  1. if u haven't hacked ur N707 to enable the LINE OUT feature on the menu just set the volume level to 30/30 and turn off EQ/Sound settings...then use the headphone out to the LINE IN of the Audigy at the back of the card...
  2. don't think so...coz that jack is only meeant for output and not input...even if there were i would think that u need to get a hardware mod to enable this...that and somehow re-wire the circuitry so it'll make use of the input jack to record onto the MD...
  3. it's probably fixable if you can "unhack" the unit since i'm assuming he's tried to hack it and stuffed it up somewhere...you can check this thread to find out how to fix it up...one of the users already outlined the method of trying to attempt to revive the unit through the service menu if you can get into it in the first place...but if all fails and you can't do anything it's better if you take it back to Sony to get it repaired...

    Drag n Drop?

nope unfortunately i haven't used the programs on Linux...i would probably say they would be far more stable and encounter less problems than Sony? (since this seems to be the case with Linux as opposed to Windows)...but provided that you have the method to do the conversion making the program isn't that hard...it's just the Mp3->ATRAC->MD transfer algorithm they have to get right...
  5. it's a small type of connector...kinda reminds me of the 4 -> 6 pin firewire cables...one end goes into the PC and the other into the peripheral...take a look at most of the USB connectors that ship with quite a lot of digital cameras...they have the same cable as the ones used on NetMD capable units...i think online retailers and some shops stock up on these but you have to check...and don't worry about the brand of the cable...i own a Sony digital camera and it shipped with a rebranded TDK USB cable...so not all Sony products use Sony accessories...=)
  6. yeh Aiwa is under Sony management...so practically it is more or less exactly like a Sony unit now...not much different...they have the same software and basically the same user manuals just rebadged unit with update aesthetic features...
  7. not to my knowledge...i don't think that Sony sell these accessories though i could be wrong...try looking around on eBay for a bust N1 unit or something...these usually go for cheap and all you'd take is the cradle...
  8. no such optical output on any of the current portable units that i know of...optical input is available on many though...try looking at the Sharp series...the DR420 seems to be a nice budget unit with all the features that you would want...try taking a look at that...
  9. yeh true...but most companies don't make stuff in japan now...i mean Sony are shifting to china and other countries for manufacturing now...so expect to see a decline in products being made in Japan...but yes products from Japan hardly fail...but like everything else they eventually do fail...and when they do it would be about time to upgrade i would think because it takes a LONG time for them to go bust...
  10. i spose it's designed for ppl who don't own decks or hifi's and want this feature...

    Drag n Drop?

it beats having copyright protection...and ppl can just use m3u2usb to make things simpler...

    Sony MZ N10

fair enough...that's a good msg 2 all u conscious buyers out there... try b4 u buy...
  13. from Sharp?? i wouldn't say so...Sony maybe but sharp don't seem to charge as much...friend had an old mini system from them that went bust and he took it back for repairs...only costed his about A$80 to fix up i think...it wasn't that much really...
  14. take a look at the Sharp DR420 unit...this may be within your budget range i think??? it's not made by Sony, has NetMD and a remote (though not backlit nor does it have an LCD) + is a damn fine live recording unit...you could try looking online for this unit...i think most online vendors would have stocked up on it by now...Aiwa is under Sony management so effectively it is a Sony...

    Sony MZ N10

i thought u were testing the unit out thoroughly...^^ so i thought that u told them to like charge up the battery (or use the AC adaptor) and an MD to test out if the unit works...but yeh i usually trust them most of the time since if it doesn't work then i can just bring it back to the store and have them swap it...(this has never happened to me with any of my products that i've bought from Sony or any other brand thus far...and hopefully never will)

    Drag n Drop?

not if you're using SimpleBurner...i don't think they have a check-in/check-out counter...but then again i could be wrong..
  17. it's just for ppl who want to play around with the MD i spose...it's a pretty funky way of getting a portable to become like a hifi/deck with a remote....brings back memories of few years back when i was contemplating of doing a project such as this to hand in as my major work in high school...
  18. ah i remember seeing this site somewhere...maybe it was u who mentioned it before??? i don't know...but yes very nice post Bazirker...=) should make a sticky of it somewhere so ppl can go directly to it for reference...

    Sony MZ N10

so u get them to get an MD and a fully charge battery and show u that the unit works??? interesting...i've never gone that far b4...just got them to open up the box and show me that everything is there...
  20. yup u can title your tracks via SonicStage/OpenMG...
  21. mAjEsTiC

    Drag n Drop?

not to my knowledge...you need to convert it to ATRAC3 as MD's use ATRAC/ATRAC3 encoding and not mp3...
  22. sorry i should'v phrased it better...what i mean is that i really don't know how much it'll cost to get it repaired...since i've never gotten my units repaired when they were out of their warranty period...i would say that it probably won't cost an arm and a leg to fix up but it would cost a fair amount to get it fixed up...say double~triple digits in A$...
  23. i doubt it...i've used SonicStage on an AMD XP machine and it transfers songs across fine...

    Sony MZ N10

quite hard 2 check a brand new product that hasn't been opened yet...to find a unit with a non working screen is pretty rare...unless the connectors are loose??? but that's pretty uncommon since i remembered a few years back we had to build out own digital multimeters in high skool and most of the displays worked...and if they didn't it was because of the "rubber" connectors...but that was MUCH bigger than MD's so i wouldn't muck around with it if i were you...just take it back (as BerkY suggested) if it's under warranty to get it checked out i spose...that's the safest path IMO...
