If I were stuck with a choice between the 2, I'd opt for the NH900. The NH700 is uber plasticky, sure as hell ain't worth the AUD499 it's being sold for.

AL = WAV (PCM). That's the whole point, it's lossless so it's supposed to be bit-for-bit identical when uncompressed.

The Sonata is a better case. 120mm fans make a world of difference in airflow and sound levels.

I have quite a lot of apps on that list and I haven't had much of a problem. Office, WC3, Kazaa, etc. all work fine. NOD32 doesn't seem to be recognised by XP as an anti-viral app but it's doing it's job fine as well.

You can then scrap the 430W truepower and save a few bucks there. If you already bought the case above, remove the side fan or run it at a really low RPM. Having a fan force air down on your CPU HSF will create air turbulence and give you extra wear + tear on your fan bearings, cause more noise and possibly give you negative effects with your airflow.

Minidisco isn't a Sony rep, they're merely quoting what they've heard. On the other hand, Sony has made a gazillion promises with Hi-MD and only a handful of them have come true. I wouldn't hold my breath and call it a 'fact' just yet, it's a lot wiser to just play 'wait and see' since Sony has a reputation for crying wolf.

The only thing left are the patches, so SP2's 'new' features does nothing for me. The equalizer does change the bass and treble. Low frequencies = bass, high freqs = treble. Both do the same job, just that the equalizer does it with more tweaking flexibility, but I'll agree that units with the 8 step bass + treble settings sound better than those with EQs in general. BTW, Type-S = decoding DSP, has nothing to do with equalizers.

Hmm. They can tweak EU N10s to 2+2mW, so I wouldn't be too sure about that. Mine's from a local Sony retailer, one of the first AU batches which came in sometime around March last year. It sounds terrible, which is why I ended up getting a DS8 about 2 months later.

You know what? I'm really curious to compare my N10 with yours. Your observations are similar to mine, but the differences between both were in fact quite large. Have you by any chance obtained a 'specially tweaked' review version of the N10? :rasp:
