  1. Take a look at this topic: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8147 Some possibles would be RM-MC35EL, RM-MC35ELK, RM-MC40ELK, RM-MC55ELK
  2. I don't think anyone can really answer this - Sony said from the first Hi-MD announcments that the technology was open to others. How true this was in practice we can never say. Onkyo was the only other manufacturer to make HiMD units.
  3. The 2005 Annual report says: "worldwide shipments of MD format devices decreased by 1.44 million units to 1.92 million units"
  4. He he, I'll second that, best bass around - freq. response 3-28000Hz, very good quality have had mine for over 2 years now.
  5. HD as in High-Def video etc...
  6. No . Unless someone asks the question in the Q&A. MD is probably in the 15 categories scheduled for restructuring - although who knows what degree of "restructuring" it faces. Probably as some of us said already, a reduction in models.
  7. If you download the .pdf of the presentation slides there is still no mention of MD even in the slides they haven't got to yet. Not sure if that is good or bad
  8. Product line re-focus No of models reduced by 20% vs 2005 Restructuring of 15 "unprofitable"" product categories (haven't said what these are yet...) Quote: "We have identified 15 business categories for which we are implementing plans including downsizing, alliances and disposals" (source: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/200509/05-050E/ )
  9. Run SS through Applocale using Chinese Traditional then import the CD. What does it display as? If it still doesn't work try running Applocale using Japanese, then import a CD. How do the titles appear? If they are still not diaplying refresh the Cd info manually using the CD info button to connect to the CDDB. If your registry area code was changed as you say to 80000 it should connect to the Chinese CDDB to download the titles.
  10. Because believe it or not, not everyone wants all of the features and sometimes it's not practical. There are still people who want player only units and don't necessarily need recording capabilities preferring stylish slimline units that wouldn't be possible if you tried to cram a load of other features in. The NH1 admittedly has the best of both worlds, but when the 1st gen HD came out maybe not everyone could afford such a top-end model.
  11. Where exactly did you get your unit from? What are your language settings for the menus on the unit? If you look at page 61 in the manual it says Traditional Chinese is only available on certain models. What languages are available for the menus? Hold down the menu button and go to Options => Language - If you only have Japanese and English as language options then it may be that the unit will only display Kanji that exist in Japanese as well. Having said that others on the forum have not had any problems - when you run SS using Applocale do you choose chinese or Japanese? Try running it as Japanese, but leaving the area code in the registry to 80000.
  12. Take a look here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11256 If you have an Asian RH10 you definitely won't have any problems. Even if you don't - try it anyway and let us know how you get on.
  13. Well a couple of things I'd like to say about this... I don't want to sound arrogrant or elitist, but a lot of the SS questions on here that are non-installation related can be answered by looking in the online help which comes with SS. Also a lot of the issues have now been addressed in SS3.2. Just curious why you think your MZ-NH900 cannot be used to it's full capacity - if there's a specific problem you're having trouble with describe it and maybe we can help you out. I don't think we can put any pressure on Sony as far as SS is concerned unfortunately as they have now ceased development in favour of the Connect software - which may or may not be better or worse.
  14. http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Product/Paudi/Mz-dh10pr/Store/ So what colour did you get in the end - silver? Enjoy the DH10P!
  15. A different approach and a bit more expensive is something like this: http://cgi.ebay.de/Sony-Car-Adapter-fuer-N...4QQcmdZViewItem
  16. The ones I have seen don't. For example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-DCC-FMT3-Car-FM-S...7QQcmdZViewItem
  17. Listening to Effective Force | Back and to the Left in 256K Atrac 3+ 01 In The Beginning (2:16) 02 Reality Labyrinth (9:04) 03 Make Me Forget (7:16) 04 Back And To The Left (9:01) 05 Big Surprise (6:37) 06 Left Hand, Right Hand (4:49) 07 Fish (5:35) 08 Ultimate Flower (8:58) 09 Trouble And Desire (5:16) 10 So (3:36) 11 My Time Is Yours (Past, Present And Future) (5:14)
  18. I'll assume you mean the RH10 because as I said earlier in the topic the DH10P is pretty much all metal apart from the lens cover and the side panel battery cover
  19. Mp3 sounds ok to me on my DH10P, but... 1) I have fairly few MP3's 2) They are all encoded at 256K or higher
  20. He he, the power of Ishii - I was half decided between getting this and an NH3D. Thanks to Ishii's advice and another great pictorial, I also placed an order for a black EH1.
  21. You can play any MP3 (MPEG1 Audio Layer 3) vbr or cbr from 32Kbps up to 320kbps. No add-on battery pack. This is because the internal battery is lithium ion and of a different voltage.
  22. Onkyo has a Hi-MD bookshelf system, plus 2 separate decks, Sony has the Lam-X1 and CMT-AH10 bookshelf systems. So far all are available in Japan only.
  23. Picked up some old favourites this week on DVD: Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (1982) Casino - Special Edition 2 DVD (1990) Nixon (1995)
  24. As I said in the review, if you have it on all the time then it will have an effect on the battery. By default it switches off after about 30 seconds or so. Having said that I did notice once when I was viewing the display for a sustained period the battery meter went down, but after switching off the display it actually went up again.
