  1. i'm sorry i can't find a reference to your model no. on the database here or via google. if your md player has an optical out & your soundcard has an optical in you can record it that way still using the software to record. current himd models will playback your old discs too.
  2. you options as i see them are rc-30 -> pc* -> himd or rc-30 -> himd i'd go with option one although both are going to take some time & suffer some sound quality degredation. with both methods you can use the software to title & manage the songs on the discs. if you still have any of the cds or mp3s the music came on use them instead * into a recording software like audacity or soundforge then to sonicstage.
  3. cons of the himd. data files larger than 1gb need to be split. odd UI compared to to hdds need to carry around discs. you might say 2&1/2 years on one battery is poor but if the player's costing you $0.75/day then it's no biggie to get the newer technology at your next upgrade.
  4. you have SP2 but the most common omgjbox errors were fixed by this windows update http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...59-72057a21021e if you have ss3.1 & sp2 then it should have been fixed but maybe try it anyway?
  5. i know how you feel, as a comsumer i'm alway pissed if i know more than sales & support staff. being informed but working for a company where [some] the customers know more than company policy must be disconcerting. i used to have the same problem when i worked for telstra mobilenet.
  6. go audio visual is average, decent range, sale staff have some product knowledge [!] but the prices are RRP with little space for negotiation.
  7. sounds like the song was bought or sampled from an online store with restrictions. what is the file format? does it playback in wmp/winamp? as a last option i guess you could play it & record it with a stream recorder
  8. try following this here http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071 & then for additional problems use this thread but please post your system specs as requested in the other stickies at the top of this subforum. welcome by the way
  9. i have a similar shaped although larger, acrylic box i bought from a beading shop for $5. they are an excellent alternative to draw style or the good old caedboard shoebox.
  10. abrasives are used to polish anything if they're small grained enough, so baking soda toothpaste makes perfect sense to me.
  11. the older irivers have line & optical in/out for recording.
  12. do you have regular access to a computer & is it a pc or mac?
  13. no. the only option you have is to record back to the pc in real time. you can use a strea recorder like soundforge or audacity or the a program like winnmd. try searching the board for more info.
  14. no sweat, hope you stick around here, even without the 'ware problems.
  15. i liked garden state, but what swearing? i don't recall finding it offensive, maybe i have a higher tolerance.
  16. i occasionally read the forum as a lurker about 6 months before i joined here & the tboard, came fully into the fold here after kurisu's coup & subsequent invitation.
  17. just out of inerest have you read the faqs we've set up here? sp2 jet & dx9 are amongst our prerequisites. sadly at this forum we must have a significantly higher tech support success figure than any of sony's helpdesks worldwide.
  18. i did grab them for a decent price enjoy them greatly but regret not paying the extra for the 66s, mostly for the single cord & heavier duty construction.
  19. none of net md softwares support true sp, they only produce an lp2 marked as sp - at 132kbs so they playback on sp only md but with 50% of the bitrate. also i'd advise against using real player it is very out of date with regards to md.
  20. what's the porblem with SP2? there was a load of press about problems with sp2 but i've not had any. sp2 is required for ss to work...
  21. excellent quality pics as usual ishi. do you have the d22s?
  22. bland bring back the smooth guy! the elf has disturbed my mental image of you. bittersweet. my advice for australians is for imports try www.bluetin.com although they're stock is a little low atm. for australian warranties from an aus store try www.minidisc.com.au
  23. i have about 250 all md80s or 74s in various styles but i use them, not a collector as such. i really like the axia Js, maxell koloure, sony bianca & neige. clean designs, although i also have a softspot for the tdk hos.
  24. i saw saved! last night on dvd, hilarious although perhaps a little contentious if you are born again - not for me living in liberal australia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332375/
