
  10. Well I've a P&S Nikon 3700 which I think is great quality for a 3.2mp. It also has a 640x480 movie mode which I really like aswell. Saves me carrying a camcorder. If I wanted to get something better, for picture quality, movies and speed I think I'd go for a Fuji 9500, or the high end Sony DSC-H2/5. Otherwise if still picture quality was the primary factor I think I'd go for a entry level DSLR Nikon D50, Canon 350D or similar.
  11. Whats the difference between a Point and Shoot Optical viewfinder and a DSLR viewfinder?
  12. For a viewfinder you'd need to move up to a DSLR.
  13. I think you missed the part where he said he had a Mac?
  14. I found the SQ decent enough, but they are impossible to keep in. The imbalance on the light cable means that left one is always getting yanked out. Because of that and the bad microphonic's I simply can't use these on the move. I need to be stationary. Even moving around at a desk or in bed the left is always yanked out. I've stopped using them.
  15. MDR-EX90 seem to get favorable comments. But are a bit pricey.
  16. I mainly use mine with the computer. I find the bass too upfront.
  17. I actually find the PMX comfy. I don't actually wear them out in public...shudder...
  18. ...and lots, probably the majority have a line in aswell.
