Stuge, I guess you always expect the price of electronics to fall but I just didn't expect it so soon. And to show what a complete fool I am went and got an S705 for my wife from the SonyStyle e-auction at a very good price so I sort of came out ahead Pity hers black too not pink or gold. The Recording cable may pop up here eventually. I'm enjoying using the S706 on the train as I it really helps block out the loud talkers and iPod owners Hope you're still happy with your gold S703.
-
Stuge, Yes, Sony did drop the price of S706 & S705 just after Christmas (and a week after I bought the S706) by about $30-$40 AUD. It was only out for 2-3 weeks before they changed the prices....bastards. That's what you get for not waiting. They've updated SonyOz to now show the clear plastic case $49.95AUD as well as the belt clip and leather case.
-
Stuge, I prefer the sound from the E407 to the A1000. The pouch I use is the soft drawstring one that came with the E407, it is also good to polish the S706. I'm thinking of getting the clear case as it is about half the price and also perhaps Sony will sell the leather one cheaper at some later stage like they did with the leather A1000 case ($5AUD SonyStyle special offer).
-
Dura, You should definitly hear an improvement over the A3000 with an S70* You can also adjust the sensitivity of the noise cancelling microphones too. Zizone thanks for the zero volume listening tip.

Stuge, Thanks for sharing pictures of your Gold S703. It really looks nice. A well thought out and detailed review. I really agree with your comment "It is much fuller & richer when compared with NW-A1000." Do you think that the E40x & E50x sound better than the A1000 too? Oddly I've noticed that the supplied earphones fit much better with the mid size buds instead of the small size which I use for all my other earphones. I didn't realise how heavy it feels which makes it such a shame that Sony didn't include a lanyard with it. Anyone who sees mine will think its an Imation player as I'm using an Imation flashdrive lanyard. It also lives in one of those soft draw string bags that Sony used to supply with its players. Sony Australia has the Leather Case & ClearCase with belt clip and are as Stuge says expensive at $59AUD & $29AUD. Unfortunately Sony has decided to invent yet an other unique player connection for the USB cable for these players.

CP or SS seem have one database regardless of how many different ATRAC devices you connect to them. We have two A1000 and if I remember you can give them different names in CP (eg A1000L or A1000P) to differentiate them. The software reads what is currently loaded on either player. What would you want to do with two databases ? Couldn't you just copy the songs you want from CP to either player as required?
-
The Noise cancelling headphones that come with the S7** have a 3.5mm stereojack but it has a lug on one side which will make it impossible to fit into a standard connection.
-
No reset button ehh, that makes things a little difficult. Thanks for the in Stuge.
-
Welcome Beth, Usually the reset button is a small hole on the back of the player which which you activate by poking with a straightened end of a paper clip. Its location should be detailed at the front of your operating manual along with the layout of buttons and features. If you've lost or misplaced your manual you can obtain one from the Downloads section of the forum. It that doesn't help then you may have contact Sony as Stuge suggests.

The replacement earbuds you see on the internet are usually a set of all three sizes. I wonder how many people actually use the large size ? It would be good if you could send back the size/s you don't use and swap them for the size you do.
-
Congrats on your new Ex51s. $10 a bud is that just one or the pair? White and pink would look like a packet of marshmellows Give the different sizes a try. I found the smallest the most comfortable and use them even though the medium size has a better sound and more isolation. Also becareful with the plastic carry pod its internal ribs can pinch the cords sometimes. It didn't damage mine but left a permanent dint in the cord.

They look great. Thanks for putting them up. However I'm getting page not found for the S600 series, looks like it worked ok for 5 previous people The S200 & S700 downloaded with no problem.

You should be able to use the AC adaptor that comes with the A1000/A1200/A3000 & MZ-RH1 as it has a normal USB connector which you plug your cable into and then plug the mini-USB end into your S205F. I've used it to charge NWE407/505. Select the appropriate model for your country and order from your Sony parts supplier. Check the service manuals available on this forum site. Model Part# AC-508U (AEP,UK) 1-479-577-11 AC-508U (US, CND) 1-479-577-21 AC-S505U (AUS,KR) 1-479-577-41 You will also need an AC power cord for it. 1-555-074-32 AUS 1-823-935-61 UK 1-823-947-61 KR 1-824-910-41 AEP 1-829-810-21 US, CND

kerfuffle, You've got the right idea. The only way to buy Sony earphones in Australia is from overseas as the prices here are plainly attrocious. The some of the best buys for the new Sony EX52, EX85 & Ex90 are Sony HongKong where they are half price or less.
-
Went to the (Sydney) Townhall Sound Centre has Ex51 @$69 and the newer Ex32 @$59 along with Ex85 @$149. The Ex32 is comparable to the Ex51 but it could be prone to problems where the wire joins the earphone itself as it doesn't have the long sheath like the Ex51. Annoyingly the Ex32 like the EX85 is as usual cheaper in NZ by nearly $20 .
-
Well spotted, Kerfuffle. Is this part of Sony's stealth advertising technique. You'd think that one of their newletter's would have mentioned that the S70* is released. The S706F is really tempting but the $439.00AUD is a real turn off. Especially since my wife bought a 4GB green iPod $299 for her niece. I'd think that the $199.99/199.00 for the E005F is a typo. 07Dec - still no mention of these new S70* models on the SonyOz home page as they are still pushing the Sports S20**. Very odd. Oh well atleast the S70* are acknowledged in Australia now.

The Sony WALKMAN 1000 SERIES LEATHER CASE CKMNWA1000 (RRP $39AUD) was on special from SonyStyle for $5- ealier this year. NB: it is in soft white leather so don't handle it after reading a newspaper. You could try contacting them or a Sony Central Store to see what sort of price they've got it at now since it is for a now discontinued model. There is also the WALKMAN 1000 SERIES POLYESTER CASE CKSNWA1000 (RRP $29AUD) in a black neoprene material.
-
Try the downloads section of the forum. There is a service manual for the A1000 which will be a handy reference if you're brave enough to take one apart.
-
HolyCow that's almost half the price it is down here in Australia !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (our RRP is $299AUD = $233US). Maybe Sony would sell a few more units around the world if they were at US prices.
-
Unfortunately SonyOz appears to be concentrating on trying to move the S20xx models and look to have let the S70x release date slip. Same for SonyNZ.
-
Seems the NW-S70x are going to miss Christmas
-
Yeh, what's with the lack of colours outside Japan. Maybe an idea to check that FM frequency range on the Japanese model will cover the range in your country first.
-
Yep, I tried to find the Japanese RRP for the S205. Found a site which seemed to indicate about 20,000 Yen or about $171US. No wonder they often include more accessories for their domestic models if the ones in America are cheaper.

Gee, Stuge your prices are even higher than ours. Comparison of RRPs in US$ Model US CANADA NZ UK AUS INDIA S205 150 159 202 229 232 245 S203 120 133 168 172 193 201

JB-HiFi in Sydney have the Ex51s @ $79AUD which you would think is a little high when they are due to be replaced very soon.
