bobt
Has anyone else had as much fun as I have with the GoogleEarth program? You can zoom in virtually anywhere, zoomed in on my parents house in Edmonton Alberta, went to some of my favorite places in Havanna, and zoomed fairly close to my house in Little Cyman.I'm at: 19'40"30.88 N, 80'03"40.46W, where are you?Have fun,Bob

bobt
If you go slightly southwest of The Bight you will see a small cyl de sac with2 big lots and one long thin lot, that is mine, it is a very small island with low satellite priority, so you can't get very close (1 mile by 10 miles) and about 130 people, just went to your house, will have to ask my wife if she knows you or your family, she lived in Sydney in the 70's.Take care my friend

Christopher
I'm at work, so I can't check it out but I will when I get home. Those Africa images you spoke of NH1, are they the ones that basically let you see about 100ish feet above the people and mud houses? It really is an view for sure. I love using Google Earth in DirectX mode with Anisotropic Filtering all the way up -- the textures are super crisp and it looks very nice. tartan
33,44'15.54 s 151,14'10.56 ethat's the exact spot the dinosaur smashing happened (filmed on july 12 2003)and today's home is a few houses up the street on the east side with the backyard treehouses and other fun stuff hidden among the trees right behind the housethe old house (lived there until 1999) is exactly at 33,44,29.71 s 151,11'30.44 e, it's a 3 story 1970's mission brown brick and pebblecrete monstrosity at the end of a long and steep drivewayis there also a way to enter the position and google earth will go there by itself ??????????? always find it time consuming trying to find and label the exact positions mentioned previously Edited October 27, 2005 by tartan
MZ-NH1
Didn't know you lived in Sydney tartan! The way to PROPERLY find out you EXACT location, is to put in a "PlaceMark"To do this, click on ADD - Placemark. A little pin will come up on the screen, and you can move this where ever you like... (it is like a bookmark, which is saved on GE, and when you come back, just click on the LHS and you locations will come up)When you click the Placemark, a window will pop up, where you can enter the name for the Placemark, but if you click the ADVANCED box at the bottom of the window, and then click the LOCATION tab, it will come up with the exact co-ordinates for that Placemarker, and they are written correctally. Tiesto I think you gotta re-write your co-ordinates... couldn't make any sense outta them Oh and to search with co-ordinates, at the top on the LHS of GE there is "Fly To" "Local Search" and "Directions".Click on Fly To, and then just copy the co-ordinates we post in here, into there. Only problem is it has to be written correctally. It can either look like this - 33 44'29.71"S 151 11'30.44"E, or 33°46'24.40"S 151° 9'31.58"EGood luck Google Earthing! The Low Volta
just a couple of picks from my life... I'll try to type 'em GE-friendly so you just have to copy paste them into the "fly to"-box- my current home: 50°47'48.28"N, 4°24'41.73"E (second house from the corner)- my work: 50°49'17.68"N, 4°23'35.57"E (building C at the VUB/free university of Brussels)- my favorite concert hall: 50°50'49.95"N, 4°20'55.19"E (the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels)- my sister/brother-in-law and godson's place: 50°50'19.90"N, 4°20'50.67"E (in a great neighbourhood, "de Marollen")- my parent's place: 50°55'45.77"N, 5°20'45.46"E (in Hasselt, a smaller town and therefore, pretty vague on GE )- the hotel from my most recent holiday: 43°42'08.87"N, 7°19'28.11"E (well, it's the hotel's pool in which I spent a lot of time, the hotel is the pinkish building to the NW, attached to the pool... this is also where this pic was taken)hope you enjoyed viewing my life from above

tartan
recently coverage of some areas was updated, and now the thumbtacks are not in the exact spot as it was before, there must be some great inaccuracies in the picture satellite gps positioningthe worst area is around home where everything moved by 15 or so feet and now all the thumbtacks must be moved one by one to make up for thatalso the latest footage is nowhere near as good or detailed as the previous take was Edited December 14, 2005 by tartan
akijikan
The images for my area are low res I remember there was a MSN site that let you search by address and show you nice images. bobt
say Bobt... is the coffee shop at the same location as the house? The coffee shop is about two miles west, there is a bid pond (You'll love the namw "The Booby Pond" for the Red Footed Booby, an endangered bird that roosts there), so if you make it west and south about two miles you'll see the coffee shop. Thanks for asking.Bob

maussdahauss
Hah, I JUST DLed this last night...raelly nice software. I only got the free 7 day trial, and was wondering if the free trial was much worse? Also, if not, is there a way to make the globe up to date rather than a few years ago? I wanted to see Reliant Stadium in Houston, that is where I live, and realized that it was still under construction, and the Astrodome was STILL standing up right next to it with a loaded parking lot. I'd give the coordinates to my place, but the problem is that my house is JUST less than a mile from Houston city limits, and is too blurred....----Thanks Edited January 7, 2006 by maussdahauss
MZ-NH1
You cannot get a 'live' update in Google Earth, because for that to happen, a satellite would most prob have to be hovering right above you place to get the pics, and just imagine how many other people would be wanting to get a picture of their place in a different location! The images were taken I think 2-3 years ago, but the latest download, which I think come out pretty recently, has updated pictures, and higher resolution pics for certain areas.Hope that helps mate.
