As most of you may or may not know, there is a rather annoying issue with the US version of the MZ-RH10: [thanks for the photo, b_k_d] As you can see, there are quite a few letters missing. Mentioned throughout the forums, this issue has been quite the annoyance with no reassurance from Sony..until now. Straight from my contact within Sony: An interesting move by Sony - I have inquired to see if there is an upgrade in store for other much more important problems, such as the recent MP3 woes that have been mentioned in the Hi-MD forum. Regardless, is this a stronger signal that Sony's portable audio division is paying more attention to the consumers? I will update this post accordingly by the end of this week with the proper address that you may send it to for repair.

Welcome to the forums. I have fixed your posting error by making the images attachments instead. Please read up in the help documentation to learn mroe about how to use the attachment feature instead of directly hotlinking 1 mb images - some people still have dialup.

From what I've read I'd have to say that the longevity of an optical disk is difficult to test. It could be anywhere from a few years to a hundred. It all varies according to materials and techniques used to create media and the environment in which they are stored. I would say data degradation would occur after 10 years. A good solution would be to keep a disk for about four to five years in a stable enviroment and then make a copy of that disc onto another. By the time you're on year 10 [or your second disc] we'll have digressed into inane capacities, rendering this storage option obsolete.

Welcome to the forums, friend. Please uninstall everything related to OpenMG and install Sonicstage 3.1 from connect.com. We no longer support OpenMG softwares here.

Very nice review, adrian - your words have a very personal touch to them and stray from the usual monotonious reviews of audio equipment that litter the 'net. I feel like I'm slipping into an old pair of shoes upon reading your compositions, when you're troubled to make them. I sure would like to try out some AT phones someday, but good lord this series seem like something out of Star Wars on your head. I know I've truly accomplished something in my time here as Administrator if I can get an Aussie such as yourself to do a full review and pictorial. *beams*

Wow, what an amazing duo in concert that will be - I will most certainly download those recordings. Your taste in music is frickin' great!

Unfortunately I cannot determine how many people have signed up for just the downloads section, but it's obvious that the downloads section has increased the number of registrations by quite a bit (if you were here when I first started administrating, then you will realize how big the difference has become). As for the total number of downloads, the number is 4757, but will probably be over 5000 by the time you read this. -
Don't forget to upload some of the best tracks to the gallery!

Please post your system specs and Sonicstage version according to the rules.
-
You should install Sonicstage 3.1 from connect.com.
-
What have you installed recently before it stopped working? Also, have you searched? This has come up before.
-
That's a shame. What's your system specs?
-
Welcome, tenpinmark! Works wonderfully on my machine. Before we can really diagnosis your problems, please post your system specs according to the rules.

Regular MD is going to fade, but Hi-MD still has quite a few years left.
-
Uhm, if it's being played online, can't you just capture the streaming audio?
-
Welcome Derrick - unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. The last Hi-MD model to have a radio tuner is in fact the NHF800, so for this functionality you'll have to had purchase that unit.

You should record it and make like a podcasting thing on your website. Hey, we should do a podcast together, somehow for this site! Yes..
-
How did it go? You doing it again?

Very nice - thanks for the note Ishii. I'm glad that we're growing so quickly, but I have no doubts that the downloads section is fueling this heavily.. -
Thank you for your comments. We have decided to keep the original page layout for now and go with some tight scripts that integrated the news forums with the news portion of minidisc.org for greater posting ability. Anyway, the Wiki part I mentioned is something I'm working on now. It should be a reality sometime this summer. I will make threads about it when I feel it's semi-mature to present.

Great first post L7R! Welcome to the forums. You do raise a good theory I will admit - focusing on a lesser amount of models instead of multiple units would be possibly ideal. I think that with so many variations it becomes a little more confusing for the average folk - but then again it's nice to have something to choose from in differing budget situations. With so many MD units made in the past, it'd be a strange world if there were less MD units released each year.
