  1. Pretty much the same - although if you can be bothered, I have a link to a site somewhere on tis board - it basically says that harming the battery is pretty hard, and don't go nuts over it. Which is unlike what some people here did in the early days of this board.
  2. Then I guess I'd better not tell you that the only way of uploading is real-time recording.

    Headphones

Sort cord, eh? The only ones I know of about that price, are the Sony D22s from www.audiocubes.com Very few headphones have sort cord.
  4. Please refrain from multiple posting, if you will.
  5. I've got the PC link to work in XP. Have you gone into: Control panel ---> Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices ---> Sounds and Audio Devices ---> Audio (tab) and then set the USB audio device as the default playback device? If that doesn't work, all you need is a male-male 3.5mm stereo cable. Plug one end into your soundcard, the other into your R700.
  6. Not in Singapore, but they are around $100AUD. Might give you some sort of idea.
  7. Peter, can you please post your problem once, and once only.
  8. Nothing can do that via USB or 1394, however you can purchase some decks with optical or coaxial out, and record to PC that way - JE770, JE780, JB940, JB980 all by Sony. If you want a balanced line out, look at Sony's pro decks, the E10 and E12 - I believe they have that feature.
  9. Dude! The DR7 is gorgeous! So far, I don't think anyone has made an MD so repulsive that I won't buy it. But hey, at least MD ain't like MP3 - all "style" and no substance.

    Sharp MD-MT200

You can do both. If you just record the entire stream, you just go back afterwards and pick a point where you want to add a trackmark, the press the "edit" button (or similar) and choose "divide". If you are digitally dubbing from a CD, then it auto trackmarks for you, and if the CD/source has long enough gaps between tracks, then it will trackmark in analogue too. You can, if you want, pause the recording by pressing "pause" after a track has been recorded, the push play to start another recording - this give you trackmarks too. Don't worry about it - it is easy-peasy-coz-it's-Japanesy. Simple as.
  11. Black looks great physically - and silver is just damn boring, everyone has silver.
  12. If it is still acting up since you had it repaired it might be time to junk it - if you can afford to get it fixed well and good since the S38 is a funky deck, but I would think you'll be very happy with a newer deck, and all the nice new features that come with it.
  13. Yes really. All that maxing out treble and bass do is is make the song louder and can add nice distortions to your recordings. You mess around with the EQ for playback, not recording, and setting both to full doesn't do much for your music anyway.
  14. Try turing bass and treble to "0" - you're not ment to record with a tweaked EQ!!
  15. I should be getting one when I get me first car.
  16. I am indeed enjoying the mad season. There is cricket on telly, friends playing cricket outside, and I just bought me a new cricket bat - $450 down to $180. Damn I love the end of season sales.

    PC>HIFI>MD

Ah, this should be easily fixed by buying the right optical cord - the one you currently have is for portables. You'll need a square to square optic cable, and all should be good.
  18. You'll find that SCMS is REQUIRED on all home digital recording equipment. Deadset dude, iPod is a fine MP3 player, but lacks the features to compare with MD.
  19. Depending on condition and age, around $300-$500, I'd say.
  20. With some of the Sharp cradles, they discharged the battery before recharging it.
  21. The resistor is to stop the LED from over-drawing from the coax jack. I've no idea if it tracmarks, this comes straight from another guy who has used it and it work. I'd assume it would.
