  1. Foo Fighters - Times Like These, then its Threshold - Dead Reckoning album.
  2. Awesome, thanks for the reply mate. Ordered it from MDC.
  3. I have the MZ-N510 (and soon the MZ-NH600D) so I'm just wondering what LCD model remotes work with this MD player. My MZ-NF520D came with a remote, but it doesn't work on my 510, different plug. I'm looking at a RM-MC33EL because it's backlit, so I was hoping that this model works with the 510 and maybe even the 600? I seem to remember there being a post on which remote works with which model, but I don't know if the 510 was listed there. Thanks in advance. -Brian
  4. Everything good is being discontinued, the Chevrolet Astro, Polaroid film, and I'm betting the Minidisc format. I guess the problem is, there's too many sheep in this world
  5. I recently bought an MZ-N510, 30 Maxell 74 MDs, an MZ-NE410, 10 Sony Premium MDs, 10 Music Jack MDs, and an MZ-NH600D HiMD player. The NH600D and NE410 and 20 MDs are still in the mail I felt as though I needed some more MD equipment before it becomes extremely hard to get.
  6. Are these still available? If so, do you ship to Canada?
  7. Very true in all aspects. They just don't make stuff like they use to. Stereos I don't think are rated the same anymore, cars aren't as powerful as they use to be, and stuff just overall isn't the quality it use to be. They have made a lot of improvements, but they have also made a lot of "deprovements" (if thats a word, you get what I mean though). I still use my MD player, and I will try to use it as long as I can. I have 1 main unit, my N510, and a backup as of now, MZ-NF520D. When my NE410 arrives, that will be kept in storage. I ordered it brand new still in the package, so maybe there is still hope in the future, I don't know. All I do know, is I'm trying to get as many discs, and players as I can to save for the future. I doubt it, but I hope MiniDisc makes a return someday. /Brian
  8. I've recently come back to my old MD player from using my iPod. The sound quality is definitely a lot better than the iPods. I ordered an N510 online and it arrived just the other day, also ordered 30 MDs from MinidiscCanada which arrived the same day. Been playing with it all day today, such a great little player and format. I use my MZ-NF520D in my work truck through a line-in in my stereo and its just great. LP2 is all I need in quality. Good to see the format is still alive
  9. I only have about 30 standard MD's. I just ordered a 30 pack of em online. Still waiting for 2 players to come in the mail.
  10. MD for sure. With the sound quality and reliability of my MZ-NF510D, I'd highly recommend MD to anyone looking for a portable media player. It was a very low end model, and well, it has put up with a lot and it's still working 100%. No problems what so ever. I have an iPod Nano and already I'm having some stupid problems. The battery is starting to show it's sign of age.

  12. I wasn't saying that vinyl was crap compared to cd. I have many vinyl records, and they sound far superior to my cd's. I have a fairly high quality stereo in my room. My turntable sounds better than my cd player (on a good vinyl record) and it goes through an analogue connection. I find analouge gives a better, fuller sound than digital IMO. My dads tape deck can make a tape sound AS GOOD AS a vinyl record.
  13. New cd players may be far superior to older cd players in the fact that the lasers are a bit better, and the features are better comparitively. However, they use the same basic principle as the older cd players. The DAC's may be a bit better and such, but I don't think the overall quality of the audio is any better. I don't know what your listening to, but the cd's I have (some fairly new ones, and some really old ones) and they all have the same clarity on my DVD and Cd player. My CD player is actually 18 years old (checked the manual just now) and my DVD player is 11 months old. They BOTH sound the same to me. I can't tell a difference between the two. The only problem with my CD player is that the tray will sometimes pop back out when I put a cd in it. But other than that, theres nothing wrong with it. The signals that come out of my DVD and CD player are both a component system (so I guess it's an analogue signal) but they still sound damn good. If you can tell the difference between a digital and an analogue signal, then by all means, do what you will. But I personally can't tell a difference between analogue and digital. From my understanding, analogue is better for capturing the entirety of the audio signal, digital has a certain limitation. It would be like hooking an analogue turntable up to a digital amplifier, then going to a set of speakers through an analogue line. Whats the point? But, you know, since I'm young, I'm an idiot. So I'll leave it at that.
