  1. yup u have to use the mini jack to transfer...and the quality aint too bad actually...there is another option but not viable using the N10 since it doesn't have an optic output...
  2. try here...this site should work...
  3. no u can't...when u'v transfered the track across the song is protected and you can't do anything to it except move it and title it...
  4. yep this would be fine...i've seen my friends use it on their unit without any problems and i use them in my AA add on case for my N1/N10 units as well...
  5. ah bugger... :? ok sorry bout that, i hav noo idea then...
  6. if u mean that the symbol next to the song still remains as 2 then it wouldn't matter since for some reason that doesn't get updated when you delete the songs from the optimised files directory...that "count" should be disregarded since you do have 3 check-outs still remaining...
  7. yeh same here...but i usually use the remote rather than the d-pad on the unit so there's not that much of a problem for me...
  8. find the optimised files folder on your computer (if you don't know where to find it follow these steps below) u can simply check the directory that it stores it in by selecting the Tools Menu (in OpenMG) then to the CD Recording/Playing 1 tab...from there you will see a box 1/2 way down under the option Settings for CD Recording...that's basically the location of where the program stores the optimised files...copy and paste the directory to windows explorer and then it should open up that folder...within it should be another folder called Optimized Files...open that up and you will find all the ATRAC files located there...delete them as u wish... this would get rid of all the check-in/check-out info and reset the count back to 3 plus also frees up your harddrive space...but you have to re-encode the mp3 files again...
  9. ooh bugger...hmm...sorry, i have noo idea then...could be that the unit just mucked around with the TOC and erased the data that recognises that the disc isn't empty or something...not too sure...
  10. not too sure on that but i would say a cautious no since i'm not 100% sure on this one...i doubt that sony would allow someone the opportunity to muck around wif how the MD's do a TOC edit...
  11. bah sorry that was me above...forgot to log-in...=/
  12. N10 has a theoretical transfer speed of 64x but this is at LP4...i would'n suggest that you transfer tracks via NetMD interface in SP since it is not "true" SP but rather a higher bitrate LP2 encoded file...SP can only be recorded via "old skool" methods (i.e. real time through either digital or analogue inputs)...and yes OpenMG Jukebox will work with the N10 since i've gotten my N10 to work with all the NetMD programs...
  13. well i don't only just buy the sony kit usually i buy basically anything that is good at the time...but for digital i bought sony because there wasn't any other good competing models when i bought them..well they did make a digital video camera using MD i think a while back? not too sure but i think i've seen it somewhere...but Sony cabling works on Sony cameras since they all have the same output on the unit...other camera brands use different plugs than sony so they don't fit...but otherwise all of the cabling from sony basically work with any other sony product from my experience...
  14. could be that the unit the TOC or that when it did a TOC update something went wrong in the process and the data inputted was for an empty disc (very rare) or that the unit didn't read the TOC properly...but this happened to me once i just ejected the disc waited a while and put it back in and everything was fine again...not too sure if this is the case for you though...
  15. no i wouldn't think so...there isn't much of a change in normal ATRAC decoding for playback between old and new... yep should work without any problems...whether old or new they haven't changed how the data is transfered through optic out...
  16. np, i'm glad to help...oops i forgot that site had a md cover design program... sorry bout that but it seems that you've found it by urself...
  17. the choice is ultimately up to you...there are pros and cons for both media and which one that i would suggest would depend on your needs...i own both and ipod and md units plus various other flash card based mp3 players and i still stick to md since of its flexibility and recording features...it suits my needs so i still use MD...the hdd based mp3 player would be good for archiving most of your music because of the size and it also comes with the problems that plague harddrives as well...(i.e. all hard drives will eventually fail)...so if you want something that is good for storing huge amount of songs on a portable medium then you can't go wrong with a hard drive based player but also you can't really "swap" music with your friends if say they have a song on their hdd based player that you want...u need a computer to do this unlike MD's (which is good for me since a lot of ppl i kno use MD's)...but it's not like an LP2 recorded MD doesn't hold more than enough for the trip on public transport every day...
  18. i'm not too sure on this but i think that there would be a limit on the number of groups able to be put on the MD but how much i'm not too sure of...
  19. well if you want to be creative then i suggest u use a combination of programs to get this done...i use photoshop and a dtp like say ms publisher or adobe indesign (can't remember the name of the dtp from adobe?) alternatively if you want to make simple ones you can check here...
  20. this shouldn't be a problem, my friend uses the NH14WM rather than the NH10WM on his n710 unit...but i think they opted to use the lower capacity battery to keep the costs down??? not too sure why they did this...and regarding the battery being screwed up after 2 years, it could've been the charger itself or as u said the charging curcuit not supplying enough or supplying more than enough power to the battery to damage it...just make sure that the charger that came with the n710 matches the specs needed to charge the NH14WM battery...
  21. well i've tried this and it works...the cable on my sony digital still camera (DSC-P5), digital video camera (DCRPC101) and on that came with my unit (N1) work perfectly whether it uses either one on eht cradle or on the digital camera...so if you bought anything else from sony and it comes with USB cable (provided they got the same plug) then it should work no prob...
  22. np...glad 2 help, feel free to ask me any other questions you might have and i'll try my best to answer them...
  23. i agree with sudden...it's best that you try out a few discs first to figure out which are reliable...i myself usually use either prisms or ES MD's when i record live since these are worth the extra cost plus knowing that the MD will be hard to screw up (i.e. has lots of skips in it) is also another plus and justifies the price tag...but all discs can go wrong even the best ones... :?
  24. well the only way to actually know exactly is either to check the ID3 tag (which sometimes isn't all that reliable) or even better is to try and transfer it with SonicStage...if it doesn't transfer then you may have a protected track...fortunately there is a way around this...i usually play the song with say winamp and then record the song playing as a wav file...this gets rid of most copyright issues with it not being able to transfer...but usually sonicstage isn't overly fussy about copyright mp3's...i have a few that transfer across without any problems...alternatively if they're really fussy then you can also try the Nero/SimpleBurner method posted here... these are usually fine...they can be transfered over without any problems most of the time...
  25. Sony units also have this feature as well under Mic Sens option in the menu...
