that's cool...but if that guy did manage to somehow make a program to make this happen (tho i would highly doubt it since data MD's and audio MD's need different media and recording methods <- or so i'm told) then i would like to know how he did it...NetMD was not created to be a means of storage so that you can store computer files onto an MD (plus MD's only hold about 150Mb give or take...) so i dunno... :?

ahh ic ic...fair enough...
-
hope u enjoy the unit... make sure u watch the charge on the battery constantly since it is significantly shorter than that of the N1 unit...but still relatively long...
-
ah yes, i agree that these do exist in asian countries (tho not so much in european countries any more since their popularity isn't as high as that in asian countries)...but to find one that you can erase and put data on from the computer is not easy to find...this u need to dig around for and i think they mainly sell these units (or used to) in Japan and not many places outside of it...(well mayb except the US)

this happened on my N1 unit...my guess is that the recording lens was misaligned or totally stopped working or something...still under repairs so i would'n know wot the problem was until i get it back...
-
rite now i think Sony and Sharp are on par with the mW for the non-European models...the Sharp units i think have easier recording facilities than Sony units and their sound is very good...though i wouldn't write off Sony's sound as being shoddy...i've experienced both newer Sharp and Sony units while recording and i think they're more or less on par when you get the recording level perfected...

heyy there, well wot i suggest is hooking up a 3.5mm stereo cable from your MD's Headphone/Line OUT to the LINE IN of your sound card on the computer...use a program such as Creative Recorder (if you own a creative soundcard) or a program such as Adobe Audition (this is very easy to use btw) to record the sound from the MD onto your PC...this would save into a .wav format...then basically open up your burning software and burn the wav files onto an Audio CD and u're done...=)

check this thread

well i'v owned an N10 ever since the start of this year and i have no complaints thus far (besides the weaker sound output than my N1 i.e. the bass isn't as strong both r 5mW models btw)...but if ur in the market for a new unit try looking at the new Sharp range...they look promising...
-
most of the time you just undock and redock the N1 into its cradle and all is good... must be a software bug of some sort that sony forgot to address...if it doesn't get recognised at all (i.e. that little chime when you plug it in) then something isn't wrong...could be the cable connection or otherwise...but make sure all the connections are good and there shouldn't be a problem...

hey there, well the Sharp models are very easy to use when recording and give great sound...their features are easy to use and practical when recording...it's a good choice to use a sharp for recording since they can adjust recording levels on the fly (unlike the sony units)... a good mic is also quite important as well...depending on how portable you want it to be i suggest that you shop around and try them out before buying...for me i personally like to use cardiods to record since they are stereo and record basically what is in front and 90 degrees either side of the mic...the omni directionals are ok but they pick up a lot of ambient noise from behind the source as well so IMO i think that's not a good thing...i also feel a little weary about second hand and i buy everything of mine brand new... the DR7 isn't losing out over the new DR400 since they basically both utilise the same 1-bit amp and they're both Sharps...the new unit just has NetMD feature which is good if you have a lot of mp3's that you want to download to ur unit....otherwise it's useless...i would say stick with the DR7 since it has a nice LCD screen for you to monitor your recording levels plus by now the price would've dropped so it makes it a very good buy...

these units do exist but they are very hard to track down because Sony didn't make many of them...but i think in Japan they may still sell them...u could ask our fellow member Leland to verify this since he's stationed in Japan...
-
this is just a guess but maybe lens just mistracks on that part of the MD because it's been damaged somehow??? not too sure...
-
firstly hook ur unit up to your PC via the USB link and then use sonicstage to delete your songs...this is the way to erase music on ur MD if you transfered it using NetMD and do not have an old skool non-NetMD recorder to erase the tracks on....
-
the remotes on those models (with the radio) are not sold seperately...only the high end remotes (with backlight) used in the flagship models are sold as accessories....
-
well the thing is that the TOC on the MD can hold so many characters for titles...(i can't remember the exact amount atm) and it doesn't rely on the space left on the MD at all...so if you are getting this error msg then i suggest u make ur track/disc titles shorter to fit all of them in...sUx0rs i kno but this is the way it is...
-
have you tried to open up the unit without an MD inside and see if it can open up fully with the one touch eject mechanism???
-
i would have to agree with NRen2k5 with this one...it can't be done and i don't know where or how that guy did it but from my experiences with both my N1 and N10 what u mentioned above does NOT happen....
-
well so long as the unit itself has a remote interface i would say a cautious yes....because if you hack the n505 and use the 11EL remote it utilises more or less all of the functions on that MD i think...or was that the n707??? not to sure sorry...
-
heya just recapping wot kurisu just said above...SP is encoded in ATRAC format, LP is recorded in ATRAC3 format...
-
i would set the recording level on the unit to half or even lower but on the high mic sensitivity if recording from an unpowered mic input...
-
um no the english unit cannot read kanji no matter what remote u use...the japanese domestic and international models differ in that the japanese one has native kanji support whereas the international ones do not...
-
yeh??? nice choice...that unit looks awesome...nice power output as well 4 the headphones...oh well tell me how that unit goes if possible...i'm interested in how it performs as compared with say an ipod...
-
yep unfortunately i've encountered this problem and then found out a few days later that my recording head stopped working (or is out of alignment...i won't know which until i get it back from sony)...
-
that's the problem with these new NetMD units...once the song is transfered you can't do much else except move the song sequence around and edit the titles....other than that you more or less can't do much else...but i heard that a fellow poster said in one of the other threads i replied to that you can erase a whole MD with a non-NetMD recorder...not too sure about this because i've never tried it...
