Christopher
Time to time I look over the memberlist just to see how many people on average register with the forums. By doing so [combined with your posts], I learn a little bit about each and every one of you. A perfect example is a website that you've made revolving around whatever you do. Obviously, alot of this is music, spoken word, and recording entusiast related which sparks my interest - What do you do?
aeriyn
Besides helping you keep this forum from devouring your soul? Hmm. Might have to think about that. Oh. I love music. Love it to death. I don't even own a TV. I never watch TV. I'm always constantly listening to music. I'm into the listening thing, which is why Skyther endlessly pesters me to get an iPod. However I've given in to temptation and well, a pink iPod Mini shall be mine... one day. Always been into MiniDisc from the first time I heard about it, I thought it was shweet. These were the days before MP3 players, too. And honestly, I get a lot more attention over my DS8 than any of my friends do over their iPods. iPods are like Camaros... everyone's got one! But when I whip that DS8 out... man it's fun to show off. I even get a lot of people who say it sounds better than their iPod. Could be that they're using the stock buds... I did do a bit of live recording in the past, nothing major, just making rush-job demo CDs for some local bands in good ol' B'ham. Fun stuff, and I got paid pretty decently. That's about all I do with MD. Otherwise, I write. Write, write, write. And play Final Fantasy XI. I do a lot of that. Probably too much.

dex Otaku
What do you do? :happy:Hmm. What -do- I do? Let's see. I'm a writer of sorts. Bad poetry is pretty much all I show to the general public. I'm a still photographer who still prefers film. My favourite subject is night photography, though I have done a lot of spontaneous portraiture over the years, as well as landscape photography. I shot a wedding for friends once, and plan never to do that again. I'm a sound engineer. While I openly admit that I've never done this professionally, I have run the PA for enough small shows over the past 12 years to have a good handle on what I'm doing, be well-respected for it, and be able to run a small show all by myself without any difficulty. I've been complemented on my ability to run a front of house board with the mains sitting at -10dBVU with the sound clear and more than loud enough to please the crowd. I'm also a recording engineer. I have recorded and mastered a small number of demo albums for local groups since 1996. Most recently I was engineer for an art gallery installation that featured a 5.1-surround "radio drama" which I engineered, mastered, and burned to DVD as AC3 right here in my living room. I'm a sound recordist. I have done numerous small jobs that could be considered foley, field recording, location recording, or whatever you want to call it. I'm a videographer. This is definitely in an amateur capacity, though I am fairly well-versed in the workings of professional equipment. For the most part I shoot shorts of family and community events, bring it home, edit it, and burn it to SVCD or DVD for friends and family members. I'm a divorced father of one son. I'm a computer [PC] technician with 13 years experience which followed several years of programming that started when I was about 11. I'm a relative internet-fogey, having been on the net in one capacity or another since 1987 or 88. I do desktop publishing/layout, though I do not consider myself a layout artist. ..And I am a cunning linguist. I know I missed a bunch of things I do, but hey, that's enough for now.

doclloyd
- IT manager for a marketing/ad agency... was formerly a programmer (PHP, Perl, MySQL, Linux stuff...). I still dabble when need arises. - Not a doctor of anything, though I've seriously considered becoming a counselor. - Occasional reader of books, though I wish I read more often. - (former) writer of poetry, though those days are farther and fewer between. - Frequent reader of tech/geeky info site (slashdot, howardforums, this forum) - listener of mainly electronica/club/dance music, but have been known to own the random cranberries or dido album :rasp: - Only person I know (other than my bro) who's 1/2 Chinese and 1/2 Czech - MD user since 2001 (started with the R700) - I actually frequent a gym usually twice a week, but get the random 3rd visit if I'm really motivated. So, there you have it.

BJ
Neat topic! - My life changed in 1984 when I realized I could purchase the music I wanted instead of waiting for the radio to play it. Unfortunately, I was 11, with no steady source of income. - I listen to everything except country and rap - I'm a sucker for a really cool gadget (my Clie NR70 may be obsolete, but it's so COOL) - currently live in the middle of nowhere with my girlfriend, cat, frog, python and no hot water - draw sometimes - write sometimes - I'm one of the 27 people worldwide who actually enjoyed Titan A.E. - favorite movie is "The Frighteners" director's cut - I hate driving, unless I'm on my motorcycle. - the sewing machine in the house actually belongs to me--and I use it, too - MD is still my ideal method for recording/storing/playing music. poke40g
Who am I ? I've been looking for an answer to that question for 42 years, haven't found it yet.I can tell you what I've been and what I do now, but not who I am.I was a student, dishwasher, janitor, drywaller, treeman( the longest ) now due to lifes little gotchas, I'm a helpdesk tech for a cable ISPI love to drink a few beers now and then, with a shot of Jack Black and drive around listening to my music, not in my car. I know enough now days not to drink and drive in my car.I've met some good people the past couple of years and if they're any indication, I guess they make me a good person too.