  14. It's a digital signal. It will sound the same regardless (unless the disc is messed up). In a component system, the signal that goes to the receiver usually isn't amplified, and in that case, it should sound the same as the next CD player. My 16 year old Realistic CD player sounds just as good as my 1 year old Sony DVD player.
  15. The receiver I have is an STAV-3200 Digital AM/FM Receiver. The original list price for it was $799.99 CAD lol. It's still working great, apart from one problem, it won't tune in FM signals in stereo (not that I care much) but it will tune in mono. I don't use it for that though, I use it for my minidisc player, dvd, cd's and records. All of which, sound great through it. If I only had a better set of speakers on the receiver, it would sound so much better. My dad said that he had a few friends over who started making comments (rude ones) about the receiver and speakers, so he turned it up pretty loud and made them all eat their words I found it funny when he told me that. Happened before my time though
  16. I'd much rather have my MD player than my iPod or an MP3 player mainly because it isn't so small in comparison. The reason? I prefer a device with a bit of weight to it. It usually reminds me if I have forgotten it or not. If I don't feel the weight of it in my pocket, it will cause me to start searching for it, so then I know I haven't left it behind anywhere. I can see the MD's starting to become more popular, but they will never be as popular as the iPod
  17. Speaking of speakers, my dad has a set of Realistic Mach 1000 speakers (100 wat RMS, 160 peak) with 15" woofers in em, and I'll tell you, for being 17 years old, they rule compared to all other speakers I have heard. I should see if I can get a picture of them without the grills on the front, they look so mean I beleive the Realistic speakers he has were made in Canada, I'm not too sure on that though.
  18. I hope they release a cheaper model than the MZ-M200, I don't have that kind of money to spend on an MD player. I'd like to buy a new one soon as mine is getting kind of old/used harshly. It's still working and in good shape, but I fear it may die one day on me. Though, it hasn't shown any signs of aging or dieing yet, so I suppose I'm really worrying about nothing.
  19. Makes total sense. I don't know if this is true or not, but wasn't betamax superior to VHS as well?
  20. So true, I've listened to other people's iPods and generic MP3 players, and their songs sound so horrible. I can't stand listening to a song thats been encoded at 128kbps by Xing, it sounds all squishy and I hate it. I love it when I listen to my MD and I hear all the cymbals being clearly regenerated and the bass is great, very deep. Agreed. I haven't had any major problems with any of my MD's, other than one failing (It was a blue one, so it irritated me as I had a purple one that still worked, so I cracked open the shell and transferred the discs ). As for portability, I always have 2 or 3 discs with me anyway, so it's great and I don't mind. I'll sacrifice a tiny amount of convenience for great sound quality on the run. Some people I know at school say "The only reason I never got a Minidisc player was because they can skip". And I always say to them, that may be true, but with my cheap little MZ-NF520D player, I have never had a disc skip. Little do they realize the disc only has to spin up for a few seconds to load about a minute and a half of audio into memory. I really hope MD comes back.
  21. Wouldn't it be funny if you could get only get 80 minutes in some new recording format they may be working on? I bet that would sound amazing
  22. I've seen 2 people in my school using MD players (both looked like mine, one was identical to my unit, but the other was a blue one like mine without radio) and that is all I have ever seen in public. I wonder why MD never really caught on
  23. There was an episode of CSI where Nick Stokes used an MD player with a speaker in it (I think it was this one: MZ-B10) to play back some recorded telephone conversation. I'll see if I can get a screenshot of it. I just need the episode name
  24. I really hope MD comes back (well, around here it never was all that popular). I really wish it would come to these parts, everyone has a friggin iPod (I myself have one, but I find I'm using my MD player more and more everyday). The main reason I really wish it would start up here, is so I can get a new MD player and some discs. I only have a few MD's right now (about 18 or so) but I still love having them. People really need to know what it is they are buying, iPod isn't the way to go (IMO, poor sound quality compared to an MD player with the same headphones). I just hope they release a new MD player that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and has good battery life, good sound (I don't any of them don't) and is between $100 and $200 Canadian. The MD player I have now was $129.99 when I got it (MZ-NF520D). And I hope blank MD's get cheaper/easier to find, and they release some pre-recorded ones too, that would make my day
