oooooh - very nice - 42 inch?
-
Yes of course, the manual option is also the other method to get them in. This is what I usually use too.
-
It seems very good so far. I have used it mainly on international calls pc to pc to Japan and UK and everyone said the quality was excellent both in normal phone mode and when using it as a hands-free speaker phone placed on the desk. No echo. For me it is very useful as I probably spend a good few hours on Skype a day to colleagues in other countries. As both my other headset and usual notebook mouse died at the same time I was able to replace them both with one accessory. Design is also quie nice despite looking a bit plasticky.

Grrr... no jog dial... But the play / ffwd / rwd switch rocks from side to side. That good enough? -

Ok - just to clear this up - track titles are not visible on the unit display. Sorry to break the bad news. From our testing we can confirm this is the case. Also there is no search button on the unit. BUT as we will confirm for the last time the RM-MC40ELK is compatible. Sony EU have again (as was the case with the DH10P) put out some incorrect info on the websites in Europe. This has already been pointed out to them. If you can bear to hang on to around beginning next week when we will have the review out hopefully a lot of these doubts will be dispelled. -
I don't think it is completely automatic - sometimes when cddb gets the album info it also retrieves the album art which in SS 3.4 it displays in a pop-up. You can then drag this into the title bar on to the square in the Import A CD window and it will be assigned to the album in My Library. In my experience (at least for the albums in my collection) this happens about 1 time in 10.

I think you're confusing HDTV with HD DVD. I have a Sony Bravia HD compatible LCD TV. Sony actually sold more LCD TV's in Q4 2005 than it's major competitors combined - the majority of which were HD compatible. You are obviously also forgetting all the Sony HD Handycam's that got very good reviews. You may also want to have a look at this: http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArticle.act...&site=odw_en_GB I think also it is unfair to say there are no other models getting good reviews: As we mentioned this morning the latest Mobile GPS units are getting good reviews, if you open this months Empire magazine for example there is a top-end Sony DVD player with 5 stars. The DAV-X1 home cinema system is doing well, there are plenty of Cyber-Shot camera's out there getting good marks.. the list goes on.

Lol - You can actually get the JP version to install in english windows XP by editing the setupss.inf file and running the install via Applocale (obviously you need to have support for Japanese language installed). But unless you can read Japanese it will be quite tough to use...

All I can say is when I tested the RH1 I used MP3 discs that were created with a prior version of SS and sent to the DH10P. When these same discs were played back on the RH1 they sounded considerably better. This would lead me to say the issue is (was) a hardware one.

Neither the 710 or the 910 can record natively to legacy modes on the unit themselves. All can create legacy discs via Sonic Stage / Simple Burner in LP2 / LP4 (with discs formatted to the old NetMD mode). Neither model (or any other) can download true legacy SP tracks to the unit through Sonic Stage - only LP2 dressed up as SP.
-
There should be no differences in the upload speed between regional versions of the RH1. The only difference may be that because you will be getting a JP unit, it will ship with the JP versions of Sonic stage / Simple Burner.

Well just to confirm this one more time all of the above do work on the RH1 we tested them with.

I could do 2 black EH1's -
The U-70 is supposed to be very good. In Europe it ships with maps for 20 Euro countries, whilst the U-50 I think it is only has Benelux (or UK in the UK) maps. I previously bought my wife one of the older models which was the NVX-P1 (below). This also has maps for all of Europe but is a little bigger and uses the same software as some Navman models. It is generally very good though and we have used it on a few trips through Belgium, France, UK.

What characters are you looking to display?
-
These have been out in Europe for a while and have received some good press reviews.

Yes I was over at MDFreak's place yesterday. We tested the RM-MC40ELK and all 3 lines work. He did mentioned it himself in the main RH1 thread but that's a few posts back now...
-
Well having had a hands on with the RH1, I'm happy to say it is actually all its cracked up to be. The RM-MC40ELK is 100% compatible. But anyway I digress...

That is not the amp but a battery compartment containing an AAA mini battery and on top of that the switch to activate / deactivate noise cancelling. It has a clip on the back to attach to a lapel or something as well. It is actually fairly light and doesn't weigh too much but can flap about a bit so use the clip. Only problem is that if you want to use an lcd remote as well as these the whole cord length combined becomes very long!

Glad to hear it all went well. When I got my DH10P it was sent by my contact in Japan on a Wednesday night and on Friday morning Parcel Force delivered it to my UK address. I was also v. tempted to get a blue NH3D but with the RH1 now out thought I'd leave it. Love to see some photos, I think we only have 1 pictorial of the NH3D that was done beginning of 2005.

Those glasses cleaning cloths are a nightmare. I was silly enough to do something similar on the LCD of my DH10P minidisc player a few months back. I miraculously restored it to a "as new" condition using Brasso. It now looks as good as the day I bought it - I had read about this solution but never believed it might work. I strongly advise against toothpaste as this will likely increase the scratching. I think the Brasso solution would be ok on the PSP, but for the NWA it is a lot bigger area to cover I think. I was very very careful when I did mine. I carefully put masking tape around the edges of the screen to avoid the brasso making contact with either the metal casing or entering the unit in any way. I then took a tiny amount of Brasso on some kitchen towel (scottex or whatever you want to call it), and just tried with one corner first - you may want to do the same. Basically give it a good rub for around 5 mins in a circular fashion. A this point you will just have kind of white smearing. Wipe this off with the kitchen paper. Then clean with a couple of drops of water / dampened kitchen paper again and check the results. If this works give it a go on a larger area.

That looks like SS 1.x yes. Indeed much progress has been made since then and we now in 3.4 we have a lot more stable and feature packed application.

The DH10P Review by The Blue Raja
Richard replied to theblueraja's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Congrats on the purchase, yes I think the US version of the adaptor only has 110V input whereas other versions of the DH10P like Japan and possibly europe come with 100-240V adaptors (so you would only need a plug adaptor at most). The DH10P requires 6V for charging like most of the other Li-Ion Hi-MD units. Indeed the same battery is used on the RH1 with USB charging. -
I'll confirm this, the 38EL will work fine with all Hi-MD units but it is not multi-line. The only option as Pata says for multi-line on Hi-MD units at the moment is the 40ELK.
