  1. Whats the model number.
  2. There were a few people looking for this feature to replace their MD decks. I don't think many people know about it. I didn't realise it had it.
  3. I don't like like LP2 myself (hardware or software) but I thought the popular opinion was that ATRAC was better for low bitrates than same bitrate MP3's. I would also depend on the piece of music you using test. Some artifact worse than others.
  4. Do the connect store versions cause a problem if you've no net access? 'MP3' theres a big difference between a 64kps MP3 and a 192-320kps lame encoded one. I wish people would make that differenciation.
  5. Lots of people still listen to Vinyl, and you can still get it. CD isn't prefect reproduction.
  6. I don't see what it gets you. 256kps is very close to 352kps, hard to tell the difference and thats almost 100kps difference. You must have X-Men hearing to notice 4kps difference even with different encoders especially at that low bitrate. Why 320 vs 352? File size difference would be neligible. You won't hear the difference. Unless you've X-men hearing.
  7. My typing is almost bad as your own. I meant to say never used before. Since its mentioned on the web I assume its on the connect player for the A Series sony walkman.
  8. I assume it relies on your music being very well tagged. I tend to avoid tagging with multiple artists as it makes naviation/tagging of compilations harder.
  9. I never use the SonicStage feature "linked artists". I was wondering does anyone else find it useful?
  10. Why do you want 320kps?
  11. I thought XMLSPY might be able to do it, but I don't see it as option. Those file editors are soooo handy for these kinda things. If I had time I'd write a little app to do it, make it easy to experiment with different fonts. But its kinda something you don't do very often.
  12. I downloaded a trial of UltraEdit-32 which allowed me to replace <font> with <font><AntiAliasQuality>2</AntiAliasQuality> across all *.xml files in that dir with one find and replace. Might save someone a lot of time. I switched the font to arial myself. Not sure if I like the look though.
  13. Worked for me anyway. Bit slow installing. Can someone post a link back to the clear type tweak. I did a search but didn't find it.
  14. Nice to see a new version. Doesn't seem to offer anything new for HiMD users though. No European version yet though?
  15. Not if you use a bigger font with the higher res. Anyway small MP3 players manage it.
  16. Try Sony via the web. Because its only 1 month out side they might fix it out of goodwill.
  17. Its a pity the display isn't higher res so you could see long titles without scrolling.
  18. I'd respect more the choice of someone with some experience of the devices they are lambasting.
  19. From the first post. My knickers aren't in a twist, I'm laughing my ass off. I love the logic, a HD player is too big, a Flash player is too small. You don't want all your music on one disk you want it on loads of discs. But then you want a bigger 2GB+ disks so you have less disks. iPods are bad because they don't have a radio, even though you can buy a radio remote for them, and there isn't a radio MD model anymore. iPod is bad because its not drag and drop, even though MD isn't either. You critise iPods for not beign able to record, then praise the MD download only units. Some people reckon flash players don't have good SQ, but then others reckon they do, as long as they aren't an apple one. You don't want to talk about SQ unless its about how MD has better SQ, even with 64kps files and stock iDuds. You'll note that a lot what was wrong with MD units has been addressed on the latest units. That not been achieved by being blind to MD faults, as the MD fan boyz are. But by pointing faults out and Sony finally getting their finger out and actually doing some work on the format. Forget about the Shuffle, you don't get it. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/attachment....53&d=1110489572 http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showpost.ph...6&postcount=586 http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y100/Elep...headphones1.jpg I like my MD & HiMD unit but I'm not blind to their faults.
  20. Get a grip and compare like with like. Can you not just stay on topic for once, instead of the tired auld rabid fanboz MD sound bits. HD players have nothing to do with the topic. So I'll ignore those points they are not relevent. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The comparison was made between using a cheap HiMD with a SINGLE disk and a flash based player. If you lose the flash based player you have all your music on your PC suitably backed up. The same as you do with your SonicStage library. What do you do when you out and only have one disc with you, and want to add more music? Pop into a music store and buy an album? No you can't. So you head back home and get a new disc or go to a PC and switch the content on your disk. Mind you we were talking about having a HiMD and only one disk so swapping disks isn't an option. As for a radio, most MD don't have those either (and no current model). Most flash players do. As for muggers choice earphones, that can only assume you use the stock buds. If you are doing that then forget talking about SQ. SQ doesn't exist with stock buds with almost any player regardless of format or bitrate. Speaking of bitrates = SQ well it depends on the headphones you are using doesn't it. Again if you are using stock buds you're not going to notice much of a difference past 192kps. So thats a complete blind alley aswell. Most flash players can play a wide range of bitrates to equal those on MD. Again there no point in listening to PCM with stock earbuds on a noisey commute. The Shuffle is well regarded by many audiophiles as having great SQ for a portable. Its simply not the same as the rest of the iPods. That you don't make the distinction means you are not aware of that. Of course you need decent phones to hear it. The Shuffle doesn't need a screen, its designed for random music listening. If you want a player with a screen and different navigation there are many units that do have those features, with as good SQ.
  21. I've had a problem some MP3's like that, I think mine where MPEG v1 or something like that. Couldn't find any player that liked them. Came from an iPod. I was only backing up someones iPods so thankfully it wasn't my music. iTunes had no problem with them and could convert them to another format. Maybe your problem is similar.
  22. Would changing the remote not resolve that?
