  1. Yeah, there's quite a lot on Amazon, but the thing is a majority of those MD-related items are being sold from Amazon Marketplace merchants, not Amazon itself.
  2. Lots of people still need rechargeable AA batteries - lol 4 out of the 5 posters in this thread use them. The NH600, NH600D, NH700, NHF800, and some older MD units can't use NiMH gumsticks or the Li-ion, not to mention a lot of other electronics and household-ish items.
  3. People also like the DH10P because it is a collectible unit. No other ones have that screen or camera. Finding one at $99, or even under $200, makes it even more popular.
  4. Exactly. No store pickup means they ship it to you from their warehouse. It even says that's what they'll do in that little grey box if you look carefully. "Shipping: Usually leaves our warehouse in 1 business day"
  5. Yep. At the bottom, in the small grey box, it says, "Store Pickup: Not Available."
  6. It's a nice function to have, but I've never used it. For me, MD for music; USB stick for data. When I'm on the go, I need to go fast, small, and without an extra cable.
  7. That is exactly what lamewing did and I believe he made some profit on eBay.

    Buying LIP-4WM

lol When I was typing my answer, I thought, "Hmm, this feels like deja vu." I went back to the previous posts and sure enough, this topic was kind of talked about already. Oh well, at least it helps out people who are in a hurry and don't want to read through 5 pages. Or, it helps those who just need more reassurance. I've been to Asia and other countries and I've found that although Coke cans and bottles look the same, they can taste very different. I don't know what it is, but the Coke flavor isn't quite the same everywhere.
  9. I'm not sure I like the new styling of the D777. That headband looks really comfy though. But, in that pic, it looks like it doesn't fold as compactly as the old Eggos. Very cool that Sony didn't kill their Eggo line like they're doing with other things...
  10. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...mp;type=product But, the specs are a little different from the Sony gumsticks: Energizer 1.2V 1200mAh Sony 1.2V 1400mAh I'm not a battery guru so don't quote me on it working.

    Buying LIP-4WM

Yeah, the one that hasn't been confirmed is the one with just "Li-ion" on it because no one has seen it packaged with any Hi-MD units and they're found on eBay. There are 2 legit ones that I know of - the circular graphic with the toll-free phone number were found with a North American unit, while the interlocking recycle arrows with my Japanese units. That's the pattern I've found with the units I've got or seen first-hand (see pic below). Don't know how it is with European/Aussie units though. From Nismo96. Note the "Li-ion" one at the bottom. Edit: I forgot to mention that no one's had any problems with the eBay Li-ion batteries so far. (lol Didn't want to sound like I was against buying eBay batteries because I think they're a great bargain.)
  12. Very unbelievable, yeah, but it has happened. Lightning can strike twice. Looks like thrice now with nathantw666. Check the posts by MDCF member, lamewing. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...ost&p=99828

    MZ-NH700L

Small side note: And, the "L" means it's a blue NH700.
  14. Sadly, I think you'd be very lucky to find any MD unit for sale in Sony stores. The SonyStyle here only had the RH910 and right now it's no longer in stock. They do have plenty of those beans and other mp3 players. But, some people on MDCF have had luck of finding units for cheap at retail stores (I recall someone getting a few DH10P for well below retail). It doesn't hurt to check anyway as you could be one of those lucky few! Be sure to post what you find after visiting your Canadian Sony store. Edit: I think most of the best deals (and variety) for MD/Hi-MD are found online at the e-tailers we've suggested as well as eBay. Unless you can get yourself a source in Japan like some members have done.
  15. In my previous post: I wouldn't be too hopeful about Sony Store staff knowing much about minidisc. They're notorious for being unknowledgable with the MD format. At my local SonyStyle, the guy had no idea what the RH910 was and just basically read off of the product card that was on the display in front of the unit. He was more interested in selling me their new DVD player.
  16. Interested in seeing both first-hand, but not enough to buy one. I've got way too many blanks as it is. It's more curiosity than actual interest for me. And, I've never seen the old MD DATA discs either.
  17. This one with the elongated case? If so, these are the older blanks. I don't know of any e-tailer, but I've seen them on eBay. I only have the newer blue ones so lol I'm kind of interested in the oldie 1GBer, too.
  18. I'm usually more partial to the "pretty" discs, but there's something very cool about this one. Nice pics, as usual, Ishiyoshi!
  19. Yep. But someone has to be paying per click, too, eh?
  20. The link I gave you separates the models into player-only and recorder/downloader. Just in case we've confused you even more... player-only unit (the Sharp and Panasonic that you picked out) - no NetMD - no recording function (no mic or line-in) - cannot "make" new discs; can only play discs downloader - NetMD - no recording function (no mic or line-in) - can "make" new discs, but only using your computer (BeatJam or SonicStage) - can play discs recorder (this is what your MT880 was - a NetMD recorder with line-in) - NetMD - has recording function - can "make" new discs using computer, line-in, or a mic (mic and line-in varies between models so you have to check the equipment browser link that I gave to you; some recorders don't have NetMD; some recorders have line-in but no mic-in) - can play discs Like people have already suggested, the least that you would need to replace your old MT880 is a downloader. Getting a recorder would be "extra," since you said "I don't really intend to use the recording function, but I would totally pay extra if it's available." On a side note, some Hi-MD are also NetMD (NH600D, NH3D) and NetMD recorders (NH700, NHF800), so if you find good prices on Hi-MD, you can also go that route. They can use the 74/80 min discs you used with your MT880 so you wouldn't really need to invest in Hi-MD blanks.
  21. Ok, I was just a little confused because it seemed as if you were looking for a NetMD recorder replacement for your MT880, but the ones you were interested in are player-only units (no NetMD, no recording function). I forgot to mention that you can also try etronics.com. They have a Sony NetMD for like US$60 and ship internationally. You can look here for all the different models - player-only vs. recorders and downloaders (NetMD): http://www.minidisc.org/equipment_browser.html. Good luck!
  22. flipstah: I looked again at your initial post and the Sharp and Panasonic (they look awesome, by the way) that you linked are player-only units. Do you have another unit to record discs with (other than your broken MT880) and are now looking for just a player?
  23. richy: Very nice pics. I love the ones taken at night. Used the DH10P for any shots? What audio gear did you bring on your trip? Any problems at the airports? Glad to see you back safe and sound.
  24. Looking at ysist's previous posts gives clues. Tried to hack an N710 and it got messed up. Needs EEPROM values from someone because the unit is now non-functional.
