Wow, what a rare bird, a true blast from the past -- the first ever car MD unit. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDX-U1.html

Haha Syrius. todds, great first post! (I wish all newbies were like you) I think that we all have associations with particular devices as we delve further into a more technological age. There is an extreme amount of diversity in the market, and it can be damned near impossible to find something that will make you truly content. I won't fib -- I haven't used Minidisc in quite a while since I got my NW-HD3. However, for the final assignment in my recent Humanities class, I had to interview a leader of faith within their house of worship -- needless to say my trusty NH900 was the first thing on my mind. The recording went really well (especially thanks to greenmachine's nice mics) and it was a comfortable experience. I got a great grade on the paper and finished the class with a 97%. The catalyst to the success of the composition was the multimedia experience I created by attaching the rich recordings made with MD. There really is a small learning curve with MD if you have half a brain in your noggin, and that really appeals to people and brings them back after long periods of distraction. I'll never sell all of my MD units, because I've seen too many of these topics to realize that it'd be something I'd eventually regret.

Low volume with Sony Hi-MD MZ-NH1 Please help!
Christopher replied to Vinchenzo's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
That is correct, the NH1 is not Euro-capped, but I do recall some people saying the hack made it "sound better". I think it was purely psychological, however. -
Low volume with Sony Hi-MD MZ-NH1 Please help!
Christopher replied to Vinchenzo's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Welcome -- in addendum to KJ's questions, what codecs are you using? What is the source of your music files? -
How many (Hi)MD units do you currently have?
Christopher replied to greenmachine's topic in The Loft
4 - Sony MZ-NH900 [Japan Edition], Sharp MD-DS8, Sharp SD-NX10, Sony MZ-E7W -
Wow, that's quite a shame. Did you try it with a MD disc or a Hi-MD disc?
-
My apologies, I forgot to toggle the option that disallows me from doing so. It will not occur again.
-
Hrm, I have it set as 15 minutes -- I'm not sure what to say.

Either. I can add more specific feeds if the community wants. Just suggest..

You can post them in either the Gallery (and link them manually) or utilize the Attachment feature.

Hi-MD still has alot of opportunity in the home deck and automobile areas, but they have failed to truly cater to it. This is good, thank you for your contributon. If you could provide pictures of this I'd definitely move it to the Product Reviews forum.

The New Version of NH1/NH900 will support Mp3 like rh10

I agree. -
I agree, very tough to resist this gem.

Definitely a Sharp unit with a 1-bit digital amp, such as the DS8 or DS70. There are also really interesting units such as the MZ-E7W or -E606W (has wireless functionality). I would also prescribe a Kenwood player-only unit, such as the new DMC-V55 -- I bet that thing sounds incredible.

What?! "Not the right place for them" -- was that the actual justification? That's really crazy, indeego. Maybe they didn't have the budget from all the cost-cutting they've been doing recently. Sorry to hear that though, I'm sure you were looking forward to it.

Try a new battery? Was the unit purchased second hand or..? You must realize that this is an absolute bargain bin unit and doesn't have the functionality found in the mid and higher end models. Perhaps you should consider a Hi-MD unit, even the NH600 would have functionality far beyond what you've got now.

What version of Hi-MD renderer are you using?

Upgrading from Hi-MD: Portable DVD players for audio.
Christopher replied to Deanage's topic in Minidisc
This is off topic, but those problems can most likely be fixed PCManiac. Please make a topic in our Software support forum. -
Welcome, exedore. He's definitely talking about the NH700, as Minidisc Australia doesn't have any second generation units. What's your maximum budget, exedore?

I'm at work, so I can't check it out but I will when I get home. Those Africa images you spoke of NH1, are they the ones that basically let you see about 100ish feet above the people and mud houses? It really is an view for sure. I love using Google Earth in DirectX mode with Anisotropic Filtering all the way up -- the textures are super crisp and it looks very nice.
