The DH10P Review by The Blue Raja

Look... TWINS! (the one on the right is the one I'm using now & has a screen protector) As per your request. -
Not the most 'hip' or convenient solution, but it is one nevertheless...
-
CONGRATS! With the exception of the terrible LCD screen, the NH900 is the best MD machine out there in my opinion.

I write paragraphs and someone posts a sticker and the comments start to flow... -
No, a very friendly moderator from the T-Board is doing a swap w/ me (he had TWO black NH900's in near mint condition)... I'm sending him a brand new sealed RH10.
-
How I got that unit is a LONG, complicated story (or at least the process was), but I'll make it short: I found it on the Amazon.co.uk Marketplace second hand. I had to have it shipped to someone in the UK who then forwarded to me. And yes, I have a second one on the way... the one I currently own has the button glitch.

That's an excellent suggestion... and with all the detailed NH900 volume cap HACK in this forum, there should be a way to reset... anyone??

The DH10P Review by The Blue Raja

Ok, I know you'll all think I'm crazy (if you haven't already), but lately I have been treating my DH10P like a camera that happens to be an MD player as well. What I mean is, I think I gave up my standards on photography back when I got my FIRST digital Olympus 1.3 megapixel camera (and had kids, got more busy with 'real life' etc.); taking day-to-day snapshot photos, not worried about 'wasting shots' since it was digital, etc., etc. The days of my good ol' SLR Pentax are over (tho I still have it of course and use it once in a blue moon). With all that said, and with several YEARS of photos now that only exist in a digital format, I realize I'm not going to put these images to paper any time soon, and between my current 5 megapix Kodak digicam, and now my DH10P, it's really not THAT important to me how an image looks when I just shrink it down to email to friends to share anyway, etc. So with my standards lowered, grabbing my DH10P on-the-go and capturing images is a lot of fun, and very handy. It's much more portable due to the SHAPE of the device (most cameras that I've owned are BOXY and BULKY and can't fit like in a shirt pocket or even in a jacket pocket that easily). On Easter Sunday I got together with a lot of family, took a small road trip and enjoyed some tunes off of the DH10P during the drive, and then used it as my camera to capture events. It is a FUN camera to use (knowing there's a minidisc spinning inside to save the data is an added bonus), for convenience and overall FEEL. No camera has ever fit my hand so well. The sleek, sexy design of the DH10P makes it a very attractive camera and always captures people's attention to begin with. Low-light conditions are the big downer, but again, for day-in-the-life snapshot photography it's a great unit. After spending an entire day with my DH10P and all off the juice of one battery (I finally ran it until the battery was dead and realized it lasted a bit longer then I thought it would since it does the 'low batt' blink rather soon, but then lasts still a good while), I really love this device even more. I think owning the NH900 series along w/ the DH10P is the perfect combo; the NH900 is for serious audio listening & even recording (mic, line in), and the DH10P is for traveling, having some fun w/ album art, and still good listening. -
While that's a novel idea, I think there's too much room for error, and then I could be totally out two units. I just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of here--- oops, habit, I just made a deal with a generous person on the T-Board to do a swap and I will be the very happy owner of TWO black NH900s, one being in much better shape than the first

Ok, ok folks, I'll take a pic of my 2 DH10Ps cuddling together tonight. I hope some day I will be able to do the same with TWO BLACK NH900s... I'm working on it... -

... not sure what the point would be (tho I'm trying to keep the backup as STERILE as possible). I could just as easily 'Photoshop' 2 of them, or make 50 of them for that matter -

So glad I have the power of seduction via minidisc photography -
It's weird, despite the great deal, I have no NEED for more 1GB HiMD discs... I still have like 12 I haven't used. In the meantime, I keep using the standards. I like how when I get a new CD I can find a better 'theme' to a MD quicker than trying to think what other 10 to 12 CDs would go with it well (I use 132kbps).
-
Though I empathize your situation, your selling it to someone else is downright assenine. And we wonder why there are terrorists in this world. I hope you get the Ebay feedback you deserve.
-
I still have a supply of OFFICIAL Neato minidisc matte finish labels... they stopped selling them last year, and shipped the rest of their supply to minidisc access I believe. Sooner or later I'll be using some Avery labels or something, since I think using scissors or razors is rediculous.
-
That's not my disc, but I give the guy an A for Ambition. He had to use razor blades for the edges, etc... plus with time the edges will wear. Personally minidiscs are so cool looking in themselves they don't need to be covered like that in my opinion.

Here is the label artwork thread I started on the T-board that had many samples provided from lotsa' people. In the meantime, for those too lazy to even hit a link, here's my latest creation: I use labels "upside down" because I always open my players with the open mouth UP, and the hinge side in the palm of my hand... this way I can read/see the artwork clearly as it "pops" out or when I push it in. For example: Just an example of a contributor at the thread link I posted above; this fella covered the ENTIRE md disc itself:
-
Yeah, I noticed with my RH10 when I did shuffles it seemed to FAVOR a particular artist or certain select cuts... not as random as I had hoped - lol.
-
I don't get the fuss about the "tiny labels"... I just use my own:
-
For me it's not a bargain because I have to buy more sleeves to replace those annoying long hard-box ones... plus I find the discs ugly.
-
MD isn't about looks? Should I direct you to the 3,351 threads of people DROOLING over how hot the latest MD model LOOKS? Or maybe my MD label art thread... Anyway, I care how my MDs and players look.
-
With that mentality I'd own an iPod.
-
I'm sorry but it is those very threads that confused me... none of them seem to address the things I'm SEEING on my display screen... Then I see "VOL+ / FF / FF / FF / FF / FF (gets you to "113 xxxSXX (xxx values counting up...)" with XX being your current setting, probably A0)" and I'm like, HOW do I press VOLUME PLUS forward when Volume is UP or DOWN on the joystick.?? OHHH WAIT I GET IT NOW.... I'll let you know how it goes. Sorry.
-
I see the price too (3.99)... but judging from the PHOTO, I don't want those ugly discs in the long-box cases... I like the newer see-thru ones in the slip-sleeves.
