  1. Steely Dan , in the MZ-R3 , line out to the Powered monitors , at 7 am in the morning , with a good cup O Joe
  2. And your computer in the Background quietly says , without your noticing it " Resistance is Futile ,....... All will be assimilated , we will control "
  3. Blanks will be available for awhile at least here in Japan , and I am setting up Paypal just for that purpose , so I can send stuff to MD'ers but several stores here , all the MD's are stuck with 50% off stickers at the moment , so that will tell you were it is at , there will still be a Supply in Akihabara , for all the Tourists , ( Lot of MD's there , but expensive ) otherwise , the clock is in fact winding down
  4. Hey StUGE klik this http://tangentsoft.net/audio/cmoy-tutorial/ pocket Amp for phones
  5. I will have to do that , do an actual Usage /Time comparison ,....... That might take a while eh !
  6. You know what something just kliked ..... My sony USB power supply is 1 amp @ 5 volts , constant and regulated . and it takes much longer to charge than with the USB supply from my Filco USB out Lithium Battery pack . The Power supply for my Filco is 5 volts , but it is a whopping 2200 ma output ,2.2 amps . I have noticed that the RH1 battery lasts a bit longer when charged on the Filco supply ( quite a bit and HOLds it charge longer) , I dont know why I didnt pay attention to that . The discussion point between you and Avrin sorta slapped me ( The Russian Always notices the odd detail............. Proof again he is a SPY , LOL ) just teasin . The RH1 battery is rated 370 ma 80 % of 370 is 296 , the Sony power supply is 1 amp steady out ( I have measured it ) , and my Filco is 2 amps , then , ..... there must be a USB shunt protection circuit that isnt allowing the full power to come thru unless it senses that more power is there current wise . Reason for thinking this , Most USB ports are between 100 - max 500 ma's , if you drain more than that the USB prot will shut down to protect itself ( I have seen this on several computers, including my Macbook Pro , a warning pops up and tells me it is shutting down that port . ) Then by that measure , as that the RH1 is a Computer interface device , it MUST meet the ratings requirements by law . so it will only draw a certain portion of energy according to what it senses . secondly , USB from computer to RH1 , charging takes much longer , leave it overnight . Sony USB adapter to RH1 , 3 hours to max it , and it just doesnt quite seem to Hold its charge as long as when I use the Filco Filco USB to RH1 .... 2 hours , and I can take it off and leave it in its case all week take it out pop a disc in and I have FULL battery meter , and stays that way for at least an 2 hours playing before it drops one bar. I dont know why I wasnt paying attention to that before
  7. Hey Peaches I answered this in your other thread already , Your Home sys , doesnt PLAY anything other than SP mode discs , when you transfer your MP3 's they arent in the correct format of ATRAC for it to play them ,The 710 will play all the formats , but the Home system that you have is 1997 and before LP mode or Net Md . When you transfer , you have to force Sonic Stage to do so in "SP Mode" then they should play ( Maybe )
  8. I subjugate everything to Specific Folders , instead of one big Database , I have a 300 gb drive that contains about half of the Stage 6 Website before it went down . So Movies by type in one folder , Music vids by type in another , then also subfolders with each , by artist , etc . On mac I have a prog called "Folder Glance " which allows me to open the whole nested series with one klik , it opens to a tree type tier Quik scroll and I am at whatever I want .
  9. That would explain why MDCF was outa wack for a few days too then .
  10. I already started getting the DVD's here , Japan is Region 2 and everything is NTSC , but I have hacked my DVD player and it is ALL region now , I can play whatever . VCD,SACD,SVCD, DVD,MP3 discs,Kodak Picturedisc , DIVX Ultra , and a few others . There is some cool free software for hacking your DVD player , but I cant remember the site right now . Just find it on a List of models , then download the specific Flash for it , put it on a disc as an ISO , then put it in your DVD player and follow the codes on your remote , and it will update your player .
  11. It seems to me that Chris has a bit of unrealistic views of what sound should be , and probable has the secret fantasy (Or maybe even has them ) of 22 inch woofers and a 500 watt amp in the trunk of his car . I worked for HiFiFoFum , installing competition sound systems in custom cars , at one point in my life , there was this one guy , had a baby blue sparkle gloss , Corvette with Custom fiberglass an carbon fibre spoilers and side vents . Sound system consisted of 22 speakers , 5 amps , and EXTRA Alternator , to power just the Amp to the Subs . 2 big ones in a box in the Trunk , 8 small low drivers Spider paired across the back deck of the rear window , 10 inch flats under the front seats , Highs and mids tucked into the Air vents and door Panels so they were invisible and built into the back of the front seats , ( Just in case someone sat in the back ) You could hear this thing a Half a mile away , with the windows CLOSED , and this nut could actually tell when one of the woofers blew ................................ He Cracked the front windshield TWICE with the volume !!!! Chris when you can afford THAT ride , then I will accept whatever you say about BASS Otherwise , I prefer Balance ...............
