  1. I had a similar incident where I took out a disc from my RH10, put in another, and it "thought" it still had the original disc in... once taking out the disc (or battery) everything went back to normal.
  2. If you click around on the ad, you'll see it only tauts "MD"... no sign of HiMD.
  3. Are you asking this because your box will be designed to hold those long-box containers of the 1st gen HiMDs? If so, I'd give up on that size and go for standard. That way you can use regular MDs, 2nd gen HiMDs (crystal blue), and replace the long boxes of the HiMDs you own w/ standard MD jewel cases. I have no idea who is still selling the purple-ish ones. I'm sure there are still plenty around though... especially on Ebay.
  4. Hmmm... well, I guess I was going off of something I heard in one of these forums, so I suppose the whole 'data image' thing is not gospel truth. But you must admit, the 1st gen HiMD discs certainly had a more industrial, cold look, plus the BOLD "1 GB" that you just can't miss. At any rate, bottom line is I love the clear ones better.
  5. If I reveal that... then there REALLY won't be any left...
  6. 1 - That link makes it WAY too complicated for me, which is why I like the PRE-cut sticky-labels provided by NEATO... all I do is PRINT, PEEL and STICK. But again, these minidisc label sheets are getting more difficult to come by. 2 - I am talking about the same HiMD discs you are (I suppose they are blue, I found them rather blah, so I call them grey) - see The Cure pic below... I call them "cartridges" because Sony tried to disguise the fact that there is a CD inside, to try to push the 1GB portable DATA storage angle.
  7. He he... wow, I don't know where to start. Well, basically I use Photoshop, and print on the what now seems to be defunct Minidisc Label sheets (once provided by Neato). HERE is a link to a whole thread I devoted to this topic at the other minidisc forum.
  8. I couldn't disagree with you more, I'm afraid. I absolutely HATED those dull grey CARTRIDGES. But of course having a choice is always best. But I despised the look of the 1st gen HiMD discs so much that I only used standard MDs in my HiMD player for the longest time. Here are some more of my Blue HiMD labels if anyone is inerested:
  9. Wow, could you make your pics ANY closer? I can almost read the 1's and 0's.
  10. Either you upped the sarcasm level another notch, or you didn't realize I was being just plain silly.
  11. What does Sharp have to do with Avril Levigne?
  12. In the past I've owned 2 Sony Sports series CD Walkmans, and they were incredibly durable (actually I still own one... but I now have MD, so it just sits there) Anyway, I find MD so durable in itself that I doubt a sports version is really needed.
  13. Ah, yes... MUCH better, thank you. (also emphasizes how rediculously SMALL the buttons are...)
  14. I couldn't seem to find a pictorial on this unit, but I think what is rather unique and possibly overlooked is the fact that it is one of the only BACKLIT-faced MD walkmans around, especially in the lower-end price range. I was reminded by this because of a photo someone had on an Ebay auction: I'd like to see better pics of this unit if anyone has it. (PS - if the photo doesn't show up, the auction is over... let me know if you really wish to see the photo, I can host it if need be.)
  15. Beautiful pics! And I LOVE THOSE BUTTONS!! (why they didn't offer a GROUP button is just plain rediculous). I also don't understand why they push "Linear PCM playback" on the box... what average person 1) even knows what PCM IS, and 2) would even CARE?! Ok, ok, the "average person" buys an iPod anyway, but I just don't get why they plug that. Though I find the all-metal body, the buttons, and the NiMH gumstick capability all attractive, I prefer my EH1 due to the plain, hard-edged SQUARE that it is... I don't like rounded, sleek corners or odd angles (another reason why I've never been attracted to the NH1). But certainly that's just ME. Anyway, looks cool regardless, and thanks for sharing all those pics!
  16. I enjoyed reading that hiMD boost ... I sure hope it's true... which may finally mean an in-dash hiMD player for the car some day. At any rate, if any web-wiz people can provide a link that automatically translates that survey, I would love to participate. Thanks.
  17. Ok, this is my first, so be easy on me... just going for SIMPLE and clean. (Thanks for the program info, Ishiyoshi) I still want to incorporate MD, MD icons, etc... but still am overwelmed about how to do that... Thumbnail Image... CLICK for bigger view
  18. A "car holder" for the minidisc??? Do you mean there's some type of harness out there to hold our portable MD players, or did you mean an in-dash MD?? If such a thing exists, please provide a manufacturer name or link! Absolutely... that's what I use...
  19. I love reading "back to MD" stories I dropped my NH900 the first week on a thin-carpet basement floor... still worked. I've dropped my RH10 a couple of times (I usually out of reflex tend to hack-sack my dropping devices with my foot to lessen the blow), and even dropped my new EH1 twice. No problems whatsoever. MD: Best sound, best look, most durable. Can't go wrong.
  20. Oh, well I simply meant if I stay at the same 132kbps bitrate which I always use.
  21. That question doesn't sound stupid to me at all, most likely because I have been contemplating over the very same issue... however, out of habit, I know being up-to-date with the latest is usually best, despite the risk of early bugs, etc. I downloaded 3.3, was excited about the whole "lossless" thing, but then found out that there's really no difference if I plan to use SS just for making MDs, versus using it as a PLAYER on my PC, so I could just go BACK to 3.2, but I'll just stick to 3.3 since it's... the "latest."
  22. Amen to that... but it must have an OLED screen like the RH10
  23. oh... wow. Can anyone else confirm this theory? Thanks.
  24. Yeah I noticed that too... but someone covered the high vs normal in this thread earlier... My problem is I don't want to HEAR these higher bitrates... because if I do, I'll want to REDO all my MDs, and that's more than 100 discs!!! Plus they would then spread out to even MORE discs because the higher rates would take up more ROOM, and I have like 4 albums per standard MD... let's not even talk about how many albums I have on my HI-MD discs!!! (all at 132kbps).
  25. So let me get this straight... since I NEVER play tunes on my PC using Sonic Stage, is there any point to this 3.3 lossless stuff for me? I still like to use 132kbps for my MDs due to the amount of stuff I can fit onto discs, and still have decent quality. But if there's no difference between ripping a CD at 132, then transferring to MD at 132 via Sonic Stage 2.3 versus "lossless at 132" to MD, then I suppose there's no advantage here for me.
