WAV and ATRAC PCM are exactly the same, the latter being encrypted. WAV should be an exact (though big) match of the original Atrac recording. Again, please tell use which bitrate are you using for recording, and what do you plan on doing once you upload them to your computer.

Aye, aye, aye. I hope you didn't try to modify those files from your HI-MD. Okay, here we go. Contrary to popular belief, or misprinted manuals, Hi-MD is not drag and drop when it comes to music files that can be played on your unit. The music tracks will not show up in winblows explorer, and those files in the first window you posted, are internal files required for the Hi-MD to function the way it does. Don't touch them, as they have encryption keys in them, and messing them up may render your files inaccessible. Now, before you think Hi-MD is crappy, etc... this is how you do it. Connect your Hi-MD to your system and fire up Sonicstage. If the tracks are not in your library, import them from the Hi-MD by selecting your tracks and using the arrow that points left, in the transfer screen. Your tracks should be in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\Packages\HI-MD folder. (I recommend you make a shortcut to this folder, for future use. From there you can drag and drop to a MS Walkman. Here's the tricky part. The tracks as they are, are still encoded with DRM, so if you drag them and drop them to a CDRW or something similar, you WILL NOT be able to play them on another computer, so we need to perform the following ritual to remove the curse of Sony Music Entertainment. Ahem... After you import/upload/transfer the files into your library in SS, highlight the ones you want to remove the DRM from. Right click on either of the highlighted files, and select convert format, and select the same bitrate as they were originally recorded, and make sure that "add copy protection" is unchecked. If it gives you a nag screen, just say you accept responsability and stuff. Wait until it removes the DRM, your unprotected files will be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\Packages\optimized files. Those files you can drag and drop to anywhere, without any restrictions whatsoever. Do not use SS integrated CDBurner unless you want to create an Audio CD from the files in your library. If all you want to do is create a CDRom to move or archive those files, just use your favorite burning software, like Nero or Easy CD Creator. Sorry to leave the easiest option for the last. You can select "Convert to Wav When transferring" from the transfer screen when you upload the files to your system from your Hi-MD, this will give you unprotected Wav files that you can move and make audio CD's from without any restrictions using your favorite burning software, but be warned they take much bigger space than recordings made on Hi-SP, Hi-LP or LP2 format. Once you figure it out, it's waaaaaay more simple than what you see above. Good luck. And please don't touch those HMA files, no matter what. Please tell us what you want to do with your files, so we can give you the right directions on how to do it. Do you want to make an Audio CD, or just burn them to a CD for archival or transfer purposes? It looks to me that you created an ATRAC CD from Sonicstage, and that's why the weird TOC.

How can I play ATRAC files on Windows Media Player 10?
Syrius replied to bobbyashmore's topic in Software
You need to install Sonicstage 3.2 or 4.0, and that will install the necessary codecs so you can use WMP. There are no plugins per se. -
There's no mention of DRM on the quoted article. Relax, guys. Remember the days of the Prohibition, and the chaos that ensued. I don't think the EU is planning on watermarking every single CD in the market, and risk dooming the format forever. Though I think the EU is the antichrist all right.

Anyone with an RH1 should be able to help. Though you know that Ipods are the work of the devil and Apple likes to kill babies in order to restore the old Commie empire, right? (Kidding on that one. Honest!)
-
What's the file extension? If it says it can be transferred to an Ipod, then it's gotta be an MP3, wav, or AAC. Those can be converted into WAV or Windows media lossless and transferred to SS. Or if it's a new unit, it can be transferred as an MP3. Any more info will help us help you.

The biggest threat to HDDVD and BluRay is Joe Consumer who's happy with his standard or upconverting DVD player and plasma screen, and who doesn't want to go buying movies all over again. Upconverting players FTW. (I predict BluRay will become the next DAT, but only because I hate Sony Entertainment.)

Hanson. Oh God. I hope they're not thinking of coming back. Evar.

First, there is no need to check out any music. If you have imported tracks to your library, make sure your player is connected, then look for the "transfer" option. That should allow you to move tracks to your player, without the need to check them in ever.
-
It's good, if a bit too big. It's pretty much CD-quality audio, or a WAV file. If you dont' want compression, that's what you use on your Hi-MD.
-
And who's going to come and check my computer for music to see if it's fairly mine? The FBI? Oh, wait. Some guys in black suits and dark glasses are knocking on the door. Hope it's not the Men In Black. Or the Matrix's Agents.
-
I suggest you use WMA Lossless instead of Atrac-L. SS will take it, and you don't run the risk of having the dreaded license errors in case of a backup or restore.
-
I think that by using Xrost with your credit card, you can then use that as a virtual credit card and then load your AllofMp3 account. That's how I did it a year ago, and still havent' exhausted my 15 dollars, heh heh.

Most of those little adapters will detect the "no copy" flag on the DVD audio, and the MD will refuse to record it. Believe me, I have tried. You can try and rip the tracks off a DVD as WAV with some utilities, though. (Don't know where to find them, so don't ask. )

Dark Swords is a role-playing game of new generation!
Syrius replied to DarkSwords's topic in The Loft
I have a sword of Stupid Spammer L33t Pwnage +3, Knuckles of Idiot Banning, two scrolls of Moron Banishing, and one ring of Mod Summoning. This shall not pass. -
Holy smokes. I'm at a loss. Anyone got a suggestion?
-
Erm, Isn't it just easier to pop the MD into your NetMD or HiMD, then edit the track info using SS? I do that all the time.
-
There is no copy protection (copyright is another thing, dude.) on your original files, so Sonicstage should not complain at all. What format are your original files? You may need to reimport them again. If you want to be on the safe side (meaning, you have converted your files to OMA/OMG format and don't want to lose them, just use the backup tool provided with SS 2.0) What do you mean when you say "they don't work"?
-
I never listen to music at more than half the max level, so I guess I'm safe. I want to die an old man, listening to my HyperMD player, many years down the road. And be buried with it.
-
Please post a pic of the NH700 jack up close, Traveller. That way we can tell for sure.
-
Oh, for crying out loud. People complain about MD not being drag and drop, and now you want a software that does the same as SS, for your Drag and Drop player? WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO! *bangs head on the wall* (Not angry at you, just noting the irony.)
-
I'm pissed off at all these moron guests who make stupid posts hoping that they'll make money off people who click on their crappy spam links. Mods, can't you disable guest posting? They are even hijacking existing threads to post their crap, for crying out loud.

That, and it's not ridden with Micro$oft's DRM crap.