  12. Ok I looked up the DHC MD373 . it was a pre 1999 unit , (96 -97 I believe) , which means it is Pre Net Md , and Pre LP Mode It is a SP mode only unit , so when you transfer from SS to the 710 you need to make sure it is transfered in SP mode only . Then you should hear it , but the caveat is that it is such an old unit the ATRAC versions are different , I have had issues with new recordings on Older units prior to the MZ-R50 ....... My MZ1 will not play any discs recorded on anything newer than my MZ-R3 , if I record on the R50 it wont play in the MZ1 2000 or so is when LP was introduced across the board in all Sony Md stuff , bookshelf and Portable . Net Md followed 2 years after . I will call this one Operator error , not equipment , just lack of knowledge . Ask of the equipment what it is Capable of , it wont let you down , ask of it what it wont do , then you have problems .
  13. this is supposed to be in the " What have you just Bought " thread , with pics attached ........ I listen to OTTO's as well , the Baroque
  14. What I meant by that was , in the order of the picture , you will see that the RH1 doesnt go diRECT in , I put it in at an angle so the REC control goes almost all the way in , then I squeeze the backside in stretching the the band as it goes it , it takes a few tries to understand , but it should fit snug , you dont want it to be loose . The snugness will dampen vibrations and help stabilize the RH1 , just to recap , It doesnt just SLide in , one corner goes it first as far as it will then the RH1 is Rotated and pushed it at the same time so the REC control gets in first and the Back slides in next .
  15. Hey ,... I LIKE Butter , ..........
  16. I guess that means You aint gonna sell it to me !!! " As soon as I get done with the Olympics , I wont need this " I believe something Like that was said ,........
  17. That is very cool , and as that is just a player , no need for extra holes for connections . A good Brandy Snifter about 1/4 full would look very good sitting next to that one eh !
  18. sound like the Power mangement system is about to go on you , it gets picked up first in anomolies such as this , because it manages power to the WHOLE system including the Mic Preamps and recording control , and the Heads Read/Write , etc all that will start coming thru the Audio as a subtle warning , if your lucky , otherwise it just dies . the AM-F70 is a pretty old machine , and if you have used it a LOT , I think it might be time ......... I have started to notice a LOT of broken F70's in Hardoff ( I live in Japan ) so there is a trend , a certain Life span if you will.
  19. Those are too cool , we need a link for where to get them , or ....... TRADES ??? for Blanks this thread might turn into something yet !
  20. I love the little box , Got a Bigger picture ??
  21. I already have that in mind to make , have the leather , have the tools , just have have NO TIME AARRRRRGGGHHHH
  22. It will be a Tight fit for the first few times , follow the pix for getting it into the Slider , but once it is in , the usefulness will be Immediately apparent !! I love the belt clip on the back to , No need for a real belt , just clip it to your Jeans , under the jacket , slim fit , some Croakies on the glasses , and the cable down the back , good to go ! and nope , didnt use the Vivid setting I dont think , I actually toned it down a bit , The yellow of my blanket was overpowering everything
  23. This is an OLD post , but the Correct wiring would be Pin2 Left channel = Ring Pin2 Right Channel = Tip Pins 1& 3 of each get wired TOGETHER , and go to shield at the Minijack Plug end , that means 1,and 3 are separate from the XLR to the end of the cable , then joined at the Minijack end . Do NOT leave pin 3 Open , If anything ground pin 3 and leave pin 1 open , There is a Series of articles , one is called "Pin 1 Revisited " That speaks in great detail about ground Fault and other issues . Some bad advice was given here in this thread
  24. Static discharge , can reach quite a distance and it sounds like your RH1 got zapped , As a Recording engineer , I say this ...... NEVER , NEVER record storms , while plugged in to the wall , ALWAYS , ALWAYS use Batteries Try this , take a long piece of metal about the diameter of your thumb , and about 2 feet long , push it into the ground outside leaving 6 inches sticking out of the ground , attach a bare wire to that end , then also around your wrist , this makes you an "earth ground " Then with headphones on , test out the RH1 touching buttons , record mode , Play mode , everything , if the noise disappears , then what is wrong is one of the Capacitors that bleed to ground inside the RH1 's Power regulating system is fused together and has become grounded or shorted . Sony will have to fix it because these Capacitors are very very tiny . Sorry to hear this happened , but this is why we are told , to use strong filter traps and power surge protectors on Computer Gear , as well as Audio gear . The price of protection , is ALWAYS less than the price of pain.
