it'll play mp3s transferred via sonicstage as audio but not mp3s stored as data. so if you don't like the atrac3+ codecs you can use mp3s without converting.

WMAL > Flac for sonicstage users imo. as zeroe hinted there's less steps to get the music on the player.

this might be the bit you missed. you said your 'old' recordings. what did you record these 'old' recordings with? need to have been himd remember.

mikio - have you considered recording the cassettes into the 'line in' on your computer soundcard, recording to wav, then transferring over optical? kind of redundant, however if there is additional hiss, siblance or buzz on the recording you could edit it out. just throwing it in the ring, however this is far from my area of expertise so A440 please advise against it if invalid.

you can do this on himd only & then not with files from the sonicstage library due to sonicstage's DRM. essentially you are correct
