Davew
aoix that sounds bad but this might just work: you have written down all of your values from MANUAL and NV in your text file. SHORT
don't press pause when your read "NV 921 PatVer" because it's killer for your unit my unit is dead... I press pause and if you re-read this value, your see "noPach".and when I put an MD in my unit I see "ERROR EE" ... that's end! ←Bad news is:I accendently erase the patch and my MZ-NHF800 was dead as a rock too. I try a lot of adjusting... after hours of playing with those small buttons and the big dial (compare to my mz-r900 it's really big), it still show me noPach. Just before I want to give up, or when I decided to give up. I am at the deadly "NV 921 PatVer" menu. I press the pause key again and thinking whether I should use fedex or UPS to send it back.....While the small disk is running on the little screen, I think what the hack, then I just pull out the USB line.....At that moment, there is neither bettery nor AC. So, essentially, I remove all the power while the unit is trying to write something into somethere....The good news isMy MD MYSTERIOUSLY REVIVED!!! Immediately after that!! I am able to play, My computer can see this little "Removable Disk" drive and read/write files on a 80min MD disk in hi-md mode... Currently my one and the only 1GB disk is not around me, so I can not test it. I do go back and check again, the "NV 921 PatVer" it stil showing me noPach.. Why don't you give it a try. and see if this work for you. BTW, the major change I have down while playing with the service mode includes NV 112, NV 113, NV924, and of cause NV921.Good luck! and wish AOIX can give some good news back
vwa
Having read about 2nd gen HiMD-recorders being in the pipeline, I thought it would be time to try out some Service Mode tricks. If my MZ-NH600 (european model with line-in) became dead, I'd have a good reason for investing into the coming versions.I clicked the magical key sequence with Hold ON while doing a live recording via line-in, and the result was a total surprise: I got new info on the top left corner of the display (no flashing service mode display), saying:R00 01And the recording mode was switched into PCM instead of the original Hi-SP.I slided the Hold OFF, and after some recording in this mode pushed the STOP key.The info in the upper left corner changed into: P01 00File Writing, and the disc symbol was lit. After some writing the NH600 went automatically into a Repeat mode, and started playing the recording continuously, and showed following info at the top left corner of the display:S00 FF ( The FF part was counting down like played frames or something)I observed this quite a while, and pushed STOP several times. The unit shut off itself normally. When pushing "PLAY" the recordings done prior entering the service mode were OK, but there was no trace of the recording done during the test. Otherwise the unit seems to work as before: it records and plays, and works with PC as before.Anybody else tested this one?vwa
SlowMo
Nice ! -very interesting, i tried around a bit as well..i´ve got a 900 by the way003Ver. 1.100euro "uncapped"ss ver. 2.1with fairly different results, thoughused optical in at my md, optical out of my soundcard, playback of an original cd via winamprec mode: pcmformatted hi md diskprocedure works, once i got there, i decided to stay for a while, and play around-he didn´t change the play mode when enteringso first i stopped the recording. immediately started looping just like vwa´s unit. counting down hex values. but i can press pause, stopping both the hex values and the playback, play again starts both, but pressing "next" will start the track again,(if it´s the only one, if there´s more, next track), the hex values showing "00" constanlyand i can continue recording.i found out that i can do almost everything i can without being in "diagnose mode " only moving in groups is hampered somehow, you can access groups, but not single tracks. when playing back that group, however, by pressing next, you can play the next trackafter a bit of messing around , i found out, that after recording, he automatically switches to Hi-Lp and will from that on record in that mode, unless i change it.so i´d format the disk, changed to pcm again, recorded about 10 secs, stopped turned it off, and found out, that the unit didnt turn off completely, it still diplayed that diagnose line, saying "p00 ff" or "p00 00" (randomly or i don´t know how to reproduce it.. if i let it rest like that, it will slowly count up from "p00 xx" to "po5 xx" (i haven´t seen the 5 yet) and then will finally turn off. (normal off)i can change disks while in "diagnose suspend" but haven´t found out anything interesting with that yet.hitting the "magic code" again, while in "diagnose mode" (unit on, doing nothing, hold on) will enter service mode. i once landed in "key testing mode" with LOUD constant beep, but probably by accidentally pressing any buttons i didn´t want to, i couldn´t reproduce it.so i returned to normal mode and successfully played the recorded files.plugged in usb, opened SS, tracks showed up, were playable, and transferrable. once. i also tried using ss while in diagnose mode, it worked, but didn´t turn out any news.sorry for being so messy, i´m tired, and haven´t had the patience yet, to write up detailed values, perhaps i´ll do so tomorrow. sorry but thats too much for me, i have to make up a plan what to do, write it up and then process it, writing down the results immediately as they turn out. because right now i´m too excited about trying and finding things out, i can´t stand still..Damn this is fun, but im not shure if there´s any point in doing this...
