  1. Check what your AC adaptor says on it - if it says for example Input 100-240V you will only need a plug adaptor to convert to US 2 pin as it can handle a range of voltages. If it has a fixed input for example 230V only then you will need a step-up transformer as US has 110V vs 220/230 in Europe.
  2. Audiocubes will not be able to ship it until the end of the month from what I hear as they are out of stock. The silver is only available in Japan. One respected etailer is the ebay seller "buyfromjapan" he should have some silvers in at the end of the month for approx $338 USD plus shipping.

  4. With the version of Hi-MD Music Transfer currently shipping with the RH1 you can indeed only upload to Mac. There should hopefully be an update to the software in the summer that will allow download of MP3 to Mac.
  5. The best deals are indeed still Minidisc Oz. Bought some yesterday from them: Not multipacks, but excellent value; http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=9724821446
  6. Ok great. Thanks Ishii! - I have indeed read some good comments about the Hong Kong mix especially. I will have to see if I can find the long box versions somewhere. 7. Wow - that is very freaky! Incidentally I don't yet have the Hong Kong & LA mixes from this series - just wondering how you rate them?

  9. It's ok - I have PM'd Stuge the details though.
  10. Yes, you will pay import tax / duty on something this size and value, but the rates will indeed depend on your local authority. (That post from T-board was I think responding to another question about importing Walkman's). What I just meant to say is that obviously when you think about importing a unit like this you need to budget for shipping and taxes.

  12. I'll agree with that - when I went to Marck's place I took the DH10P and EH1 for comparison purposes. Whilst the difference in playback of MP3 between the DH10P and RH1 was clearly audible the difference in playback of 256 / 352 Atrac3+ between the RH1 and the EH1 / DH10P was not noticable. Admittedly I didn't have the best of headphones with me at the time nor did we go too in depth, but initial findings would backup what Ishii has said.
  13. They have come down quite a bit in price now - you can now get these for around ¥40000 or less than $400 USD. Obviously you need to budget for shipping and import taxes if you are outside Japan.
  14. The optical out is indeed just for the CD section. As for the subwoofer it's not on my list at the moment, but if at some point I upgrade to a proper home cinema setup (of which Onkyo has some very nice options even here in Europe) then maybe I'll use it. For the moment though the bass (and indeed the sound in general) is just great as it is.
  15. Tiesto already posted a pictorial I believe.
  16. Mine just peeled off. I left it on for a couple of months at the beginning and was worried that maybe it would leave a mark or that the area underneath would remain a different color if I left it on too long. When I did take it off it was fine and left no marks / stickiness at all. In fact Stuge if you want you can have my sticker if yours is missing (Although it's the Japanese one).
  17. No I got it through pricejapan. The brown one Audiocubes lists must be the slightly lower model X-B7 as the X-B8 only has black or white options.
  18. Finished work - going out for a walk to get some fresh air and buy a beer or three.
  19. No problem - But to answer your question more fully it plays back Hi-MD's at all bitrates inc. 192 / 352 and LP2 on Hi-MD formatted discs and all the usual legacy modes to boot. It will record directly to MD at PCM / 256 / 64 in Hi-MD mode or SP / Mono / LP2 / LP4 in standard MD format.
  20. Yes indeed this is a Hi-MD system as the title of the topic suggests

    RH1 mp3 Query

You should be able to transfer (via Sonic Stage of course) any MP3 that is: MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 32/ 44.1 / 48khz Sample rate with bitrates of 32-320Kbps VBR / CBR.
  22. It is still listed as a current model on the Sony NL site - but I also presume that Sony knew of the impending RH1 some time before they actually announced it.

Thanks ;-) Note: The transformer pictured is not supplied with the unit, this is just the one I happen to use. All images © Copyright 2006 - Richard H. 24. No question of that and if the post in question is the "Hints on levels..." one it was well worth the effort.
