  1. Good to hear/read, and at a great price for a mint unit.
  2. Another smooth transaction with Pasta...
  3. physically a clone but the Buffalo was the first hi-md unit to be able to download and play files in MP3 format.
  4. Rinkya is one, shoppingmalljapan is another, there are probably more.
  5. First, lets turn on the English display of your remote... push in the wheel for a second or so and then follow the kanji below... 1) Select: 各種設定 / Option (the lower line) 2) Select: 表示言語 / Language (eighth selection down, from the top) 3) Select: 英語表示 / English (top line) next, for turning off the beep.... go back to standard screen on the remote and push in wheel, like above... select 'option' select 'beep' (third from top) select 'off'
  6. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/wmm_lite heres a link for it...
  7. I just brought the w52s home to upgrade my w42s. For the phone to be read as a drive/external device, you have to install the file for USB cable from here. This will allow the phone to be detected as an external device. If you want to store music on the built-in memory, you need to download the AU Music Port/Lismo. In that software is the driver software that will allow you to use the phone for music storage. The internal memory can only store Lismo music files...not Sonicstage files. You can put a 2gb micro-card in the phone but Sonicstage music files will only work with the Sony M2 card. Fanboy...are you transferring atrac files to your 903 on an English version of Vista? Now, I'll find out if the 52 has improved over the 42 by allowing atrac3+ files to be used instead of the ol' atrac netmd files that max out at 132kbps. (edit) hot dang...the w52s plays atrac352 and all other atrac 3+ bitrates. Too bad the Sony card is only available in 1gb size but that will change soon enough. Darth, make sure your version of au music port is 3.1; 3.2 is for Vista. I'm walkin' on sunshine with this 352 bitrate...
  8. Until Sei-Mart gets a steady line on stale chips and dust-coated packs of Matt Dillon trading cards, I'll stick with Daiso.
  9. There are 31 days in December so add 24 hours to your countdown. WalMart has quietly been here since early 2001/2002 when they bought a 35-40% share in Seiyu. I remember Seiyu trying to use that bouncing/smiling yellow thing of Walmart in their ads but they stopped in 2005 when it wasn't producing results.
  10. Starting in mid-2008, Americans can bid on products offered on Japan's Yahoo Auctions...story here.
  11. Go to Google language tools and insert the page you want translated into the webpage option box. The translation won't be of native-speaker fluency but it is enough to be understood.
  12. G, I was just wondering about you yesterday as I slipped a Maxell monotone into my player. Last I recall you were down in Oz. On topic; I remember discussion of a lower-end model being thrown around but forgot about it as it was never released. Since it was never released, I doubt it ever reached the production stage...don't think Sony would produce a model line and then not put it out. As MD/Hi-MD has been replaced by Sony with flash-recorders, I would assume they thought a lower-end would stunt the sales of their high-end model the RH1.
  13. Yep, that did it, thanks Rich. Must have browsed over it in the download section. (edit) yep, it is the first one there...went right over it....
  14. Finally plugged in a ds-hmd1 into a computer running Vista OS with SS 4.3 installed and Windows goes off searching for drivers but never finds them. Any suggestions where to tell it to look? Any other hmd1 users dealt with this yet? Have tried both US and Asia-Pacific downloads and neither will recognize the hmd1. Both versions will work with the rh10.
  15. Nope, same ports for the remote...in my case, the 40elk but both players came with the 38el. (edit) I see what you are saying...I grabbed the nearest remote at hand which was a Kenwood remote hence the different configuration. Also, if you look closely at the adapter plug, it has three lines representing the 4-pole design...Kenny's were rebadged Sharps.
  16. Sent some discs his way. Emails were friendly and succinct and transaction was smooth.
  17. Check with member umwoofwoof, he takes decks apart and fixes stuff...the guy has forgotten more about md decks than most of us will know. Do a search for him then send a PM.
  18. The top two pictures are the back of the eh50 and the bottom two pictures are the back of the eh70. Other players have buttons the same size as the "menu/enter" button on the r410 listed on your member page. I agree with Wiz, that a deck would be the best choice for what you are after.
  19. The largest buttons on recent players, say the past five years, are on the eh50 and eh70 hi-md players which also playback legacy. I'll post some photos when I get home from work of the buttons on these units and of buttons from some others so you can see what you will be dealing with.
  20. Another transaction with Richyu. As always, a smooth deal...great communication and easy to work with.
  21. Since the 35 is an "ELK" and the 40 is also, I think alot of us expected the 38 to be kanji "K" capable, too....
  22. You must have a smudge on that 38el and are assuming it is a "k". To turn off kanji on the 40elk... 1) Select: 各種設定 / Option 2) Select: 表示言語 / Language 3) Select: 日本語 or English
  23. You can check all your options on the menu in less time than it takes to find someone to read kanji...heres how to access the language option of the remote... 1) Select: 各種設定 / Option 2) Select: 表示言語 / Language 3) Select: 日本語 or English
  24. The availability of minidisc blanks is petering out over here. Stores such as Yodobashi, Bic, Ishimaru, etc...that dedicated shelves to discs are now dedicating a shelf to the medium. Axia got out the disc market nearly two years ago, and both Victor and Sony haven't released any new sets in two years. TDK, which use to release new sets three times a year hasn't had a release since summer of 2006 with the WA series. Maxell hasn't released anything after the metal shuttered Twinkles, plains, and Coulers which came out the same month as the TDK WA's. I think we will be stuck with only Saehan products and maybe Daiso products from now on. I like the Daiso stuff but Saehan doesn't satisfy...
  25. Yep, thats it...don't remember the pattern name, just that it was on Corningware...
