Ok point one, 2nd gen players will only play back MP3 of MPEG1 Audio Layer 3 not MPEG2 audio layer 3. The bitrate however can be anywhere from 32-320Kbps fixed or VBR. 2nd thing it will convert to all atrac bit rates but, in doing so doesn't delete the original MP3 file from your system. It will transfer whichever has a higher bitrate maybe to your player (if both are playable). To enforce it to transfer the Atrac file, go the properties of a converted file and click in the file info tab (see attachment). [attachmentid=861] You will see 2 files the Atrac and the original MP3, select the MP3 and press delete file leaving you with only the Atrac file to be transferred. This *will* delete the MP3 file permanently from your system so if you want to have a copy in the original format, make a copy and put in a different location. This way when you transfer, only the Atrac file will go across.

Like Volta, not sure I understood completely the question but you can download the manual from this page by clicking on the "Operating Instructions" link. http://esupport.sony.com/perl/model-docume...dl=MZRH10&LOC=3

Option 3 is to import all the tracks as is. Then in the properties of each track change the album name to be the same this will automatically put them in a single album in SS and thus be transferred as a single group.
-
Option 1 change all the MP3 tag's to have the same album name before importing them. SS will put them all under same album and transfer them as one group. Option 2 - transfer as is, then move all tracks to a single group on HI-MD after transfer and delete obsolete empty groups

That's lame... if you're that desperate to upgrade, sell it & use the money towards another model. I'd never break a unit on purpose.
-
why on earth do you want to break it??!!
-
Yep this is true, good thinking. Maybe this is why they called it "Simple" Burner
-
No need - open the full application. Click on CONFIG. Select NetMD as the disc format. Press the format button to format your disc. This will then allow you to choose LP2 or LP4 as the transfer mode. This will only work on first gen HI-MD units.

No, just upgrade via the sony site for your region using the internet installer.

Well, I've never had this problem. Have just tested this in SS3.2 under XP Pro SP2 converting multiple MP3's to Atrac3 132k and also to Atrac3plus 64K and no problems whatsoever. My SS installation consists of SS3.0 installed from original cd upgraded to SS3.1 and then 3.2 via Sony's site.

You never know indeed - anyway keep us posted and enjoy the unit!

Just to re-iterate what everyone else here has said Buyfromjapan is a great seller I have had several purchases from him and all have been faultless transactions. His shipping is very fast - I was staying in the UK with relatives one time and he shipped me an item from Japan on Wednesday night and on Friday morning it was on my door (2 days!). On average though it takes about 4-5 days for shipping to europe. All the players come with Japanese versions of SS and Simple Burner on the original discs but he also includes a disc with english versions of the software and a cd containing english manuals in pdf format. As has been mentioned the adaptor is 100-240V input so you only need a UK 3-pin adaptor which he will also include free of charge.

The first picture looks more like an RH910 where I understand the oustside of the body is silver /white with a black lid and a standard lcd display. All RH10's are definitely like picture 2. Difference being as others suggested that Japanese version has colour-coded RM-MC38ELK Lcd, Kanji-capable remote (matches colour of main unit) and a charging stand. All other (euro / us versions) don't. But all have organic LED.

Better still install SP2 for XP...

Audiocubes have them for $25 plus shipping: http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Audio+P..._USB_Cable.html

I believe this type of cable is also used by the MZ-EH1, MZ-NH3D & MZ-DH10P.

You can buy the D66's from audiocubes, as for the D77's I think you're best bet is eBay, but they don't come up often from what I gather. If anyone else knows of other sources for D77's let us know! The problem is that the D77's are discontinued whereas the D22's and D66's aren't. At least they are still in the 2005 catalog at http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/products/catalog/AVacc_sou.pdf

Yes I travel around a lot with my work, this station is Echt on the way to Maastricht, in the middle of nowhere. Of course the guy waiting with the folding bike is a bit of a giveaway
-
This is normal SS never recognises my Hi-MD's for about 30 seconds. After this if I then click on my blue transfer button at the top (next to My Library) I can see HI-MD (F:) as a possible destination.
-
If I remember correctly the D77's go down to 5hz vs. the D66's 10hz lower end - is that right? The Stanton DJ Pro 60's which I think I paid around 60 euros for a couple of years back have a range of 3-28000 Hz and have some of the best bass response on any set of phones I've heard. On the downside they are rather heavy despite folding in on themselves like the Eggo's.
-
Really? - Maybe get round to buying some in the future. Seems like the D77's on the other hand are really hard to find..
-
Aha - that's where your D66 pictorial went Ishi, was looking for that a while back.. Sorry for posting in wrong place!

I agree, there are lots of other phones out there with better performance, but for over the ear portable / casual use these are pretty decent. If you had to choose between these and say the MDR-EX81SL, I would definitely go for the latter as the performance is much better particuarly in the lower end frequencies. (Then again not everyone likes the full in the ear style). As I said before the best thing about these is how light they are and that I can wear them for long periods of time with little or no discomfort.

As Atrain says you need to check the bit-rate and encoding of the podcast mp3 file. A lot of podcasts (but not all) are recorded as mpeg-2 audio layer 3. The 2nd gen HI-MD will only play back mpeg-1 audio layer 3. Those I can't play natively I usually convert to Atrac 3plus 64K or Atrac3 132k. Hope this helps..
