Speaking of Nature , I picked up an Old Solar panel today Unused still with the Box , 1988=89 area Showa Arco Solar , Open circuit voltage ( I measured ) In weak Sun ( partly cloudy here, high thin clouds) OCV = 19.31 volts DC Under load probably 17.5 or so 1.17 Amps , measured at a different time than the picture below , which means Bright Sun probably 1.5 at least Which is VERY close to what it was rated when it was Made . so not bad for sitting in a store for 20 years 10,000 yen ....... for free power for the next 25 years ( Originally about 500 dollars or 54,000 yen at the time.) Panel Size 2.3 feet x 2.5 feet Aluminum framed I was looking for parts to finish a couple projects I have going , Building a Power supply for a Sony ECM MS5M stereo Mic . Ordered the Battery holders today. 2 Nine volts to give 18 volt phantom . I have the Case all built XLR x 2 out , plus a 1/8 " stereo out for MD / Dat , and 5 Pin XLR input for the Mic , switch for Battery/ or Phantom from a Mixing board . It is looking real good , cant wait to get it done , it was a 1500 dollar mic , ......I bought it for 2,000 yen , missing everything . who knows it might not even work , but if not I will have a Very nice Phantom power supply for something else like a stereo pair of AT 3032's It

not to my 1932 " Great Poems of the English Language" Hardbound , tome containing H.D.T , Sir William( Shakespeare of course) , Keats, and innumerable others who have contributed to thought and verse , that gave an Image to thoughts we ourselves could not express , to bring to mind an immitigable moment of contemplation , that might even have the power to change the direction of our lives , reduced , to bits and bytes , and not the weight and heft of aged pages that lend even their weight to that of which was read ............................ thus spoken

When a Battery is Completely discharged , no partially , but reaches a voltage level that the chemicals inside no longer recognize as stable ( There can actually be a small residual voltage measured on a meter) but at that "Dead " point a chemical reaction occur inside the battery at the Cathode end , and it begins to crystalize . At that point the battery is ruined , and needs to be recycled , trying to recharge it can actually be unsafe . in the case of a 1.2 volt NHMD , a residual voltage , of 0.4-.0.3 volts would be unsafe , the chemicals need more than that to keep compound separation . " Quotation from Green Batteries Battery articles " The other common cause of damage to NiCd and NiMH batteries is leaving them in a device like a flashlight left "ON" after the battery has run down. Electronic devices normally switch themselves off once the battery is discharged. But other devices like flashlights, cassette players, and many toys, will continue to put a small load (drain) on a battery even after the battery is run down. Eventually (after a few weeks) this drain on a discharged battery will cause the polarity of the battery to reverse (the plus end actually becomes minus and vice versa). Once this happens the battery will not take a charge again. Battery makers recommend that rechargeable batteries be removed from any devices that will not be used for several weeks or longer. The big difference between voltage depletion, the so called "memory effect" and damage caused by overcharging or improper storage, is that reduced capacity due to overcharging is not reversible.

Is a cheap LIP-4WM battery likely to be genuine

Thank you Avrin . -
It is now 2009 and I have had to take stock of my Health , My time , My responsibilities , and My Family situation . I have to say that while I really enjoy the MDCF , and sharing in it . I just will not have time or the means , to salvage MD's anymore . So thanks to those who bought from me , stay in touch . " The scene of this world is changing " and so must I ........ In fact this is also goodbye to the forums .

Well the thing is the Sony is liable to be the Fake , that is what China is doing ( you would have to visit here for me to show you ) in Akiba you can find them all over the place , Fake iPod nanos for 4,900 yen , Fake Sony batteries complete Label copy's , fake whatever you want . Fake girls for that matter ( just think Aerosmith here dude) It is really bad , The bootlegging of DVD's CD's , anything and everything , is Voracious here and done in the open with no shame . If you lived here , and watched the news you would understand , .......... but I wont even try to convince someone who is convinced that they already know . I have seen with my OWN eyes , and I know . -
Building a Collection huh Steve?

Praciticality of using microtrack recorder to capture soundboard feed
Strungup replied to 6079's topic in Live Recording
depneds on his board , in my experience , it wont happen , I am also a sound engineer and do live sound , once in a while I will let the Tape outs , or Control room outs be used , but my Busses , I set up for effect processing for each channel . Also there is a Big difference between Pro live sound , and Basic Bar room, Small venue sound ........ I doubt that your going to have much success getting the sound guy to let you futz with his gear . I based my earlier statements on the Idea that you were doing this For your own band or band you knew . -
Chris ,It really depends on the relationship you build with someone , and who it is your dealing with in the first place . Your generalization statements of Paranoia here of late , are a bit disconcerting , for the past 3 months most of your comments have been quite eh hemm....... Directly opposed to forming a good working agreement with anyone . Yes there are scammers , but you tend to throw EVERYONE in the same pot . to qoute a question from the "Floyd " " Are you feeling ok ? "

Strungup replied to 6079's topic in Live Recording
Depends on the Band being recorded ,If you are "With the Band" meaning freinds of , or assigned to record them etc If your not ,.... " In The Know " then the sound engineer wont let you get near his gear -
so springtime , I will have to plan on getting to Shikoku ,.........maybe

well , The drums will take several channels by themselves , so bring the drums out of a sub mix to a stereo image saves inputs on the recorder . EX, drums have 8 channels , assign those channels to a sub mix down to two , after the fader/pan stage of the mixer , they will sound ok , but not great , then you will have more channels for the other instruments A multitrack recorder , will need the ability to record multiple channels simultaneously , not Multiple inputs down to a TWO track input .Make sure of that . a LARGE FAST HDD in it will be of great benefit , reducing dropouts , or other oddities . you will if you do it that way , still have the ability Afterwards , to do some Mixing and adjustment of the recorded sound , as that each instrument will have it's own track . The other way , is the Firewire /Multi input interface , and a pretty powerful computer , and good software , that does the same thing . I like this one ...... 24 tracks , 36 inputs , flexible signal routing not bad for the price All of these can be found here http://www.fullcompass.com/category/Record...mbinations.html -
