  1. Well, it looks like all MZ-RH10 models were pulled from all Sony Style stores. I visited the store yesterday in a local mall here in Southern California and there was no MZ-RH10. They did have the MZ-RH910 for $200 and the Hi-MD/Camera unit which was on sale for $400. But there was no word yet on the MZ-RH1 making it's American debut, which is probably what most of us are interested in.
  2. Well, then it's obvious that WMP and SS are using different MP3 encoders. But my question now is, which one is better. Does it really matter if I'm encoding at 320kbps?
  3. I agree. But if the encoder files are placed in "shared" folder, it's possible that other applications may use them.
  4. Actually, WMP didn't have an MP3 encoder so I had to install a codec seperately (it was a free version I got from LimeWire). If the MP3 encoder in SS 3.4 is as good as anything else, then I would like to use that one because the CDDB in SS seems to find titles for some of my rare CDs that I own.
  5. Well, the MP3 encoder in Windows Media Player is called InterVideo MP3. I don't know what the SS 3.4 encoder is called. I conducted a tiny experiment where I encoded a song @ 320kbps with the MP3 encoder in SS 3.4 and InterVideo MP3. After analysing them with MP3Gain, the Intervideo encoded track was .1 decibels louder. Does that mean anything? I don't know. But I'm assuming that at high bit-rates their really should be no difference in sound quality between encoders. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. Will SS 4.0 be release on the 25th for the U.S? That's the important thing.
  7. Sorry, but until there is an official release of SS 4.0 in the U.S., I'm not interested. Until there is a release of the RH1 in the U.S., I'm not interested either.
  8. ARe you saying that the MP3 encoder is the best there is? I only have 2 MP3 encoders, the one with Windows media player and the SS 3.4. Which one should I use for high-bit rates (256, 320)
  9. Hi-MD was not mentioned in the article. Unless you can store music on a PS3 in ATRAC format. Hi-MD USB connection to the PS3 is still possible. I can stream music from my RH10 to my XBox 360 (MP3, WMA only).
  10. Which ones do you recommend? If you have links to downloads that would be great.
  11. I've got the same issue with SS 3.4, it just stalls during CD burning. Luckily, I have other CD burning software that works just fine. I hope they come out with a patch for SS 3.4. Not to mention, a new version of Simple Burner.
  12. Obviously with SS 3.4, you can rip music in MP3 format, but I was wondering whether or not this encoder is the same as other MP3 encoders in terms of sound quality. I guess my concern is that Sony may fiddle with the MP3 encoder to make ATRAC sound superior.
  13. I have the MP3Gain software but i was wondering if there is any ATRAC gain software that can be used with Hi-MD bitrates. I have music in ATRAC3plus format but not all the songs are the same volume. Unfortunately, SonicStage doesn't normalize tracks when transferring to Hi-MD. Any ideas.
  14. That thread was just for fun and sorry if any of you founded offensive. But I never joke around about illegal immigration. I live in Los Angeles, which is becoming like Mexico City more and more each day. I'm speaking from experience.
  15. Well, I'm starting to think that ATRAC3plus lowers the bass when it compresses music. I ripped a song in MP3 format, then coverted to ATRAC3plus Hi-SP and the bass was a little stronger. I know I'm going to get flamed for converting formats which can cause lower sound quality, but it's not very noticeable. I'll take a little bit more bass for minor loss in sound quality. Yeah I know, I'm wierd, but it makes my ears happy. Ultimately that's what matters. So I'll keep my RH10, for now.
  16. Sorry buddy. That's nothing compared to what's going on in America. We have 12 million illegals living here, and I'm convinced that number is low. It's probaby closer to 20 million. It's a drain on government services and costs us tax payers billions and billions of $$$ a year. If Europe had to spend the same amount of money on illegals, they would be broke.
  17. The only country that has a problem with illegal immigration, the U.S.
  18. Have you used illegal aliens for any of the following: - yard work and maintenance - wash your car - nanny/babysitter - house work/construction - fast food restaurants - fruit/flowers from street corners. If you have, you may be addicted to illegal immigration. I want to know what kinds of jobs/services you've used illegal aliens for. Also, please vote in the poll. Thanks.
  19. No, if i want poor sound quality, I'll record my music in Hi-LP. Sorry, no EQ settings will give more deep bass. Period!
  20. Sorry, but those settings don't work at all. I might as well listen to music on AM radio if I'm going to use those settings. What the unit needs is 6-band EQ and a "Mega Bass" button. There was absolutely no excuse to not include one.
  21. Well, i wouldn't sell it unless I know what I will get to replace it. And I'm only thinking about it, so it's not for sure yet. I would sell it on ebay though, just to make sure I get paid for it.
  22. Unfortunately, the Sharp unit only records in SP and in real time. It's also twice as thick and heavy as the RH10. The problem with the bass frequency in the RH10, is that it's only 100hz. It should be no more than 80hz. A combination of 100hz and some "bass boost" function would have been much better.
  23. I recently listened to some legacy discs on my Sharp Minidisc player. After listening to the Digital X-Bass of the unit, it made me realize how weak the RH10 is in terms of bass response and have been reluctant to listen to discs on my RH10. Unfortunately, this lead me to the conclusion that my unit was designed for recording music, and not for playback which was my initial purpose. I really wish the RH10 had a "super bass" function and no EQ settings could compare with Digital X-Bass from the Sharp unit. Even with the cheap factory earphones that came with the RH10, the Sharp unit sounded stronger. So, i could either invest in some high quality earphones or I could sell my RH10 and buy an MP3 player with the bass features I so desire. What do you think guys? P.S. I found these earphones at the Sony Style website. Look at the features and tell me if you think they're worth getting. It has a bass booster design. http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP...._FontopiaEarbud
  24. I found this article, and no it's not hoax or April fool's joke. http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/337/C7069/
