ah i have the jap version of the N10 so the output aint capped...but it still sounds lighter than my N1 unit (<- this is under repairs atm due to a mechanical fault)...the E10 i'm not using coz i don't really wanna wreck it so i end up using my DS8 which is a kick ass player IMO...
-
i use digital from my deck then connect it to my PC using audition to record and split up my wav files and then save + transfer over to ipod...only way i've found out how 2 do it...time consuming but eh...
-
oh rite i think i kinda get wot u mean now...that's the screen on the underside not the actual LCD...so don't worry too much since it won't affect the MD in ne way...
-
turn off the auto sync i spose??? oh wait no that won't work....hmmm...damn...um well u could remove the trackmarks urself after you've recorded them....but that would be a hassle...sorry don't know actually...i usually want track marks inbetween mine when i record non-stop trance remixes...
-
the cheapest deck here in aus that ships with a digital out is the JE780 which retails for about A$1000 here... regarding the mp3 home unit setup i don't really have a dedicated one other than my computer setup hooked up to my hifi speakers at home...i also own an ipod but would prefer to use it as a portable rather than a home stereo...
-
either u take it 2 a Sony repair store or try and "un-hack" ur unit to its previous settings to see if that works...
-
so far there's no program that i'm aware of that will enable us to transfer music from the PC -> MD in SP mode...all the programs that i've used transfer only in LP modes and to record SP it has to be done in real-time using old school methods of hooking cables up...
-
this also happened on my N1 unit and a bit later down the track it completely failed to record anything...hence y now it's with Sony being repaired...i suggest u take it to a Sony Repair Center and have it checked out...otherwise try to shift the positions of those last few songs...i.e. record them first and see if they will record...
-
i'm afraid that ur stuck with recording it through old school methods using real-time since the newer units that ship with these programs only transfer at a max of LP2 quality...
-
that should be the coating of the screen (probably it has come in contact with fingerprints or something)...nothing to worry about...unless it is affecting the display directly (i.e. where the rainbow swirly colours are u can't see any text on the LCD)
-
??? it should charge while the unit is in the cradle...try ur unit on the cradle again and see if it works...i can't test it on my N1 atm because it's in 4 repairs... :?
-
sorry lemme rephrase what i said earlier...i can tell the difference between LP2 and SP, but that's with high quality headphones and speaker setup...but like i said "most" people can't tell the difference...the thing is in he way the data is compress...ATRAC is kind of different to mp3 when it's recorded at SP and LP2...i.e. if u get a 320kbps mp3 and a 128kbps mp3 u can tell the difference...but with ATRAC/ATRAC3 (SP/LP2) it's harder...but the difference is there...i usually record no less than LP2 as that is enough for my needs commuting to and from uni every day...SP i use for backing up my albums (either that or i rip to wavs and shove em on my iPod)...
-
just to recap wot tmeg said above... well depends on how you record using optic...whether it's SP, LP2 or LP4 mode...SP ~ 292kbps, LP2 ~ 132kbps, LP4 ~ 66kbps...most ppl can't tell the difference between LP2 and SP modes so if you want to transfer via SonicStage, use LP2 mode... apparently there is...check this thread for more info... also you can find the "simpleburner + nero" method that tmeg is talking about above here at this thread...
-
same story here in aus unfortunately...oh well i spose we have to wait until Sony do release info on their new units...
-
when this happens to me on my N1 i usually undock it and then re-dock it in its cradle and try the transfer again...it usually gets it to work...either that or i do a system restart and try again...
-
i'm not 100% sure but i think it does...
-
they should announce their new units very soon...should be around about now actually or maybe early next month...but we havn't heard much from them lately about their new upcoming products so we can only hope...
-
try re-installing the drivers and/or software...this usually tend to work...
-
i might decide to post up a simple review of some sort if i get the time...=/ but Brian Youn has already put a relatively detailed review up on the web (in which u can find here)...
-
i second kurisu's opinion above...i own an N10 and tho quite happy with it the battery life really gets to me after having taken for granted the battery life on my N1 unit...
-
??? really??? ok then...hit me with the other inventions... :? ...
-
most MD units are very similar in specs...just a few extras added in on the higher units + also ize and weight issue but that's about it...if you have no intention of wanting to record from practically any source then stick with ur mp3 player i spose...unless u feel that the incentive is there 2 switch 2 md...
-
u can't transfer faster than real-time with the R700 since it's not NetMD capable...using the PC link just gives the unit a digital output and you have to record using normal methods (i.e. play a song in like winamp or a similar program and then slide the recording switch on the unit)...if the PC link came with software then use that...
-
yeh i agree...the older units hardly ever failed this soon...oh well...i think it could be either that the recording head is completely dead or that it somehow has become misalligned...either way this problem wasn't as frequently encountered with the older units...
-
yep MD players do support ID3 tags of some sort...titling these songs are a help in tracking down a song that you want played... the music is organised either in groups (kind of like folders on an mp3 player such as the ipod) and so you can easily find a song within a group using the LCD by scrolling through the titles...it would be better if you have a lot of songs, to put them in a few groups so you know approx ware the song would be...
