  1. np, i would have been able to help u more if i could get my hands on one of these newer Sharp units but no one seems to have one in my circle of friends as most of them use Sony... :? otherwise i wish best of luck with the new MD that u decide 2 buy and hopefully a lot of satisfaction will come about by buying it...
  2. it could be a lens misallignment...because my N1 is in for repairs atm after finding out that it does exactly what you described...and if ur unit is still under warranty, i'd suggest u get it checked out to see if that's the problem...
  3. not too sure what you mean by if they can be used with sony's md...did u mean the md discs or the software??? software wise i think it can just so long as you hav a driver that openmg/sonicstage can recognise...and i'm not too sure about the software included...i think it would be something similar to BeatJam...
  4. i agree with Bazirker above...i've been using Nero ever since it's come out and i hav had no complaints about it...very easy to use and a powerful piece of software if you know how to muck around with the settings...would recommend that ppl take a look at this one...
  5. adding on to wot KJ_Palmer said above, analogue cables are susceptable to interferences since it uses a copper cable (of some sort - though usually very well shielded on the best cables) whereas digital uses fibre optics which are not susceptable to any type of interferences...
  6. you could record from their analogue connections or, if your passing it thru an amp, thru its digital connection...
  7. i think u can d/l it from their website...not too sure tho...it could only be an update...but if you own a creative card this will come with the cd that shipped with the card...
  8. oh yeh oops...my mistake the powered mic can be inputted in the LINE IN of that recorder...bah i think i was half asleep when i typed that out....sorry... there are quite a few small sony powered mics designed for portability so i suggest u pop down to a local store who stock up on sony parts and take a look (try taking a look at the ECMT145 or the ECMZS90 mics from sony) i do agree with you that sharp units do seem ever increasingly quite popular due to the mic input on even the cheapest of their models (if i can recall correctly i.e.) and i am sure you can import one in from japan from an internet site such as (url=www.japan-direct.com)Japan Direct(/url)...these ppl r very reliable and also carry a warranty (but you have to ship the unit back to them if this happens)...
  9. usualli it's bugging coding...dunno how or why but it tends to do this from time to time...best bet is to re-install the software and drivers again and test it out...
  10. not too sure on how to fix the problem, check the other post u made on a suggestion that i've made regarding this topic...
  11. beh i don't mind...i own units from both companies and i'm pretty happy with both...i'd say they're on par with each other more or less...

    program to netmd!!

    <from above> ok ok...*correction* heaps = 3...
  13. a powered mic will work only if u connect it to ur unit's LINE IN (red one)...OPTIC IN (white one) is reserved for that of digital recordings via TosLink cable...the ECM-MS907 will work on ur unit's LINE IN (red jack) and not the OPTIC IN (white jack)...
  14. did u try re-installing the drivers and the software itself??
  15. i would say so...this is how i do it...i use either soundforge, audition or just the creative recorder to record in wav files from MD -> PC

    program to netmd!!

yup there are heaps...there's SonicStage and Simple Burner from Sony corp, and also the free RealOne Player from Real Networks...
  17. wot i mean by "restrictive" is that the software will only allow you to transfer a song over to MD 3 times max (though this can be by-passed quite easily) so it's not my main concern...there are tales of many users having unstable versions of the NetMD transfer software such as SonicStage/OpenMG...but wot i am complaining about is the fact we cannot upload song that we have recorded on the MD through other means than that of PC->MD transfer, faster than realtime... yes the only options to transfer to MD thru these programs are only LP2/4...SP is just a higher bitrate ATRAC track in these programs plus not much faster than real-time so i tend to avoid it... yes LP2 does sound like a 192kbps mp3 track...kinda...and it is good to have higher quality mp3's to encode into LP2 before transfering across... yep that's basically it just connect either an optic or analogue cable from the output on ur PC's s/c and in2 the inputs on the MD unit...u can use winamp or using a different program such as mp32md to transfer the songs across since they add a pause inbetween tracks and when the MD picks that up it auto adds a trackmark...and the SB Live isn't a "shitty" s/c...it works relatively well tho mayb not up to the std of the newer cards, it still can hold its own... well the LCD display in the remote just shows the basic info such as track/disc title, elapsed/remain time, mode of recording etc etc...but i tend to use it to just monitor the elapsed track time and just glance at my unit occasionally to monitor the levels...if you want to monitor the levels you need the actual LCD on the unit itself...the remote is handy so u can stop/pause the recording without having to touch the recorder... not too sure about this one...but if someone does i'm sure they'll post something up here...
  18. i agree with Bazirker...since x-rays are classified as emr it does induce a magnetic field but md's use MO technology which need both heat and magnetism to change the data stored on them...x-rays cannot induce heat so much that it's able to heat the md up to it's curie pt (from what i've seen so far) ...
  19. yup...u can u/l to ur computer but by using analogue cables... see this thread for more details...
  20. yup...u can u/l to ur computer but by using analogue cables... see this thread for more details...
  21. not 100% sure but it works on the N710 unit fine...this i've tested already...not too sure on the N510 though...

    N10 or N1 or N910

um most legit (and reliable resellers) that i've seen so far carry warranty so if the unit does happen to screw up then you just send it back to them and they'll ship you a replacement...
  23. yeh so i've seen so far...i think i get what you mean now...they'll be releasing a replacement model for the R series soon and not the N series as yet...my mistake
  24. from looking at that site i would say that either the 33EL or 35ELK will work on the N510 unit you have...but the 35ELK is useless if you bought ur unit outside of japan as it does not have kanji support so the feature on this remote is useless...so the 33EL will do...

    N10 or N1 or N910

fair enough...Sharp units have really nice sound (esp. units utilising the 1-bit amp)...Sony is so-so IMO...my N1 has E888's attached to it and they sound good...the N10 has the EX71's attached to them...my Sharp DS8 has the stock headphones attached to them and they more or less match the Sony's with the upgraded earbuds...dunno if they beat them but i'd say it matches up to it quite well...
