Old skool D
Today I purchased a leather carrying case from The Sony Center in Tottenham Court Road London, for 20 GBP. They told me that they will be getting a delievery tomorrow so if you don't like this, there will be other types availble. The silver ring is like key ring that buckles to your trouser loop. Please excuse the picture quality, as they were taken with my V3 Motorrola mobile phone. Edited May 8, 2007 by GQ Smooth

Old skool D
Hi GQ SmoothCan you fully operate the player with the case on, and can you post a close up pic of the unit in the case.Hey Angrybadger Will do, plus I'll try & post some close ups of the unit itself. Also, to answer your question, you can operate the unit with the case on. Only problem I have is turning the hold button( which is on the back of the unit) on/off. Shinji Ikeda
The pictures are excellent quality. You can see the engraves for the 5-way, option, and back buttons. We would like to see the right side.Nice case. It is very stylish. What I have noticed is the flap acts like the hold button when closed. The flap secured by a magnet built into the case. This is the case that I purchased with my violet NW-800, however mine is black. When the unit is in the case you can only see the screen.GQ Smooth, I would like to hear more of your opinion. Quality, etc...

Quality, etc...Thanks for the Compliment. I've taken a few more photos( still don't think their the best quality) to showcase the unit, and the case. The case is excellent, and as you mentioned the lid has a magnet attached that keeps the lid in place. You can acess the buttons via the case, except for the hold button( which is the black button on the back of the unit, right side). To access this, you have to slide the unit out of the case. The belt buckle attches, but I'd be wary of usuing this all the time in the rush hour in London. The unit itself is excellent. GREAT sound quality, smart graphic, well made. My only gripe is that I wish( like an ipod) that it would automatically syns with SS, and update tracks that you added to SS, without creating duplicates( maybe I'm doing something wrong, if so I'd welcome some advice) All in all a great purchase. I'm starting to love it more and more. I even use the supplied headphones often, even though I own Shure E4s.SS doesn't create duplicates in my case, and does tick the boxes for new CDs if I choose "automatic update".However, delete a track from the DAP, and SS seens to offer to re-sync the whole album. In practice however, it will only re-sync the deleted track. Untich the box and SS will remember nect time not to sync the album again. From what I can make out once the case is closed it also covers and protects the screen. Edited May 9, 2007 by ANGRYBADGER

Shinji Ikeda
doclloyd,As what AntiPod has said, Sony has not released an arm band for the NW-A800. I do not believe that they will. However, it may be possible to use an armband designed for another player. The controls for the NW-A800 are quite integrated which will require the occasionally removal it from the arm band. Being able to create playlists on the NW-A800 resolves this quite nice.STAN☆STAN,I would have to agree with you on the sound quality of the NW-A800. However, have a built in noise cancellation has a significant advantage for those commutes.

riceb0i87
Many thanks for posting your pictures. How do you find your player, and how often do you clean the case & how do you do it?To be honest, I just use a cloth, nothing too special . Just open the case, take the player out, and clean away. I didn't plan on getting a case at first, but then I was afraid of dropping it and cracking the screen. I guess I'll open and clean the case every week or two? I dunno.About the player itself... AWESOME! After using an NW-E405 for a year or so, I needed to upgrade... badly. I'm no audiophile, but the player itself gives you so much customization, especially the equalizer settings. I've tried my sister's Nano, and the equalizer presets there don't seem to make any difference, whereas with the 800 series, the changes are very obvious. The hiss on the 800 series is very faint, compared to my E405. Colour is amazing, video playback is great, navigation is quick and easy, BATTERY LIFE! and the supplied headphones are perfect. I only have a few issues with it though, most of which are software issues:(1) What is this Favourite 100 thing? I don't think it is supported by SonicStage yet.(2) I wish SonicStage had some type of 'Smart Playlist' thing that itunes has. We should be able to see stuff like number of times played, and customize how the playlist is sorted in the playlist.Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. Sure, the iPod nano isn't horrible, but there's better alternatives out there. This is one of them. (as long as SonicStage works for you) It's a shame that people judge the quality of these players based on past experiences with sonicstage. They're missing out

They're missing out I have noticed that with the leather case that you have to clean the screen on the NW-A800 series more often. More for the removal of dust.(1) SonicStage CP 4.3 allow you to have advance mode and simple mode. The player has to be in advance mode to allow SonicStage to take advantage of some of the advance features such as Favourite 100 (please see number 2).(2) I am unaware what feature iTunes has or does not have. I removed it from my computer after I realized it go installed with QuickTime. Here are the candies that you get with SonicStage and NW-A800 in advanced mode.- Favourite 100. This is your favourite 100 Songs. This is a ranking in descending order of the top 100 songs played in descending order.- NW-A800 has 5 customizable playlists called bookmarks. You can change the order of the items in a bookmark. It is also possible to import bookmarks into SonicStage (which is given a time stamp when imported Bookmark 1 2007/05/13 08:53:56). Playlist transferred from SonicStage order can not be changed, however.- Playback history that gets updated everytime the NW-A800 is connected to your computer while SonicStage is running. This is only updated when you sellect transfer to ATRAC Audio Device in SonicStage. There is one playback history for each day, with the songs in the exact order that they were played. If a song is played multiple times in a row, it will appear only once.- SonicStage supports dynamic playlist. I do not know if this is transferable to the NW-A800.- The NW-A800 supports payback of a specific range based on-- Album, Artist, Genre, Release Year, Rating-- Recent Transfer (3 most, 2 most, most)-- Playlist (bookmarks 1-5, SonicStage created playlist, Favourite 100, Play history)- Playback can be sorted by any of the above when playback range is changed to All Range from Selected Range.Hey I am happy if they are missing out . When consumers realize that there are good alternative, then they will make their next purchase based on being a informative consumer. No one said the iPod was horrible, did they . IPod just dominate everything I am glad to hear that you were able to find your case. The NW-A800 has been out for a short time, and has not gotten traction yet. Thus, accessories are limited (outside of Sony's home market). It seems that it will be a successful product, but I suspect that it will not be number one.Sony is very capable of making after market products for their media players, and does not need to change manufacturers a 10% premium just to make their products work with Walkmans. It will take time for aftermarket accessories to be available for the NW-A800 series.

For any of you not familiar with London, Tottenham Court Road in the West End of London is where all the electronics and audio visual stores are located. For a good section of the road it's door to door electronics. It's a geeks paradise . Was in there on Thursday and all they had were the spiderman skins. The sales assistant told me that once the cases are delivered in the morning they are sold out by lunch time the same day. Some times it's best to stay local than to travel in to town.
