I 've just recieved my Onkyo MD-133 himd deck 3 days ago from pricejapan.com (importation from japan).it sounds very good. Including shipping and voltage transformer (I live in France) I payed 450 €. There is a cheaper Onkyo model: MD-105FX (350€ including shipping and transformer)

I've try to make a himd bootable with instructions you've given one month ago, but (perhaps because I'm french or not very clever!) I failed. My computer is recent and bios allows boot from usb, that's not a problem. I know how to change the boot order in the bios. But the computer says it didn't find boot sectors on the disc (md). As nero doesn't make bootable usb disk, but only bootable CD, have I to use mkbt software to put bootables sectors on md? when you have choiced " no emulation, sector boot to 4" in nero, what is the next step? where to find the boot image? You may think I'm a little stupid or lazy, but if you could give a step-by-step tutorial, I think lot of people in this forum would be interested. Regards.

As portable player MD is only one option, but as "portable + home hifi + car audio " player, it has no competitor

For playing portable MD through car audio device, no problem: I got aux input on my alpine. But I 'd like: - the convenience of just plug in the disc in the indash unit, no cables,problem of power, vibrations etc.. - play the track name - bypass the low-level and not hifi-sounding phones output of the portable (RH-10).

I've recieved my onkyo md-105FX from Audiocubes 3 month ago. I 'm very pleased with it, good sound (but the DAC doesn't reach the quality of my excelent MDS-ja20ES) - PCM and atrac3+ is a great improvment over old SP- but it lacks phones and optical output. Now I will order the MD-133 from Pricejapan because the prices are much cheaper (with power inverter and including shipping :430€ vs 580€) . Now I liked an Sony ES range himd deck, but more than everything: a himd car unit!!: Sony, Alpine, Kenwood,... please!!

I don't agree: hi-sp sounds best than old sp, especially with difficult music that has a lot of high harmonics like Miles Davis, cymbals etc. transitory is best, sharper.

I imagine a video with a boy who goes work morning and just take the MD a friend gave him the day before, enter his car and plug the disc in the car unit: no necessary swich on the computer, etc.. the ad could also show that you can share photos, videos (divx), and make professional quality live recordings and high fidelity players (decks). The idea is to present himd like a modern multimedia and the nostalgic ability of share with our friends, to do a gift to our girfriend with lovesongs compilation etc... MD = the good old tape reliability of the 70 + multimedia ability of the third millenium . I think one day people will be tired with cold unhuman share of internet, and will want high fidelity listening again.

Do not agree: they lost Audiophiles music lovers when cd recorders came because md was lossy. HImd with pcm is different.

Yes but since Himd Onkyo decks exist, Himd car unit is what I need (Sony hear too...). Think to RH-1O with the size of NH-1 and recordable radio...mmm
