I ve made several blind testes to compare pcm vs atrac3+ 352kbps (ripped in high quality): it is very hard to distinct them, even with difficult musics like Miles Davis Jazz. I use PCM on 1GB himd for very important musics, and atrac3+ 352kbps (high quality ripped) for others. To listen in the street or in the car (using MZ-nh900 combined with connects2 adapter and sony cd car reciever), 1GB disc full with 6 hours atrac3+ (high quality ripped) recordings is more than perfect. Anyway for all recordings, I make a lossless bakup using AAL (advanced atrac lossless)- high quality - 352kbps (bitrate of the lossy part), and I keep it on DVDs. When I want to offer a copy for a friend or my girlfriend, I use this backup: transferring a complete LP record (60 min of music) to 80 min regular MD with MZ-RH1 takes less than one minute: and you obtain a tip top quality recording ! for French md lovers, the cheapest way to buy 1GB hiMd are: http://www.busiboutique.com/cgi-bin/shopdi...catalogid=57651 (shipping 8 ) http://www.e-avantage.com/product_info.php...ducts_id=180017 (shipping 6)

I've never hear any noticeable noise with 105FX, but I'll hear more carefully... Honestly, their is little difference between md-133 an Md 105FX sound. (Comparison made with Sony MDR-CD3000 headphones through Sony DA50ES Amplifier) With some musics, MD-133 has a little larger stereo separation, and generaly slight higher frequency response, but can sometime sound a little tirering compared to 105FX ! MD-105FX is very well balanced and finally nearer of sony decks sound than MD-133. (saddly There is still no himd version of the fantastic sony MDS-JA20ES high-end deck ). Conclusion: MD-105FX is a very good value.

I will never stop using himd for hifi audio listenning ( using very good himd Onkyo decks...) and archiving. It has the perfect size for clear labelling and easy stockage. And I like one Album/ one disc. I also like thema compilations/ disc. Although I hope an himd car unit , I can live with Connect2 adapter + sony CD reciever. The perfect car unit would be a combination of Big hard drive + Himd drive... For very important work or personnal files, I will continue to stock them on Mds (in fact 2 differents discs for more security), because I know several collegues who lost their whole work or family photos when their hard drive crashed! I have also some movies on himds : encoding with h264/AAC you can put among 3 hours of very good video on 965MB himd. Nonetheless, It is possible I will use a diffferent media (solid state) for live recording: no moving parts is more adapted for recording on the move. In fact, what would make me abandonning Himd, would be some 5GB Superhimd ! It is technically possible , using DVD instead of CD laser lengh wave: ie combination of Himd and MDdata2 (650MB MD-view for special Sony camcorder)

NEW! HI-MD for sale in Europe NH900 SILVER BNIB!
garcou replied to el_minidisco's topic in Classifieds
And it is compatible with connect2 car audio adapter for text display. I've got one in my car -
I use himd for music but also data as work , photos, videos, etc I've got 2 Onkyo's himd decks, and I can live with my connects2 car audio adapter (with MZ-nh900, it allows control and displays titlle on standard sony cd recievers). Considering the very best sounding of Atrac3+ (and pcm!) and greatesr capacity, I Will never go back to old MDLP/SP.

I have more than 100 hi-md, and 300 standard MD, on which I put music , video ( H264 encoded) , family photos, and work. Never lost one data with Sony's and TDK's discs, but had some problems with others like Hispace, Emtec... I've often lost datas on DVDs... Anyway, for very important datas (work , family photos), I always make doubble saving.

from the members tab. just counted the number of pages with at least one post members.

to play mp3s on onkyo's himd decks you'll have to convert them to atrac3+ (or PCM!) first. If you absolutely need to play native mp3s, MZ-RH1 has true line out to be connected to an hifi amplifier and will play mp3s very fine.

We wanted to compare 2 lossy codecs atrac SP(292kbps) and atrac3+ hisp (256kbps). For this purpose it is necessary to play on the same hi-end harware (for example Onkyo MD-133 deck), the same track (for example "flamenco sketches" on miles davis Kind of Blue), recorded both in SP atrac and hi-SP atrac3+. As R50 cannot play atrac 3+, you cannot make this compairison... (MD-133 has no headphone output, which is a downside for me! )

I've recently sent an email to pricejapan for they add Kashimura TI-35 voltage transformer as option with onkyo himd decks. They listed it with MD-105FX in addition with churi ccw-50 ( much more expensive but made in japan). Kasimura seem to bre made in china but I'm very satisfied of it. TI-35 is wordwide 110-130V (75W) or 220-240V (30W) ( l l ) -----> 100V ( l l ) . Continental Europe consumers will need a ( o o ) ----> ( l l ) conversion plug. All the Kashimura transformers: http://www.kashimura.com/goods/kaigai/trans.html Especially for european consumers: - for Hi-MD decks : TI- 352 is 220-240V (35W) ( o o ) -----> 100V ( l l ) - for bookshelves (like onkyo X-B8) : TI- 1002 is 220-240V (100W) ( o o ) -----> 100V ( l l ) Today I've send this second email to Pricejapan: First thank you for listing kashimura TI-35 with onkyo's himd decks. Could you also list KASHIMURA TI-3k (o o) ---> (l l) conversion plug for continental Europe consumers? it would be perfect! (I think TI-3K will be usefull with CHURI transformer too for continental Europe). Kashimura TI-3k is find for 180 JPY at: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/mapcamera/4907986200034/ Thank you again.

I went to himd on wich I stock music , work, photos, even some xvid or h264 videos... Will never go back to poor old MD. for Hifi listenning I'd like an ES style Sony deck, but I can live With the very good Onkyos. In the car, I still hope for a himd car unit, but I can live with my nh900 conected to sony cd car unit via Connect2 adapter.

for me hisp atrac 3+ is far better than old sp atrac, especially in the high frequencies range: much more clear, best transitory. Just try miles Davis "Kind o Blue": old sp artifacts on trumpet have disappear with hisp.

The advantage of the OMA format is that it supports tags (tittles, like mp3) and attached image (the cover for example to be displayed with mz-DH10P). Wav do not support tags. So the best is AAL (Advanced atrac lossless without copy protection). it is equal to wave or pcm in term of quality and supports tags and image.

just use this software: tapEdit (the pack contains tapEdit.exe 3.0, an md template and an md cover example) tapedit.zip original: printed cover : result:
-
but what do you want? With current version of Sonicsatge (4.3) and RH1 you can dowload , upload , any type of analog/digital(optical-USB) - exepted MDLP SS transfered tracks - convert them to wave or unprotected atrac, from a computer to another...

Updated Sony NETJUKEs slated for Oct/Nov Release in Japan
garcou replied to kevinz4444's topic in News
You didn't look carefully: it's blue but it's 74 min MD... Sony is insane! they spent lot of research and developpement with Hi-MD , and doesn't implement it in they new units!! When you think himd unit can play and record in SP/mdlp modes, it's really a piece of nonsense !§*?§%??!! I think S as Sony, as Suicide...
