i think a battery box would yield better results than that of the circuitry inbuilt into the N707...
-
just to extend wot BerkY has said above the CK part in MZN510CKS means that it comes with a Car Kit and the S stands for the colour Silver i think...so you'd end up getting a Silver MZ-N510 NetMD unit with a car kit is all that's saying...
-
yup i dun think it'll work unless they've released a patch or statement saying that it will work on it...just check the Sony site for it to make sure..
-
use a program such as winLAME or RazorLAME...or basically any program that uses the LAME encoder...this would do the job just fine...
-
iPods seem to have a few problems with their battery so i wouldn't be surprised about it too much...

well yes that's true kinda, there hasn't been much Mac support from Sony or any of the other companies in regards to NetMD units so you'd be hard pressed finding a fully functional program that will mimic the functionality of SonicStage.OpenMG/SimpleBurner/BeatJam on the Mac (not that you'd really want to since they're pretty buggy) but otherwise there is one user made program for the mac that allows mac users to transfer through a program called xmd...i'm not entirely sure ware to get it since i don't own a mac (...yet...)... it can actually have a maximum of 4x compression (LP4 quality) but it's really really bad and most ppl just don't bother with this mode and stick with LP2 quality (2x compression)... i don't think so...since the MD hooks up via the USB cable directly and needs drivers for it to get recognised by windows...but you can hook it up to a miniplug and record either through digital or analogue cables but this will be done in real-time and not any faster... i know what you mean...i own the Tungsten T3 and i shove a 512MB SD in there...but i've given up in trying to use it as a music player since i need the battery on the unit for me to be able to do more important things than listen 2 music...i usually use MD to do this...it's well worth the cost IMO...

load up the CD again and there should be an option down the bottom asking you if you want to install the NetMD drivers...just click that basically...
-
hmmm...well i dunno then sorry...how bout encoding the file to a .wav and transfering that across as well???
-
usually on DVD players they tend to have a square plug as an optical output jack...as with the front panels in most creative series of soundcards so just look for a square -> miniplug (circle) cable to record from these...portable CD players usually tend to have a miniplug (circle) jack that is similar to that found on MD's and you use the miniplug (circle) -> miniplug (circle) cable to record through here...usually decks have square input jacks and these need a square -> square optic cable to record from a dvd player or audigy platinum drive (which is how i hook my MD deck to my computer)

not too sure...i don't think there is a way to change the permission setting so that the user can have admin access to get SonicStage up and running and still resticted to being a user access levels....
-
that's typical of tech support... :? sorry to see that you've run into a problem like this...but the matter can't be helped since the software relies on admin access to be used...
-
i wouldn't say that the Sony's shock protection is excellent in that it's practically flawless...there are flaws and it shows up on some units more than others (i.e. the E500 player i have in my possession atm seems to be playing up)...but this seems to be an isolated problem so it's nothing to worry about...it is however one of the best shock-protection mechanisms out there atm...

choose the bitrate of 132kbps since this is LP2 and the 105kbps is specifically for their memory stick network walkmans and NOT for NetMD's so it won't work...and yes LP4 is 66kbps...can't be changed...
-
well basically there's an option in OMG to ask which mode u want to encode it to...i usually choose LP2...and with the nero + simpleburner method the advantage over transfering through OMG is that the tracks transfered using the Nero/SimpleBurner method u can edit and delete from your MD recorder whereas those transfered through OMG cannot...(if you want to delete songs from the MD you have to do it via computer...)

Hi...I'm new here, and I have a few questions :)
mAjEsTiC replied to falloffstage's topic in Minidisc
yup that's tru...check out the new DR580 unit from sharp... -
re-install the MD drivers i spose...otherwise when u have SimpleBurner up and plugging in the unit to the USB port and see if it can recorgnise it then...
-
try re-installing the software...
-
it's an ok model...it depends by ur definition of durable though...
-
i don't think there are any MD decks out there that you can use to connect to the PC via firewire...nor is there any MD setup that i've seen that can do what a DV deck can do...so ur stuck with recording it manually i'm afraid...
-
if that's the case that BerkY is describing there then i'd have to agree with him in that if you're using SonicStage to listen 2 music from your MD then it won't play sound through the speakers since the audio data isn't u/l from your MD -> PC so u need 2 listen to the song through the headphones...but if you've already transfered the file across to your MD and then (not connected to the PC via USB) listen to it on the unit and no sound comes out on that particular song (and all the rest of them do have sound), then it's an error in the file encoding...just use the LAME encoder to convert to .wav file and transfer it across again...
-
u need 2 type them out manually with the keyboard...and the songs i usually title fit perfectly on the MD i record...i use LP2 as a min quality setting so maybe that's one of the reasons...
-
openmg and sonicstage are basically the same program with just different GUI...so it should take more or less the same time to convert...and i don't know of other software that will allow you to encode in .omg since this is Sony's proprietary format and i doubt they'd have licenced it out to other software companies... u can use openmg to title your md's using your keyboard via the USB connection to the MD...
-
yup i agree...Sharp models are pretty good...take a look at the DR580 for example...
-
get it back to a Sony repair center if you can...my N1 unit showed these symptoms as well before it stopped recording a bit after...so i spose it's best you get it checked out...

MiniDisc is meant to be a replacement for the cassette...it is like a digital cassette kind of in a way...i.e. has the flexibility and sound quality of a CD (digital) but the recording capabilities of a cassette...it sounds a lot better than cassette, can basically nearly instantly skip songs and rearrange them to what ever order you like...combine or split tracks on the MD and so on... well the difference between these is the eventual recording that goes onto the MD...analogue cables are susceptable to interference from things that basically give out an electro magnetic field and so you kind of get some noise when you record through this (although quality is very good otherwise...higher quality cables sound nearly as good as a recording done through digital cable)...whereas digital is not and the recording is more or less an exact digital copy of what you are recording from... NetMD just makes it a LOT faster for you to transfer music across from your PC -> MD in LP2 and LP4 modes...that's basically the plus of NetMD... an LP2 track is encoded in ATRAC3 format which is an interesting compression algorithm...yes it is about 132Kbps in quality but this should not be confused with mp3 bitrates since these have different ways of compression...quite a few ppl claim that they can't tell much difference between that of SP quality and that of LP2 quality so IMO LP2 on an MD will sound like at least a 192kbps mp3....LP2 is the way i transfer music across to my MD most of the time...it's the lowest setting i would go... RealOne player is basically another program that will allow you to transfer files to your NetMD capable unit...it's basically the same as OpenMG and SonicStage...just a different company makes it so different interface and feel to the program...that's about it... hope this helps...
