  1. The site is the real deal, it has been done by others with success. Bear in mind this page was up before MDLP.
  2. I very much doubt anything is wrong - it happens to all of my friends. Either that or one whole track.
  3. doc, you have no problems - that is perfectly normal. The cut off part is due to the slight lag between the recorder sensing the silence and stopping recording, and recieving the signal again and starting recording. The only way around it would to record the whole play list as one track, and manually add trackmarks later.
  4. That could fit right in with either "find your minidisc" or even "reader's topics". I reckon it's fine.
  5. Guest, are these your first recordings, ie have you just recently bought the R50? That aside, it sounds like a problem with the recording head - costly to repair, but the R50 is a stellar unit and if you can afford to get it repaired, do so.
  6. Nah, my brain was wired at the time. No biggie.

    Froogle

Heeeeey, this is an interesting page. Nice find.
  8. Leland is spot on - I asked the question months ago in physics and got a similar answer, albeit more technical. I cannot remember the specifics, but it is also safe to use a higher rated power brick. I've used a 900mAh adapter and all is good. 500mAh is "nominal" power supply.
  9. That's the idea! - I think my Aiwa has lasted forever, but when I think back, I only charged it a week ago. I suppose I could have saved a few lines by just typing that...:? Nevermind, let's see what you get Lustral.

    where to find !

dark, if you read the first post, you'll notice that manuch's orignal remote broke...
  11. Deadset, eh? The only units that comes close to playing for 60 hours in LP4 on the gumstick are the E710, DS8 and my HX400. Even then you'd be doing well to get 40-50 hours out of them. I am sure enough to say that it is impossible for the E900 to achieve that amount of playback time being used for 2 hours a day until you recharge it. Sony gets the 37 hours figure by testing it in a controlled environment - continous playback with volume set at "0" on a flat, stable surface. Now, lets think about this - you are walking to work. All the while the disc is constantly spinning thanks to G-Protection, you are no doubt listening to the music, so volume would hardly be at "0" and no doubt you'd be skipping some tracks now and then. All this would suck battery juice like there is no tomorrow, reducing battery life by a considerable degree. If Sony could somehow extract 60 hours of play on just the gumstick then you could bet your bottom dollar that they would have quoted that, and not 37 hours. There is no way, that when I used to listen to my LP2 disc for about two hours a day, with powersave on, and having my HX400 on a flat, stable surface that I got anywhere near 60 hours. Any other E900 users want to prove me wrong?

    No More Record :-(

Sounds like you have ripped off the recording head, and I doubt that it could be repaired without calling in a pro - which will cost you quite a bit. Might be time to look at some new units. :?
  13. No problems here - even with El Cheapo $30AUD ones. If you're really tight, a resistor and a LED is all you need to convert coax to optical.
  14. It's also impossible in LP4, too. 37 is the quoted Sony figure.

    MZ-R37

All you need is a 3.5mm to 3.5mm male-male stereo cable. Connect one end to your R37's line out and the other to the iMac's line in. You'll also need some kind of recording software. From an R37 there is no way to upload digitally, or at high speed.
  16. Some mid and all high-end PCDPs from the big brands have optical out - the equipment browser at a minidisc site ain't the best place to look for portable CD players.
  17. If we're talkin' discs, don't worry - they all sound the same.

    where to find !

Try ebay or ask Francis at www.minidisc.hk.st - he might be able to get hold of one for you. If you can't find an original remote, then the RM-MC11EL should work.
  19. The buttons have become cross-mapped and I really doubt that service mode would be of any use. Repair time, me thinks.

    Looking For:

If you are not afraid to order online, have a look at the Aiwa AM-HX400. Exceptional all-round package for cheap, and probably the easiest to use backlit remote around. Try www.minidisco.com or www.hyperjack.net or Francis Tung(?) in Hong Kong - but his site escapes me. He is usually the cheapest too by far.
  21. Work here too, and some smart investing.
  22. I take it that because you posted in the other thread, you are recording from the PC? This seems like an unfortunate trait of Sony units - they are far too sensitive, and I know of no remedy... :?
  23. A Yamaha deck on Minidisc-T had the same problem - I'll see what I can come up with.
