  1. it depends on which of the programs you are using..there is usually a drop down menu or option box where u can chooes the mode b4 transfer...
  2. hmmm...not too sure on teh deets myself but from those japanese slides i take it that it does wonders for the output since it showed all those headphone out pictures and how 1-bit amp deals with it...and the fact that the headphones that come with it have a specialised 4 pole jack...oh well...u could be right...
  3. as you've noticed the N505 has Type R ATRAC (which was only used in the highest quality decks) and sports NetMD functionality but lacks a Mic In jack (i think) whereas the R700 just has a normal ATRAC and no NetMD capability but has a Mic In jack...the Type R DSP is meant to yield better recording results than that of normal ATRAC as the processing capacity is increased and some other trickeries they do make it so....and yes the N505 uses USB to connect to ur PC so that u can download songs to it faster than real-time...with the R700 u need to record using cables and in real-time...

    Luminator on MDs!

Aiwa units used to have them before it came under Sony management...(but the F90 was the last Aiwa unit with Backlit LCD while it was under Sony management...)
  5. it sounds pretty darn good IMO...the 1-bit amp does the unit wonders for the output....
  6. basically these two programs convert your music files or audio CD's into ATRAC3 format...this format is protected by MagicGate (MG) encryption which basically doesn't allow copying of these files over to another PC that it wasn't checked out from...you can change whatever music files to this format to transfer over (whether from Audio CD or mp3/wma/wav) to the unit but it won't allow you to transfer back to another PC which you didn't originally transfer the songs over from (if that makes any sense)...all Sony units rely on their proprietary ATRAC3(Plus) encoding nowdays so u need to convert it in order for them to read them...(well the MS Duo mp3 player and NetMD units...the mp3 CD player reads a range of files though)
  7. i would have agreed with your previous post but you have to see that not everyone owns an MD deck...the best they have is probably a PC with an optical out from the soundcard so i was just explaining how to do it from the PC that way...
  8. i think it's because the N910 is more advanced than that of your JE510 deck as the JE510 deck was released about 98 i think and the N910 has just been released recently...the N910 sports features that your deck doesn't have and in that time span of about 4-5 years there has been a lot of technological changes put into recorders that make their recording quality as good as decks...the Type S ATRAC DSP would help considerably to outperform that of your deck i would imagine...
  9. you have to get a normal dual 3.5mm plug analogue stereo cable and connect it from the LINE OUT of your unit to the LINE IN of the soundcard and use a program such as WinNMD to get the tracks back to your computer with titles...then it should be saved as either an mp3 or a wav file on your PC...from there just open up your burning program and compile a cd with those files...
  10. from what i've owned and used there are no NetMD units out there that are capable of transfering from MD -> PC digitally...NetMD originally wasn't meant for uploading so they never implemented this feature in...that and Sony have an internal war raging between Sony Music and Sony Electronics about copyright infringement if NetMD uploading would have been implemented...i think that both Sony and Sharp make nice units overall...depending on your type of taste for the sound output of the two brands will lead you to which one you would ultimately buy...so far i think the nicest one out of all of them would have to be the Sharp DR580 unit...i've own the N1 and N10 units and can pretty much vouch for them but the Sharp one i've used before and it blows them away in terms of sound...
  11. have you tried Japan Direct, T-Station or Minidisco and see if they sold any???
  12. apparently BT maxes out @ 1Mbps from what i've read...this is only theoretical and in reality you'll be hard pressed getting this transfer rate...400kbps from a mobile?!?!? I haven't seen that transfer rate before on any of my mobiles that have BT inbuilt...just out of curiousity what connector are you using to the PC???
  13. well the Digtal PC link i'm taking it as being an Optical output from the computer??? as i said before there are two types of NetMD units...the NetMD recorders such as the N & NF series from Sony and DR series from Sharp do have these recording inputs that allow you to record from any source and also allow you to transfer music from PC -> MD...but the NetMD downloaders such as the Aiwa units and NE series from Sony do not have those inputs and can only download music from PC -> MD...
  14. have you checked that the optical output of that soundcard has been enabled??? (u should see a red light if it is) and also are you using the TOSLink output out of the Creative card (usually square) or the proprietary Creative digital output (circle)? because the circular jack doesn't work with MD's as it is a specialised jack for Creative's own range of speakers...
  15. what i mean is that NetMD downloaders do not feature a Mic In or Optical In jacks...they only feature a USB connection point and a headphone output jack...and what do you mean by will NetMD recognise sound? i'm not entirely sure what you're asking there sorry...
  16. SonicStage/OpenMG can transfer in SP mode but it is not true SP...just a phantom LP2 track that gets recognised as an SP track on the unit...i.e you don't get the full bit rate of SP but rather you get a higher bitrate LP2 track (as SonicStage/OpenMG encodes in ATRAC3 format that the LP modes use and not just ATRAC which SP uses...) so yes the only way that you can get true SP is to record in real-time...

    T-marking Question

if you transfered out using OpenMG/SonicStage then yes you can't...but if you used SimpleBurner then you can...
  19. not too sure about the euro version of those units but from what i've heard the units sold in europe are all capped?? maybe i'm wrong but i know that the N910 is NOT capped...
  20. check out ur other post here as i'v answered it there...
  21. NetMD recorder are basically the same thing as your R900 (has recording functions and input jacks) but with NetMD capability...NetMD downloader can only "download" music from PC -> MD and cannot record anything as it doesn't have any input jacks to do so...
  22. you can find where the OpenMG/SonicStage puts the .omg files : For SonicStage : by just clicking on the Menu button on the bottom left then go to Options...from there there should be an option on the left box called Location to save the recorded files...clicking on that will show you where SonicStage puts them....just copy and paste that directory into Windows Explorer and go to that directory and delete all the .omg files there... For OpenMG : this is a similar method since OpenMG and SonicStage are essentially the same program just with a different GUI (though OpenMG 2.2 and SonicStage 1.2 look exactly alike...) Go to the menu on the top bar called Tools then Options the from there a box will pop up with a few tabs on the top...clicking on the one named CD Recording/Playing 1 and going about 1/2 down the screen you will see an option called Settings for CD Recording and below that a box where it tells you the Location to save the recorded file...copy and paste this in Windows Explorer to open up the directory and delete the .omg files...
  23. nope i unfortunately i don't have a Sharp NetMD unit...only Sony...i do however have a Sharp player and also have played around with my friend's Sharp DR580 unit...
  24. try updating or reinstalling the software and see if it works...
