Japanese stores could help you to find wooden and plastic boxes fitted for MD +/- case. Just search on the website, on old topics : sadly pictures disappeared for a lot of them... old times : in Viêt-Nam (20 of them, this one and similars) in France (all MDs) & in Viêt-Nam (5 of the MD shelves whic are at the bottom) in France (everything) : I have 1.000 MD in my father's attic... I did the same with transparent tape. Till the tape does not cover the shutter mechanism area, it work. My choice is to avoid also the part up to the shutter mechanism area. So wait and see Roger"s work. About your 3D-print Stephen, it would be cool if this the one for storing MD +/- MD box in a CD box or a DVD Box. I have a friend who have a 3D printer.

Finding a repair person (not necessary trustworthy or reasonably-priced) is nowadays quite impossible (except in countries like Japan), only geeks who try to find at first spare parts buying cheap "for-spare-parts-units" on the web and then try to solve the problem with some Youtube videos step-by-step help or with help of another geek here, as we still have some members with a technical +/- electronic MD experience. Just need to awake sleeping bear in the cave.

Transfer / upload from the disc with SonicStage to your computer is not working ? Could work with another Hi-MD unit as it is an Hi-MD live recording. Also useful to test your disc first as you say your RH1 is messed up. Just find in your area another Sony Insider member with a Hi-MD portable unit to help you ans send your discs.
