greenmachine
How do you use your (Hi)MD unit(s)?
MZ-NH1
Live Recording = 1/2Playback/Listening to music 1/2....All depends on what is happening... I might have to do lots of recording for school, or I might be studying, so listen to lots of music.
zxon
I use my MD unit for all the above. I listen to music transferred directly from my own music collection on my PC as MP3s. I also record lectures at Uni, and also at Uni I use my MD player as my portable data storage device too. All the students keep whaltzing around with USB memory sticks that're 64/128/256/512/1024Mb in size and cost a fair whack each, and then there's me with my MD player and 1Gb disks at a fiver apiece. Granted the MD unit itself cost a fair bit but I know I'm still better off
Syrius
I chose "other" which is to make my own compilations of music I already own or from games I play.
The Low Volta
I chose playback/listening mostly...but I wished I could honestly have selected recording, as that really is my most loved application of HiMD!I just don't get the chance often enough (either I'm too busy or there's not really anything I'd like to record... or even worse, there is and I have got the time, but for once I didn't bring my entire setup, so I'm stuck staring at a brilliant spontaneous performance without any mics on me ) Edited October 27, 2005 by The Low Volta
veezhun
mainly live recording ever since i got the iaudio x5l..l
KJ_Palmer
Playback, mostly of my old legacy MD collection. Some recording, mostly of my own music practice, and quite a bit of PC data transfer/storage between home and work.
Sunny
Like MZ-NH1 - half recording, half playback.

ynos
Live recording (line-in) - 0.5/7Listening - 6.5/7You probably wonder what are those numbers well I use my MD for live recording half day every week and the rest of the week is listening
greenmachine
Seems like we would have more recordists here than i would have expected. Thanks for the answers so far.
bland10000
Mainly listening but what I am listening to has been recorded via line-in. I've tried the data storage but it seems redundant as I have a couple of usb-key fobs and an external hd.
willtonMD
my mz-rh10 does alot of recording and also is used for playback at the gym or around town and at work.ive always used them for recording but not live recording. mostly cd's for portability or from radio broadcasts
jonny mac
Bear in mind that part of the beauty of HiMD is it's wide range of uses. Mostly I use it just for listening but I also use the data storage both for moving files and for backing-up data. I also record from DVDs, copy-controlled CDs or other things. Nothing else can do this to the quality I get from MD.
