Bummer on the first-no ship to America!

You would just search out the file locations of the actual music and import into itunes.

Can minidisc (ATRAC SP) capture the essence of vinyl?
darrencouch replied to netmduser's topic in The Loft
Bummer about the one I posted-was hoping it was worth the (small) amount of money they were asking for it. Sigh. I think I'll just save the scratch to make myself a nice tube amp. -

Is this the one you bought? http://bit.ly/42HMfr If not, it might be worth a shot. I was planning on getting it myself. -
I have an N510 and a DN430. Both sound really good. I also have some S1's which, I know, are type R. They both sound excellent to me. I figured I'd take the (possible) slight noise quality hit and lack of remote for bombproof (especially in Orygun) performance of the S1. I can say those DN430's sound just fine. I think you can find that model with a radio too

I love that link! No-I was referring to the bill Andrew Jackson is on, a 20. But the way our currency is going it might be 5 quid here very soon this has got to be my favorite: Poorly Fish Six quid (sick squid) [Thanks to Kevin Lowther - sounds like more of a bad pun than slang but ... Tom reports that the reference he knows is "dead octopus" as in "I've only been here 5 minutes and I've done a dead octopus". And Darryl Clark reports the expression "dodgy octopus" is also used.]

Picked these three MZ-S1's up plus about 20 minidiscs for one Jackson

Hey-dunno if this is still there or not, but anyone looking for a good deck type R and in the Seattle area: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ele/1439055624.html JA20-ES. No affiliation to seller.

Honestly- I bought a pair of Philips headphones for ten bucks at Rite-Aid that were behind the head "sports" models. The cord is encased in nylon mesh which makes it tangle resistant. They sound superb-much better than my older son's 60 dollar "skullcandy" ones.

Can minidisc (ATRAC SP) capture the essence of vinyl?

Wow-that soared over my head! So, how does one find out which labels put out decently sounding cd's? This makes the hunt for quality music that much harder. And now, in the downloaded content era, how does one guarantee that the company you're d/l your tracks from aren't simply applying the same limitations and bad mastering the previous media distributors did? I think I need a beer now. Actually, there are a lot of albums coming out these days. Many on 180gram vinyl, 45rpm issues, Non LP style (wider grooves, etc). I pick most of my Gogol Bordello on vinyl. http://store.acousticsounds.com/ -
At first I thought it was a joke product-but it's on the level. I got a good chuckle out of the comments, though

I've done plenty of copying vinyl to SP and LP2 with my JE-780 deck. I have an older decent Kenwood direct drive TT and a mid-70's panasonic/technics receiver with phono amp. Needle is a Shure M97xe. I have heard of all the "lossy" this and "lossy" that, but the results are great. I like the pops and hiss-on a good piece of vinyl I can set the mark trip at -34db or quieter and get accurate track separation. Of course, it takes a LOT of fiddling (which i happen to like). The turntable needs to be set up just right, cartridge alignment spot on, counterbalance set, etc. Then finding the loudest passage on the record to set recording volume without clipping. Record should be clean as possible. I plan on eventually getting a good record cleaner. Like anything, the results are heavily dependent on the quality of the source. -
Zombieland. It was excellent. that is all.

Getting a Yahoo Auctions ID now that Yahoo auctions INTL is gone
darrencouch replied to darrencouch's topic in Minidisc
for rental? For like weddings, bar mitzvahs, etc? That could have explained the 65 dollar price range -
So, after reading some suggestions that the best way to find decently priced Hi-MD players (especially NH1's) is the japanese auction sites, I surfed over there, only to be confronted with tons of kanji. The google translate won't translate getting a yahoo japan ID. Anyone know of a way to get set up that is less JP intense? There are some great units on there that translated well. I especially like the prices on RH1's.

I have a JE-780, which is basically the 480 with optical out. It's a great sounding unit-ugly "pink-gold" coloring notwithstanding

First jaunt back into the forums since the move to Insider--howdy! I remember there being a great thread of individuals minidisc art-labels, boxes, etc. I am having the darndest time locating that. It could also be that I am not remembering it correctly and that it was on another site. I did try the search button, for "art", "label art", "stickers", "etc". Anyone know what I'm on about? thanks!

That was a good article!

So, I've read that ATRAC has been abandoned, no more new models, etc etc. So what does it all mean for us and our Minidiscs? Are they still making blanks, MD and HiMD? Any hardware planned to be released ever again, either consumer or pro? I was hoping anyone in the "know" could post up the latest dirt fit to dish about MD and the end of 2008.

MZ-r90 of the 'Bay as well as a MZ-DN430 NIB. The DN-430 is an interesting little player, nt very feature-packed, but has the bonus of being new and unmolested. Lovin' that R90, tho!

If its still around on Wednesday I'll be all aboot it!

Stargate Atlantis --anyone. New Stargate Universe !
darrencouch replied to 1kyle's topic in The Loft
JaFar Kree! I like some Stargate Atlantis, even with being a big Teal'c fan. -
perhaps the nefarious could get involved in "slotmusic" by impregnating the back of the card with LSD, for instant lick and stick fun! Ah well, when you're buying a paramore album, doesnt really matter what "codec" or "lossy/lossless" format its in, it still sucks. As does most sound engineering these days. But I digress. Those things are awfully tiny, and Im curious at what price point they plan on selling them at...

I like Archival recordings on Vinyl Myself

that's excellent! Now I don't need to go off looking for an optical-friendly cd player.
